My comment was, Russia has some of the most beautiful buildings and decors in the world as well as the poorer photos posted. I made no comment on peoples personal life choices because people everywhere can be stupid and irresponsible.

Yes I know and understand. I was making the comment as its being said in this thread that the people live that way as a life style and Not by choice.

To expand on your observation ... I have a guy that worked for me years ago that I still bump into every now and then. He and his family are always broke and bounce from one shitty house to another. He and his wife both have a one or two pack a day cigarette habit. They each have a cell phone as well as both their kids. They have not one but three dogs as well as a huge aquarium setup. They eat out at fast food restaurants or buy frozen dinners ....

They probably easily spend $10,000-$12,000 a year on cigarettes, pets and cell phones not to mention extra food costs. Correct, their lifestyle keeps them down.

I have seen that soooo many times myself. Cant pay rent but have multiple Laptops, phones and all sorts of shit they dont need.

Your post reminded me of our honeymoon. We went to Vegas and after left to go across land to Monument Valley. Less than 1 hour out of Vegas we pulled over to have a coffee at a Rest Stop. It had a trailer park behind it. The Rest Stop was like out of the 60s and occupied by Viet Veterans. Like a totally different world.

Mind you the village we live in 20 km from Brno, a major city, is very different from the city.

i took a bus from kiev to yalta and we stopped halfway and the area looked very similar to that...its amazing to see how different people in the world live

I have to say that Brooklyn looks a lot more depressing on StreetView than the Russian and Ukrainian cities (Moscow, Donets'k, Kyiv, Odessa).
