The Walking Dead

I have watched every single episode ever aired, most the same day they were aired. I watched more than half the series twice when my girlfriend wanted to see what it's about and catch up to the latest season. I have come to the conclusion that, although I can't get enough of it and I'm always wanting to watch what happens next, this may be one of the worse television shows ever created.

Its first major fault is it suffers from horrible pacing. The episodes, how they are constructed, and the order in which the story is told, simply does not work. After ending an episode with a great cliffhanger, we are almost guaranteed to have to bear through one or two more episodes, with sub-plots sometimes completely unrelated to the main story. Most of the characters are boring and very unlikable, as well as not believable. In my opinion the show would be better off following a traditional narrative where several plots are handled in short scenes of 3 ? 5 minutes approximately.

The dialogues are sometimes really bad, especially when get into those Bold- and-Beautiful- type- soap- opera conversations that make you cringe. Some of the bad guys are interesting, others are pretty pathetic. Sorry but this Neegan guy just doesn?t convince me. He comes off more as a total douche than a legitimate badass. And why does he have to dip his shoulders back every time he says something? Personally I though the Governor was more convincing as a villain.

Anyway, not sure why I like it so much. But I?ve always been a fan of the zombie genre and love zombie apocalypse stories, so that must be it. Still, the show sucks ass and whenever someone asks me I tell them it sucks but I still watch it.

It's been spinning its wheels lately, but this happens to every series as it gets more popular and more episodes are ordered. Once popularity and advertising dollars come into play, tight and efficient narratives give way to what can only be called "filler". By the end of the season you'll realize it could have been edited down 7 or 8 episodes and would have actually been more engaging.

Sure but it has had these issues since the first few seasons. It seems that this is the way they want to run the show. I forgot to mention one other thing, the way the seasons are split into 2 parts of 8 episodes is not good for it at all.

It also stretches the gullibility of viewers to the point of insulting them.

OK zombies are fake and we have to accept them as existing. Last episode I watched was 40 minutes of nothing when the bad guys visit the good guys and take all their stuff. They open the garage doors using electricity. WTF.

The good guys are never seen working the fields. Now they have to feed all the bad guys. We see running water, gas is always on tap, it never rains, snows or gets cold, no one catches even a cold. The bad guys don't seem to have many women and don't take any.

Just make the whole thing a lot more than simple mindless killing. Even that they don't get right, in the real world Rick would be dead as the leader along with anyone else who shows sign of leadership. And the bad guys would be in amongst the good guys to make sure they work hard.

Yeah, there is a lot of that too. I can overlook most of these things if the story is interesting and moves along at a nice pace. But it doesn't. Like I said, worst show ever, but I still watch it because I like zombies. Whatever.

That's no excuse for insulting our intelligence. Or bad writing. Last season they were baking cookies. Think about what's needed to make a biscuit.

Water and food would be killing more people than zombies. Modern man couldn't feed himself and before we had tap water we drank beer or wine so as not to get sick and die.

Sometimes they show characters sitting down for a meal and I''m almost envious of them. Where do they get such good shit? They authentically fulfilled.

I gave up a series back, it just goes glacier slow plotwise - I mean, I like well thought out stories but there is so much padding there.

Extremely boring and annoying.

^^ And this
The Governer was like a cult leader, that made it convincing why people would follow him.
Negan is supposed to be a big ruthless badass, but he isn't convincing. Yes he's tall, but he has this weird skinny body. One gut punch and it will be enough to floor him. If your tactic is to impress people what a tough ruthless guy you are this isn't working.
Also, essentially he's keeping everyone in his crew hostage. It seems that nobody likes him, and that makes it even more unconvincing that his 'system' works. It's just not realistic. A leader has to have a base that at least likes him or is brainwashed to like him.

So: Nobody likes him, he kills or fucks people they love, and somehow nobody kills him. And also keep in mind all those people have been fighting for their life in the post apocalyptic zombie world for about a decade. And they let this guy somehow walk all over them.

It's turning in to a fantasy world now. I know the Kingdom is tongue and cheek, and even Ezekiel himself acknowledges how silly his whole king act is. But these new emo people who live in the junk yard are just ridiculous. Why do they all scowl and look serious, and their leader speak like she's from another planet? Don't even get me started on the "bop-bop" sequence. That's all Rick needs at this time --- a hole in his hand and a ripped up leg. And he'd be dead from an infeciton in a couple of days, because you know Bop Bop doesn't keep his spikes clean.

It lacks reality.

Whenever there is a minor crisis, compared to when the world turns into a crisis, the first priority is clean water and food. After a few days clean water would have run out and any water found would have to be boiled.

Without farming, tinned foods would run and farming would be the second priority. Back in the days of people living like this they only fought wars when the men weren't needed on the farms. Supporting a community like the Saviours would be impossible the way the show is portrayed.

In America, there are 112.6 guns per 100 people. The average guns per gun owner are 8. So finding arms if someone takes them away from you, would be easy.

As for not carrying a shield to fend off walkers, well that's simply stupid. Imagine the damage a shield wall can do against a pack of walkers. Using knives instead of swords is also silly.

Stupid things like cooking cakes, biscuits, pies, etc. Where is the fresh, flour, butter, sugar, dairy goods coming from? Soldiers killed by zombies while they were inside tanks. The last community of losers was just silly.

I can believe a community like the Saviours running large areas. But not the way it's portrayed on the show. The weak ones would end up as serfs just not be left alone to walk away.

As for multiple often pointless plot lines. Game of Thrones wins that contest. At least Walking Dead doesn't need to keep showing fuck scenes and girls tits.

The problem is the people who run the networks are too scared of trying something new, innovation and finding good writers. Watching Pure at the moment. It's a one series idea. Bet they try to spin in into as many as possible as long as viewing figures are good. When will they show the problems these cults have with inbreeding? Deformed children and child deaths? https://www.google.cz/webhp?hl=en&gw...ite+inbreeding

I kind of lost interest in The Walking Dead when they got into that love triangle thing - Just not what I was into. I am back into it and it seems good now. Negan is just freaking awesome.

There would be TONS of food laying around if an infection spread that quickly, plus finding water would not be a problem. You can filter it like Eugen taught them thru a bottle, or simply find an abandoned sporting goods store and take all their lifestraws, 1000 liters per straw would last a long long time. And it's only been what 2 years in the span of the entire show so far? Even that long?

Dehydrated milk lasts forever, MRE's 30 years if kept cool. I mean they could literally find anything they wanted if it spread as fast as they portray it. Agree, everyone should be trained to use a sword and have shields, or hell get one of those body armor suits that covers your arms up to your neck, even your hands can't get cut thru, or feet/legs. I know it's hot, but you wanna die or be hot? Plus you know how easy it is to make reloads from your spend shell casings? Basically if they had one US Army survival issued notebook it would tell them how to do everything. Plus all the solar on all the homes, take those panels and use them, they are all over the place.

This is one of the things I do not understand about The Walking Dead.

I think after such an event it would be more like the movie "I Am Legend". He lived in a nice big house in the middle of the city, drove around in a nice new Mustang and a new SUV. He had top end weapons. He spent his days scavenging for supplies be it food or medication or weapons.

If everyone in the world died I would be driving anything I wanted.

It cracks me up when they all drive beat up SUVs on The Walking Dead. There would be dealerships full of brand new cars to pick from.

what I see is every long term show start's eating it's self, in other words the writers have such limited experience they always turn the characters against each other rather than having the creativity to continue with episodic stories that resolve.
