Technically it was just a military counter-terror operation just like the anti-radical Islamic one we have on North Caucasus today. The USSR has controlled about 99% of Afghanistan in 1989 when Gorbachev decided to left Germany (Eastern Berlin) and Afghanistan alone to show the West that has has got no knife behind his back.

Your propaganda may shit into your head as much as it wants, but there is a documentary video posted above. That was a march of winners. They have accomplished the mission in 1979. After that the Soviet army has simple secured the country to keep Najibullah in power. We have lost about 15,000 during 10 years there. The Mujahideens have lost 670 thousands to two millions, according to wikipedia - 130 times more than Russia a dirty guerilla war!

Do you think that's not a good result? Just for a comparison, the United States have lost 58 thousands killed and 303 thousands wounded in Vietnam. You have officially lost that war to tiny Asians. There was not march of honor for you. That was just a cowardly escape.

No wonder your programs, suck ass.. you're a total fucking moron..

My father died in Vietnam when I was nine months old, so I am well aware of the deaths involved.

The United States never really lost a battle in Vietnam. However, there was very little public support for the war with the American public. The politicians didn't allow the military to do what it needed to do. At a certain point we had a choice between going all out or walking away, and the politicians decided it was time to get out.

@rochard;

I'm sorry your dad died along with some of my friends, my friends brothers and my teacher's son in the war.

I am sorry they died fighting a fight that was not really theirs to fight.

That was so long ago but it still saddens me.

Hey when I make jokes about our losses in Vietnam being nothing because we breed quickly in America I dont mean to minimize your loss. I'm sorry the war robbed you of your Dad he was a great hero to sacrifice for us all. Much respect 💓

Sad to hear that, but have you asked yourself a question: what for your father has died?

Sure. That's why the free version has almost 50 thousand downloads at wordpress.org and why almost everybody here uses the commercial one. Must be because I'm such a moron in history and in programming too

I really can't understand how you guys can be so brainwashed. How you heard something about Internet? Maybe somebody told you that any kind of information is freely available there, or pornhub is the only site you are familiar with? This is Vietnam:

I won't post more images here, because they are really TERRIBLE. Is this something you have to be proud for your army? Burning kids with napalm? Oh these brave soldiers were such heroes.

This is the invasion into Russian Crimea (yes that's brutal and merciless invasion you are so worried about):

These are not staged Hollywood movies. This is a documentary. Feel the difference?

This is what happened during the failure of the space rocket engine. Watch it at 2:50 (that's an unique documentary footage):

The cosmonauts were ejected in the capsule and have survived.

As you may know, Russia did most of space launches in the human history (two times more than the USA) and lost only 4 cosmonauts in two accidents. In both cases the people have died during the landing: determination of the capsule and a failure of parachute system. No single cosmonaut has died during the rocket launch so far.

In contrast to Russia, the United States have no technologies to equip their rockets with life saving systems. Thus in case of failure the astronauts are doomed and they have no single hope to be saved...

Don't think that I'm trying to make fun of this tragedy or so. No way! I'm just showing you that the real US technologies and not the same as the ones shown in your countless movies. They are too overpriced far not the best ones in the world like Hollywood tries to show it... You were the 2nd in the space and only because Nazi genius like Von Braun have done all the job for you. Today Von Braun is dead and the Russian rocket technologies is the only way to send your astronauts to the outer space.

So the US Constitution has sent him to that war? The Constitution told the US army to burn Vietnamese kids with napalm? I have already posted this link above: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_Massacre

Who did that to the kids? Who has raped and killed them? Some mad animals or the brave US soldiers? What for???

You either are apparently ignorant about the US Constitution and the US political system or are just a troll. I suspect that you are alittle of both. Being that the US is a Republic, the US Constution provides for the election of people to represent them in governance of the country, which includes the President of the country. It was the elected representatives of the people that made the decision to engage our military, specifically upon the orders of the President of the US who is the ultimate Commander in Chief of US military forces.

Civilians micro manage the US military, which said management includes when to engage , where to engage and how long to engage our military forces. It also includes target selection, rules of engagement, and the goals of the engagement, the type of weapons that may be used during the engagement etc. etc. etc.

My father died because he believed in a higher cause, and supported our government. At the time, our government believed it was in our best interests to prevent Vietnam from becoming Communist. You can argue this was a valid goal, although you would have to take a long look at the history of Vietnam to have a proper discussion.

What happened with Vietnam had a massive effect on our society here in the United States. Our military and the support for our military was at it's lowest point ever both from a moral standpoint as well as fighting ability. The general population hated the government, the politicians, and the military. The military itself had crumbled; Officers had no control over the men in their unit and were afraid to enter the barracks. There is a great book about this called the Long Gray Line - It details the Army West Point Class of 1966, their training, Vietnam, and the aftermath and how it effected their lives.

