I don't think rational people find it hard to conceive that radical islamists struck within the us. People already know about 9/11, the shoe bomber caught trying to fly into Maimi, and the Boston marathon bombing. It's just that in this scenario, there are hallmarks of terrorist planning, as well as hallmarks of work p[lace violence...which is why many are theorizing that the attack had mixed motives...not simply one motive.

Not that difficult really. $2K for the ARs, $1k for two handguns, $1k for the GoPro cameras, $500 for the ammo, and Google for the "know how" to make bombs, etc. So you figure a little more than a month of pay to afford all of the supplies. Not sure what type of body armor he had, civilians usually can't purchase it. But even so, he can get it on the black market for roughly $2k. A lot of times people mistake tac-vests for body armor, it looks very similar.

I know a guy that works at 7-11 making $8 an hour and he owns several AR-15s, at least 3 AK-47's, and a shit ton of ammo.

i'm not so sure that there are hallmarks of workplace violence here. coworkers have described the guy as mild-mannered and low key at work.

getting miffed at the Christmas party isn't a hallmark of workplace violence.

i'm thinking the outburst was simply fabricated by him to get his self in the mindset of carrying out the planned mission.

[“You] don’t take your wife to a workplace shooting, and especially not as prepared as they were,” said a senior law enforcement official briefed on the investigation. “He could have been radicalized, ready to go with some type of attack, and then had a dispute at work and decided to do something.”

Two other senior United States security officials said that F.B.I. counter-terrorism officials were overseeing the investigation because of the possibility that it might be terrorism, not because they had concluded that it was.

The officials called the case perplexing, saying that no clear evidence of terrorism had emerged and that there were some signs pointing away from it. But they said the shooting was clearly premeditated, and does not fit the mold for typical workplace violence incidents. The idea that this was a workplace argument that spiraled out of control seems far-fetched now, ...

Seeing the picture above, I have a new theory.

She radicalized him. Look at her, she's petite, cute, pretty. He's a dorky nerd that had to advertise for a wife for years.

He goes to Saudi Arabia, meets this hot, religious, devoted chick. He brings her back, she's everything he hoped for. She eggs him on, and in her eyes, only a martyr is good enough. She probably had the contacts, and they actually are a kind of bonny and clyde, but an islamic radical version.

What would I do NOW?
How about what I would have done BEFORE? and not force feed everyone some bologna view on an integrated society with a religion that hates our very culture. First step would be arresting and charging anyone with high treason who had anything to do with muslims even being able to be accepted for a tourist visa since 911. Sentence all those disgusting pigs to life in prison then continue working from there.

I would then send moles into the mosques and arrest any Imam that even breath the word terrorism and beat the souls of their feet like the disgusting dogs they are.

ban all foreign travel of any muslim to any high target area where extremism is prevalent. throw their wives in jail and take their kids and put them in a white neighborhood and tell them daddy isn't coming home and force feed them American media 14 hours per day.

Cap muslim babies at 1 per family like they did in China with their own population to control the spread of the birth rate for this group.

Should i go on?

yeah sure that's how it works

my version: racist xeno americans made life hell on earth for him...he was a 2nd class citizen just like the blacks in the racist USA...he turned to religion to find comfort from life in the united states of warmongering and xenophobia...

'mericans will argue: but the sun shines out of our assholes, we can never do any wrong, and the millions of bombs and death we unleash upon the world mean nothing at all, we are fucking perfect

the united states of mass shooting is never to blame...ever...for anything at all

also, it seems to me she would be more inclined to be radicalized rather than him. or maybe they radicalized together...........

let's also not forget they dropped their baby off with grandma yesterday morning early, claiming a doctor's appt. more proof this was all planned for this event. i think the guy had to get himself into a radicalized state of mind by feigning anger.

i couldn't care less about the photo. ilnjbf's view is certainly food for thought and more dialogue, as well as making sense. my opinion doesn't rely on the photo or how attractive she was or wasn't, the simple fact is it would make more sense she was radicalized before he was and that a girl could more than likely sway a guy rather than vice versa.

besides, it's all conjecture at this point and sometimes that's how people cope and vent after bizarre events like this, talking about it based on any info available.

Because they don't have incentive to work good. It's not like they will get fired if they don't spy good enough.

Same thing with the testicle fondling TSA.

Taking all the extreme and emotional ideas out of that it still isn't a solution. Our country has had a significant size islam population for 30 or 40 years now (at least in larger cities) without constant violence. We have had incidents, no doubt, but we don't seem to be being targeted by any means. I think being too PC is a weakness as well but the opposite is just escalating hate on both ends the way I see it.

I'm not so concerned about the availability of guns in our society because they have been available for the whole 60 years of my life and until the last few decades mass shootings have been extremely rare. I'm more concerned about the mindset that our media corporations and educational systems have engendered, and the promotion of ultra diversity of opinion that has spead like wildfire. Some people actually believe islamists are freedom fighters. Some (like Obama) argue there's no correlation between Islam and terrorism and strife. Time for them to get a brain and call a horse a horse, and quit blaming the availability of small arms. Blame the mindset, not the device.

I think Obama and many others on the left are partially blaming relatively easy access to guns...not the gun/device itself. I don't think anyone really blames the gun when they argue for "gun control"...to be more accurate it should be renamed "gun access control"
.

