Decide Buddy's Fate.. Runs FREE or Kept Inside FOREVER.. Just had a fight with neighbors

1) Buddy runs free as a cat should and fuck the fuckers even if they harm Buddy.

2) Buddy is kept prisoner inside the home his whole life so the assholes are happy and Buddy is safe but NEVER lives.

Decide Buddy's fate. There are only two options. Thank you.

Short story:

Buddy now comes home on his own just fine through the cat door. Tonight Buddy ran down to a neighbor's who doesnt want him around. Sat in their yard cause lots of kids were around (Buddy likes people).

My old nemesis Dickhead was also down there visiting, he yelled at me, "hey your cat is down here".. very short story.. instigated a reaction out of me and before long I was shouting at the top of my lungs at them. They want me to keep Buddy in ALWAYS and FOREVER and NEVER let him out.

I say fuck them and fuck that BUT I dont want them to hurt Buddy but if they do they do.. the cat will run as cat's should.

Long story:

In trying to keep ALL neighbors happy I bought a fancy harness and leash and planned on walking Buddy but it just doesnt work out. And I knew it wouldnt. So I got my money back.

So last night I let him out the cat door come what may. This morning after running all night little Buddy at first light comes climbing back in to the home. GREAT news. So far so good! Buddy can now come and go ok. Great news for "me".

So Buddy has learned how to come and go and find his way in and out with the cat door.

He sleeps inside all day with me and about 7:30pm tonight he goes out. My closest neighbor, and a good guy, brings him back as he thought he was still lost. I explain he now knows where home is and he can ignore it if he sees it. He says fine and says "sure is a cute cat." So far great day.

Suddenly I hear from two lots down "hey your cat is down here" It is Dickhead who is down at the neighbor's where Buddy was found a few days back when he got lost. Buddy likes to run down there as there is lots of activity.

I yell, "it's ok, he can find his way home" Anyhow things seem a tad upset so I walk down there to get Buddy who is hanging out under a car.

Long story short the women there who runs a daycare center out of a mobile home says, "she doesnt want Buddy around" as he tries to get in the house. This was only when he was lost a few days back, not now.

I say, "it is only because so many people around. He just likes to be where the action is. Give him time to learn the ropes. He can find his way home and eats at home in fact he just ate. He will not try and get in anymore. He was hungry then"

Things are fine so far. I explain, Lucky was killed and I tried to teach Buddy to use a harness ect and but it doesnt work out. So far I am joking and cordial.

But things go south..

Dickhead (the neighbor who once instigated a fight and punched me in 2004 over Lucky in his yard) starts poking me saying how the rules say "you must keep him indoors ALWAYS". (which they dont, "they say you must keep your pet in sight" Many cats run outdoors here. That is what cats do in MH parks and basicly what cats do. 250+ mobile homes in a huge area.

Anyhow before it is over me and Dickhead are yelling (mostly me, as I lost it, yes my hair temper went off but he pushed me and actually HE raised his voice and started yelling at me FIRST)

"keep it inside ALWAYS" he yells"

I yell, "if you touch the cat I will call the sheriff"

and many more things are said where we basicly reopen the cold war that remained stagnant since 2004, back and forth and I think the women is also now yelling. Major spectacle.

I told them to throw firecrackers at him and scare him off but they just want to be asses and keep Buddy from EVER running on their yard which will ONLY happen if he imprisonned by me 24/7 for 15 years.

They are unreasonable. This is a mobile home park and cats are allowed. In fact from 1987 till 1999 dogs were not allowed as they bark and only cats were allowed.

It is a very small 8 month neutered cat who just wants to hang out with people as he is from a farm where there is lots of activity and thus is afraid of noone. (which is a problem)

So towards the end of our shouting match, which went on for 3-4 mins, I say to the woman "well I have to listen to all these kids all the time screaming, all I have is Buddy who isnt hurting nothing if he sits here once in a while. Otherwise chase him out."

All of a sudden the father comes out all pissed cause I mentioned the kids. I apologize (which I really shouldnt have) and say it is because dickhead set me off and we have an old, bad relationship.

So I take Buddy home. They make snide remarks, "you better leave or.." as I leave. I am the bad guy now.

Buddy is inside sleeping. Cold night 37F.

So.. two options..

1) Keep Buddy inside the rest of his life which I couldnt do even if I wanted but I wouldnt do anyhow. I didnt buy him for that.

To never go out when I am out BBQing or just out on a summer day?

Everytime I get groc and come home I have to keep him locked in a middle room? Because I have to open the door sev times to bring stuff in.

Everytime I go outside to take garbage out.. I have to NEVER let him out with me? ect ect?

This can NOT be done even if I was such an asshole to do that to the poor little cat. It is completely unrealistic. And noone but the assholes expects me to do this.