Our military has changed a lot since then. Take a good look at what happened in Iraq - twice. To put it in perspective, The Iraq - Iran war lasted eight years, hundreds of thousands died, and it ended in a stalemate. The United States went in and destroyed the Iranian military and their government in weeks.

Something very similar happened with the Soviet Union with Afghanistan. (I don't know much about it but I just ordered a book off of Amazon.)

It's difficult to compare the Russian military to the American military. Russia doesn't even have a blue water navy. It's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, isn't nuclear powered, and recently sailed around Europe to the Mediterranean which was, well, comical. The only aircraft carrier is in such poor shape it had to be freaking towed to Syria.

I read that book years ago and it is well written and informative in multiple ways. I can't recall the name of the Cadet but he was the most gung ho of all of the Cadet's in the class and when he was in Vietnam he became so disillusioned with the war and the way it was being fought, he was Court Martialed, if my memory serves me well, for disobeying orders given to him by a Major who was in a chopper above him. He did not want to see anymore of his men get wasted so he refused to reengage them in a battle as he was ordered to do. If I recall correctly his men and he had been engaged for several days, were suffering with lack of sleep, very low on ammo, water, food etc. Had already lost alot of men, were heading for an extraction point, when this Major ordered them to turn back and engage a unit that was following them. He refused this order.

What century do you live in? Do you really think that there will be Midway-style sea battles in 21st century? Like two aircraft carriers against each other? Why not swordsmen and archers then? Just imagine the US dragoons vs Russian musketeers on horses. What a battle could it be, ah?!

Man, the anti-ship missiles were invented a long time ago. Surprised? One cruise missile is 1000000's times cheaper than an aircraft carrier, but it's much more effective. There will be no Kamikazes or anything like that. It will be as simple, as cheap and as effective as this:

I have no idea why Putin has decided to take the rusty and half-dead Admiral Kuznetsov to Syria. I think the old man has a senility. The aircraft carriers are dinosaurs nowadays - they are just a joke. Nobody will use them in a real war, because they will be sunk in the first minutes of any military conflict.

In fact it will be a bit worse, because according to the Russian military doctrine, the tactical nuke warheads will be used against the enemy aircraft carriers. One small tactical nuke of 500 kilotons exploded about 100-200 meters above the entire battle group will do the trick. E.g. SS-N-19 "Shipwreck" or SS-N-27 "Sizzler". They are cheap, fast and have about 2000-2500 tactical range (can be launched from planes, ships and submarines).

Quite a display of ignorance on your part. You are not a tactition if you cannot see the need for aircraft carriers and seem to be ignorant of strategic consequences of using nukes in any scenario.

One small tactical nuke of 50 kilotons exploded about 100-200 meters above the entire battle group will do the trick.
Quite a display of ignorance on your part. You are not a tactition if you cannot see the need for aircraft carriers and seem to be ignorant of strategic consequences of using nukes in any scenario.

Which country it could be used against? Somalia? Sorry but I don't think that the US taxpayers will be happy to know that it absolutely useless against other armies because they have the modern anti-ship cruise missiles and tactical nukes. China, India, Iran and even Pakistan can sink it in minutes. What is the reason to spend such a big money to it?

Looks like fun

How many US astronauts were not delivered to the outer space by Russian rockets? What's about the Curiosity rover? ;) Do you really think they won't be able to deliver a nuke when needed? ;)

The mobile ICBM nuke launcher sends a commercial satellite to the orbit:

Note the time it needs to prepare for the launch and to send a spaceship to the outer space. Enjoy

Actually that's not so simple. The Soviet S-125 "Neva" missile was made in 1961, so it just didn't know the super-duper US stealth plane was invisible.

Don't worry. It was punished, ashamed and told to never take down F-117A in future. No kitty! A bad kitty!

So you honestly think Russia will win the war against The United States of America?

(again, I love Russian people this is not about them)

No one will. The USA have no single chance to survive just like Russia, Australian or Colombia. The whole planet will be destroyed, and for a few thousand years even a grass won't grow here.

No. But only because no one else has aircraft carriers.

Well, Russia has one. But isn't nuclear powered, and couldn't even make it around Europe to the Mediterranean without refueling and without breaking down. China also has an aircraft carrier, which they bought from Russia, but that is not even functioning.

So you think Putin would start a nuclear war because he lost a battle or two? I don't think so.

Trump is more maniacal and egocentric than Putin, he'll push harder than any president so far because Putin will inevitably lie to him and fuck him over, like Putin does all agreements, this is why he has so many problems around the world.