Just gibberish, There is nothing that would prevent most shooters from passing any gun purchase requirements. What questions would you add to the current ATF form? Keep in mind this form and additional personal information are forwarded to the FBI for approval before a gun dealer can sell the firearm.

Seriously, tell us what additional "gun access control" information you would add.

Here's something that might have stopped Sayed and his wife from owning guns: a moratorium preventing any ME immigrant or anyone who has visited an ME country (outside official government visit) from owning guns. Or if that is too extreme, then simply a deeper vetting of such people who attempt to purchase guns.

Such a solution won't likely be 100% effective. But 100% effectiveness is not the standard by which to evaluate the validity of laws, otherwise no law would be valid.

So when a Muslim goes to the middle-east for religious reasons he is subject to additional scrutiny? What about Jews going to Israel?

Do you really think the liberals pushing for more gun control would ever open that bag of worms? Again, the obvious practical steps for gun purchases are already in place.

My reality is that I don't judge people or situations based on looks, and I sure as hell don't speculate on their lifestyle decisions or situations based on their looks. I will debate opinions all day, but I just can't debate an opinion based on a lie. If someone used a photo of a Puerto Rican to back their theory that "Martin Luther King, Jr. was really light skinned for a black person" -- I would walk away from the conversation because the person is obviously A) an idiot B) a troll or C) both.

Even if that photo of the two radical Muslims wasn't them, the girl is not petite, hot, cute, or even attractive. You go with your bad self, and keep on theorizing if that makes you happy.

You asked me what additional things I would propose...and I listed them for you. What liberals might think of my proposals is not really relevant to what I would propose. Furthermore, if there suddenly happens to be Jewish/Israli connections to terrorist acts in the US, I would propose similar measures.

and on top of this all muslims should have men in black come visit them with that erase memory pen and make them forget about the black market and its existence...this will totally stop them from making a pressure cooker bomb or IED...because shooting is the only way to properly commit a terror act...

and if we tie their shoelaces they will not be able to attack quickly!

no its a plain shit idea...its one step away from making all muslims wear a band around their arm like the jews in ww2...sending a clear message to the muslim community: we blame YOU for the 0.1% of terrorism that muslims commit world wide as a natural reaction to the 99.9% that are committed by the US gov...WE spend 500billion$/year or murdering people but to americans the plural of anecdote is data! muslims are all terrorists

Except my proposal is not targeting just Muslims. I said anyone travelling to, or immigrating from, an ME country. You do know that would include Jews, Christians, atheists and agnostics...right?

does that include the US army? wait thats different because the US amry goes there to murder people, but if somebody wants to go visit relatives, and does not plan to murder anybody, then he ends up on some watch list?

how many people does he have to murder in the ME to qualify for keeping a gun in the USA?

No it would not include them, unless there is a military member who went AWOL in a ME country, or is convicted of murder...then yes such a person should receive extra scrutiny or have is right to own guns restricted.

oh so there is a double standard...US army flying over half the world to bomb and murder = ok BUT at the same time, normal people going to the ME not wanting to murder anybody = suspicious....murder or lose your right to bear arms...

sounds like a reasonable solution to me will spread love and tolerance around the world LOL

it will probably stop 1% of all terror attacks because you have to be a pretty stupid mother fucker not to be able to get a gun on the black market or make an IED but as long as americans feel safe

What double standard? I never said murder is ok. I said if there is a soldier convicted of murder, he should have his gun rights restricted.

A married couple with a 6-month-old child do not fit into the profile of domestic or ideological terrorists. This just doesn't add up -- it's possible but would be impossible to profile.

Women with 6-month-old children do not go on suicide shooting sprees with any regularity.

This is the dangerous thing about how people think of this situation today. This is not the muslims of 30 or 40 years ago.

This new age doesnt just radicalized in the mosques now. With internet, fast communication, propoganda this is a new age of terrorists have a wider and far reaching arm.

People today can become radicalized over a computer screen without hearing a negative word in a mosque.

This "new" ideology is younger, angrier and more extreme then ever. They dont play by the same rules we do. They know the way the people in the west think and we are weak and vulnerable.

Its not about the muslims of the passed. Its about todays. This liberal lean has let the flood gates open. And as we see its always just a generation from things going extreme.

Its going to get worst not better anytime soon.

It doesn't add up to me either. A terrorist doesn't attack his co-workers in the place. At the same time, something was up because he had pipe bombs all over the place.

Im thinking the baby was a part of the plan. Just look at the timing. They've been working on the plan for longer than a while, 15 months since conception for the child, I can see something like this taking a couple years plus to get psyched up and prepared for.

from what I've heard on the news is he was at the party and got mad. He then left and went home and got suited up and returned. Just a idea but maybe this was a terrorist guy but someone at the party really pissed him off so he decided he would kill them all that day rather than his planned target in the near future. Co worker had been saying that he had been acting strange for mos. Who knows maybe someone at the party confronted him asking if he was a terrorist and he snapped. This place doesn't sound like a terror attack. More like a employee going postal.

One thing to remember, the suv was rented, the baby was left with grandma under fale pretenses.

I'm hearing he got into a heated argument about religion 2 weeks ago with a Jewish coworker. He killed that worker at the Christmas party.
