City in Holland does test with anonymous job applications of prevent discrimination by foreign names

A city in Holland did a test where they would make job applications anonymous, to counter discrimination against for example a foreign name (read: Arab name).

So now they could only pick candidates for jobs at the city solely by skill, without any prejudice... Finally equal opportunities for all!

Of the 36 applicants who were accepted, 1 turned out to have a foreign name... So now they stopped the test because only white people got jobs... Never mind that the system was 100% fair - this outcome was not desired!

So what do we learn?
- People with foreign names are not discriminated against, but are preferred over people with Dutch names when job applications are not anonymous, disregarding skill.
- The desire wasn't equality, otherwise they would have adopted this system for years to come.
- They rather prefer discrimination against Dutch people instead of getting the person for the job with the best skills for that job

Another great example how the minds work of the diversity screaming racists

1. This test was run because of proven instances of discrimination in the job market, but let's not let facts get in the way. In a blind test you only have skill to go on, nothing else. In regular tests, when you have things like race, age, religion, etc. to go on many other governing factors come into play. Will the foreign name be cheaper to hire? Will he be more receptive to certain working conditions that a native wouldn't. Would he be prepared to work certain holidays that a native wouldn't.

2. You'd now need to run another test to see what the employee turnover rate is from blind applicant hires and weigh it against normal hires where everything is known about the applicant.

3. You're expecting the system to change after one test that has inherent flaws and you think, "The desire wasn't equality, otherwise they would have adopted this system for years to come."

4. "They rather prefer discrimination against Dutch people instead of getting the person for the job with the best skills for that job"

Who is this "They"? The people that conducted the test? Weren't they native Dutch? Also, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who DOESN'T hire on skill alone. Depending on the job, I'll have loads of other criteria that affects who I hire.

Razor has some really good points, but I think this test is a great idea. I'd love to see the results on things such as turnover etc., though.

"They" are the civil servants who do the hiring for other civil servant jobs at the municipality (is that the correct word?). Around here government bodies all obey the "politically correct" agenda the leaders in the western world are pushing. It doesn't matter what color or nationality they have, they're slaves of this agenda where diversity and illogical political correct extremism is a priority, and everything rational is demoted to a pesky side issue.

The test is actually a great idea, IF they can figure out how to work out all the flaws.

I have a feeling high employee turnover is going to be an issue. Unless, the 36 applicants were just successful in stage 1 of the application process. And they all failed at the interview stage. If that's the case, you now need to run yet another test to see if blind applications take more time than regular applications, due to higher failure rates at the interview stage.

Yeah, sorry nico, this just isn't ready for primetime yet.

How are you suppose to check reference to determine if the applicant's experience? "Hi, did you at some point have a man working for you that did this, this and that?

Interesting test Nico but not a surprise for either of us. Lots of minorities, none whites and foreigners that aren't the best choice for a position based on skill, experience and know-how still gets the job.

They're enforcing it in my country as well, I guess a method to distribute wealth and status to under privileged minorities/foreigners all in the name of our enforced multi cultural societies.

I'm pretty feed up with it

It seems like a study such as this would have to be something really big in order to to get quality data. In my eyes you would have to run it over a fairly long period of time and in many different job fields because some jobs attract a certain type of person. You would also need to try it out in different areas of the country and so on.

It's an interesting idea. I'd like to see it tried on a large scale.
