I'm bashing an idiot - I don't care if you were a veteran or not. Supporting the troops doesn't mean being nice to a fat old guy just because he feels entitled. Regardless, if you were down and out and needed help, I'd likely send you a few bucks because you've served - even if I don't like you.

Again, they should have been tried by court martial.

I have never been for GITMO, they should have been tried immediately and the sentence carried out.

This is the first and I hope the last time anything like this has happened, because of their status as not being POW's, but being terrorist.

But again, no one is talking about the OP one bit!

Not a lot of big picture thinking going on. This is the Me society we have created I suppose.
We aren't really jeopardizing anyone. For the most part we are pulling out. Mission accomplished, we removed the Taliban from power, destroy the so called "base" of Al-Qaeda, and killed Osama.

Do we even know who the five Taliban are? We keep hearing horror stories about them but yet we seem to know nothing. Fazl, for example, was the Taliban?s former deputy defense minister. This is like arresting the Secretary of the Navy. Wasiq was a former deputy minister of intelligence who cooperated with US troops but withheld information from us. Khairkhwa, a former Taliban governor of Herat, was more of a heroin trafficker than a Taliban. This is like arresting the governor of California. One of them of them was a police officer.

All of them were active during the invasion, have been out of circulation for some time - nearly a decade, and all of them have given information to the US. It's possible that the Taliban might just kill them on sight.

These people have killed thousands of people, but I guess that's ok with you!

I tend not to address far right fear mongering. If those allegations are true, which is pretty likely, then I'm sure someone who doesn't have an obvious agenda will report on it in due time. At the end of it all, though, I don't really care - a US soldier who's been in enemy hands for a while is now back on US soil - if the POTUS and his staff had to lie to make it happen, so be it. How they did it wasn't illegal, either, but you won't see that on a far-right blog.

As far as those 5 guys go. I'm sure they have been water boarded to death enough to the point that there brains and psychi are so fucked up that they are useless. The condition that Al Queda and Taliban in nowadays is not the glory days it was in when these guys were imprisoned. These fucks aren't going to want any part of possibly going back to Cuba to spend the rest of their lives being held as combatants. All these assholes want to do is find a nice piece of mountain rock and crawl under it and raise some goats..

I wouldn't get too worried about them anyways. You can bet your ass that they will be blown up anyways by a drone strike if they are caught anywhere near that shit again.
One of them has already promised to return to fighting us. These are religious fighters, there is nothing more dangerous. Because they will gladly kill themselves to hurt US troops

Then why can't you just say that instead of going off on me for posting it?

Potus is not allowed to lie to the US people, that was the basis of Clintons impeachment.

WTF do you expect him to say when he's released from Cuba and going back to his home country to be interviewed by his people....?

I had a lovely time and thanks for the Snickers?

They are no more of a threat than any other regular soldier we would let go in a prisoner exchange. If he blows himself up, not like you can do anything about it.

You're making these guys out to be more important than they are. That public attitude is exactly doing what you describe you don't want to do...and enabling and encouraging the enemy.

You tell me... What value does the former governor of an area of Afghanistan have after being in US custody for fifteen years? After fifteen years doe he have any value? Is he worth anything? Did he ever direct military forces against the US? In the event he returns to Afghanistan, will he get the post or has it been filled by someone else for fifteen years? Or will he be branded a trader?

He's about as useful to them as my shoe would be unless he was extremely connected. He may get back into a cushy position if he was savvy enough to do so in the past, but likely not for the Taliban or any affiliated group. They don't strike me as the forgiving type.

You repeating that I'm an idiot and know nothing about the topic won't make it true. I'm mocking you and pointing out how inconsistent you are. It's great fun.

So have we guy. We are far from innocent.

That's why its called a prisoner exchange..

What do you expect...we get a soldier back and in turn they get some goats we captured?

It's not an exchange based on the worth and personal merits of the one soldier against the worth and merits of the 5 that were released.

This is major league ball, not little league. He's was our only POW and unfortunately the good and the bad of our conflict fall on his shoulders....thats why their was a higher price to pay with them getting 5 in return...

Doesn't have shit to do with how important this kid is....the importance is what he represented.

Lie #6: The release of the terrorists poses little to no risk to the U.S.

Just days after being released from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba family members of one of the five detainees released by the United States told NBC news that the former Taliban commander, Mullah Norullah Nori, planned to return to the fight in Afghanistan. Nori is a former Taliban Provincial Governor and is said to be responsible for the Shia Muslim genocide in Western Afghanistan prior to 9/11. The attacks he ordered against his own countrymen resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians who were slaughtered for practicing a different form of Islam than the Taliban.

But they lied about his importance, they lied about his health to by pass the law about giving 30 days notice.

simple fact, the Army found back in 2010 he deserted his post in a time of war. He was the only person to do that.

Proof? A blog that would make Fox News blush is hardly a source. Even IF true, so what? Are you scared? Do you want me to hold you? Maybe you can call me an idiot again and you'll feel more safe at least momentarily?

Politicians are distancing themselves from a controversial topic in the media?

Oh man, next you're going to tell me the sky is blue!

Wow so trial and execution? No verdict, no defense, no judgement, just a kangaroo court, a "guilty" rubber stamp, and a death sentence.

Military trials are a little different and I would only say if found guilty. They're not there for selling girl scout cookies

Well the beautiful thing about this thread is that almost everybody doesn't care or agree with what you think. I think that says a lot about this situation.

So beyond the point of arguing a pointless point, what are you trying to accomplish?

I think the thing that hurts guys like you is, that nobody cares about what you think. You're not important, even though apparently you think you are the spokesperson for the reform of the United States Government. Just like these two morons out in Vegas who just shot everybody up because nobody would listen to their idiotic anti government views.

Nobody cares what you think. Nobody likes you. I don't like you. They don't like you. Hell even the little girl doesn't like you.

But that is not what you said.

I have found that most people say what is truly on their mind then make corrections to save face or appearances when it is caught.

Similar to the politicians tweets posted above then retracted to tow the party line.

I am aware that Military Trials are somewhat different then Civil/Civilian Criminal Trials.

Although even what venue they might be tried in was up for debate for a very long time.

Your words had them lined up against the wall in front of a firing squad after a rubber stamped guilty verdict. Maybe you did not want others to take it that way, maybe you did, it is what you implied and it sat there long enough unedited or corrected until I mentioned it.

Was your wording intentional? Only you know that for certain, but what others think was your intention you can not change or control.

I am sure your come back will be denial, rhetoric, and you will most likely berate me for posting this. Any of those actions will just solidify what I have posted here in relation to you.

That's just it - some of them were pretty well connected. Although that might have been in the Taliban pre US invasion government, not the current rebel military movement to restore them to power.

Give me a break they deleted the tweets for political reasons. You say the President lied so
now they removed there tweets welcoming home this guy and sending prayers to him in his family. Tells you a lot about the person right there. There were nothing wrong with those tweets at all. There was no praise for Obama just only a return of one of our soldiers. Partisan politics one again in play stop drinking the kool aid.

That's a pretty stupid statement , most of the links in this thread are from liberal websites and news blogs. Maybe you need to buy a clue?

I get bored sometimes.

and making fun of idiots that don't know what's going in is fun!

No one has even commented really on the lies I put out in the OP, they all are going after the morality of it. Majority of the people that have been polled do not like what he did and how he did it.
