I agree with everything you've said. It used to be that people were locked into arguing over the best solution for a problem which everyone agreed is a problem. Now the issues aren't even the point anymore, much less the solutions. It's all kinda troubling and it reminds me of Russia where people would just say stupid shit and then win by pounding their fist on the table the hardest and longest, winning not the debate, but simply a contest of wills.

My brother's former mother-in-law is that way. She is one of those people who feels like hers is the only correct way and if you don't agree you are wrong. Even if you point out 100 ways how she is incorrect about something she will just scream until people finally give in and do what she wants. She hates me because I never just shut up and let her win.

My favorite moment involving her was one year at Thanksgiving we all finish eating and some people are in one room watching football and others go into another room to watch a movie. We start flipping through the channels and we happen across the movie Seven. Someone jokes about it being a happy holiday movie. She says it is disgusting and should be banned. We tell her we were joking about watching it and switch the channel. She continues to go off about how movies like that should be banned. I point out that just because she doesn't like it doesn't mean it should be banned. She loves riding horses, I think that is a waste of time and money, but I don't think it should be banned. We debate this for a few minutes and then she said, "Well, if it were up to me, there would be no movies like this!" I said, "Well, I'm glad that is why we normally don't let crazy people be in charge." Even her husband laughed. She stomped out of the room and spent the next hour in the next room explaining to them why movies like Seven should be banned. This was several years ago. She will still occasionally comment on it. The last time I saw her was last year at Christmas when my brother had a bunch of people over and she was there to see his kids. She said something like, "Watch any movies that should be banned lately?"

You really do not get it.

The people who fund Presidential and politicians elections were on a gravy train ride. They tell politicians what to do.

Trump is your only chance to break the hold of the big donors over your life. When the next elections come around in your area, Google who controls the candidates. The voters aren't in the list.

The UK has the same problem. The referendum on EU membership was won by the Leave camp. Now the Remain Camp, which most MPs are in, now want to make sure the UK can't leave.

We are at 4.6% unemployment right now. I cannot wait to see where unemployment is two years from.
Bush should have stopped it, but didn't. Still, makes Clinton guilty of creating the situation which needed to be stopped. Obama could have pulled out of the ME instead, he went in and fucked up again.

Unemployment at 4.6%

Poverty at 13.5 percent and climbing.

He alone can't change it. It needs people to start voting for people who aren't in the pockets of billionaires. And so far Americans are willfully negligent in that area.

I disagree with the whole premise that Joe Average is somehow suffering worse than he ever did, and the pesky politicians have let him down by not fixing it. This is such a crock of shite. The poor have always been poor and the average will remain so. If average Joe does not educate himself and find some skills that are in demand then he is fucked.

Average Joe needs to get out of his pickup and learn to code. Ex coal miners need to re train in industries that are thriving. Car plant workers need to ask themselves why the Germans and the Japanese build a better more aspirational car. And now unfortunately, truck drivers and cab drivers are about to go the same way when automation takes their jobs.

Politicians have not failed these people, unless of course you think we should dig coal even if other fuels are cheaper and cleaner, that everyone should drive a shitheap car, and that their should be laws against automation. Society changes - people have to change. The state does its best to help, no one starves, everyone gets a basic education, but if you dont take responsibility for your own future, then I am sorry an immigrant or a foreign worker might do your job for less money, but more than likely it will be a machine that puts you out of work.

Are we really saying we want big government spoon feeding us ?
you are really clueless about what's happening.

Learning to code, that's a stupid solution for all but those with advanced Math's degrees.

Read what Mark Carney said and get a clue.

Both sides have the same owners. The solution is to vote for the Third candidates whoever they are. Which is what Trump is.

Sorry, but Trump is not a third candidate. He is surrounding himself with establishment people, his general election got a ton of money from the RNC and he is likely not going to do much of anything to change things.

Trump has no experience in government and how it works, and he won't be able to get things done. Anything he does get done will most likely benefit big businesses and not the average worker. Business as usual - the rich get richer.

+1

I employ 7 full time coders, no degree of any sort between them.

But that was not the point - low skilled uneducated persons are going to find life increasingly tough.

So you can sit in small town rust belt USA whining and voting for populist arseholes who tell you its all the fault of pesky foreigners and feckless corrupt politicians, or you can wake up and see that Apple and Google dont give a shit about you. They are going to spend their huge ill-gotten cash reserves making more machines to make you even more unemployable. But dont worry, at least they have encrypted your phone so that the FBI cannot spy on you !

it was politically impossible to stop... any attempt to put brakes on it would have been described as: "Republican cocksuckers are against affordable housing! they want to make it harder for low and middle class families to get mortgages!"...

so no, Bush administration couldn't do much without committing political suicide...

and in hindsight it all seems obvious, but like you said no one wanted it to stop, everyone (not just banks) was making $$ hand over fist, and so everyone wanted the good times to last a bit longer, no one wanted it to end...

Final Popular Vote Total Almost Done: Clinton Lead Swells to 2.7 million

Everyone knows he's a dick and he says obnoxious shit... that isn't going to change.

How about we all focus on what matters such as examining how these two thoroughly unfit people rose to the top to begin with???

yeah, i can't even argue with that... That's exactly where the focus should be, no doubt. where the fuck was your voice of reason the past few months when the lunatics took over anyway? heh

So basically what you just said is if they did anything about it it would be political suicide or.... They can take the entire country and the world economy down with them.

No one wanted to it stop. No one. Not the public, not the government, and surely not the banks. No one wanted it to end. But we all knew it was going to end eventually.