2) He will run free as all my cats have done and as MANY other cats do out here BUT he will be in danger as they could hurt him.

Of course option 2 is what I will be doing. Hopefully they will not hurt Buddy as he will prob run down there again. But I have only these two general options.

So I am now hated by one more neighbor and prob more as I am the "bad guy" in the fucken mobile home park who lets their cat run lol.

What are you gonna do. Such is life.

So if he goes missing .. "that's the fucking way she goes" as Ray said in Trailer Park Boys.

My one lil cat, and all I have in life, will run free. Wish him best.

But I am not worried at all. The Park told me to forget it in 2004 after the third notice. No judge will evict me over a cat running thru someones yard. Period.

Let me play a little devil's advocate. Right now Buddy is cute and he is just visiting the neighbors and there is a decent chance he may never have any problems out there.However, he could also be pissing various people off.

When I moved into my house the neighbor had two cats that he let run free. I spent a pretty decent amount of time putting in some nice flower beds around the yard and doing things to make the yard nice looking and those cats decided that my yard was their personal litter box. It is not a lot of fun when you don't have an animal so you go out into your backyard barefoot and step in cat shit!

Then the first winter I was here I find out that the cats crawl under my house (they dig holes under the access panel) and would climb up onto the air duct which was warm. In the middle of the winter the heat stops blowing out half the vents in half of the house. My brother climbs under the house to check it out (he is an HVAC guy) and encounters tons of cat shit and he sees where the cats laid on the duct and collapsed a piece of it. It only cost me about $20 to fix, but it took a few hours and was a pain in the ass. Not to mention it was cold for a few days until we could get a chance to fix it.

On top of that the cats seemed to love laying on the soft convertible top of my car. That car is my baby and that really pissed me off.

I asked the guy four different times to do something about his cats and he always promised that he would. He never did. After the car incident I wrote him a letter and sent it registered mail explaining that if I saw any damage to my car or home in the future from his cats I would call animal control and have them come put live traps down and take the cats away. Finally he moved them inside and even apologized to me saying he didn't realize everything that was going on (which was bullshit, but I was cool with it so long as the cats stayed inside).

So Buddy might be just out having innocent fun, or he could be pissing people off.

In the end he is your cat and you are responsible for his life. If you choose to be irresponsible and let him run free in a place where you know he is not wanted, don't be shocked when he just disappears some day.

I am honest and few kick me even tho I am down cause we all know the game is long.
I have seen good years and bad years. Nothing wrong with MH living. It is honorable and beats renting.

Those of you in Apts.. How does $350 a month for 1/4 acre and 24 (i think) trees sound? (once you own the home) I lived in an Apt for many years. MH living is way better.

It is not a lot of fun when you don't have an animal so you go out into your backyard barefoot and step in cat shit!

Then the first winter I was here I find out that the cats crawl under my house (they dig holes under the access panel) and would climb up onto the air duct which was warm. In the middle of the winter the heat stops blowing out half the vents in half of the house. My brother climbs under the house to check it out (he is an HVAC guy) and encounters tons of cat shit and he sees where the cats laid on the duct and collapsed a piece of it. It only cost me about $20 to fix, but it took a few hours and was a pain in the ass. Not to mention it was cold for a few days until we could get a chance to fix it.

On top of that the cats seemed to love laying on the soft convertible top of my car. That car is my baby and that really pissed me off.

I asked the guy four different times to do something about his cats and he always promised that he would. He never did. After the car incident I wrote him a letter and sent it registered mail explaining that if I saw any damage to my car or home in the future from his cats I would call animal control and have them come put live traps down and take the cats away. Finally he moved them inside and even apologized to me saying he didn't realize everything that was going on (which was bullshit, but I was cool with it so long as the cats stayed inside).

So Buddy might be just out having innocent fun, or he could be pissing people off.

In the end he is your cat and you are responsible for his life. If you choose to be irresponsible and let him run free in a place where you know he is not wanted, don't be shocked when he just disappears some day.

Thing is.. all it takes is a pack of firecracker thrown at them a couple times and they move on. I would even buy the crackers for you.

Or a shot of vinegar. Yes they have to get somewhat tough and then he goes to lots where people are who like him.

Lucky was shot by one neighbor with a BB Gun. I seen him out there. But other than that we got along. So I let it slide. he was about 75 y/o so eh a lil senile.

Also remember this is not a city or town. This is a mobile home park that ALLOWS cats and does not say they have to be in only that they must be watched and not become a nuisance. ie cats are allowed and if you arent cool with that get a piece of your own property. Not you but in general.

Cats are allowed when you sign the lease and NO they do not have to be kept in always.

But I hear ya. You had some special probs and your case is diff than just walking through the yard once a day. The homeowner should pay for damages in the case of your car. As should I if Buddy damaged cars.
