My go-tos are goat cheese with fresh basil on cracked wheat crackers, smoked salmon, fresh unsalted caviar, crab claws, pine nuts, large limento stuffed green olives, home made Phở soup, lightly buttered fresh tilapia fish with lime & my most favorite is BBQ eel sushi with a side of fresh American grown Edamame.

Cut out sugar and other carbs. If you have carbs make sure it's from fresh fruit and veg - not fruit juice.

Eat as much fat and protein as you like. There are essential fats and essential proteins but there are no essential carbs.

Also keep it balanced, don't just eat one or two types of fruit, eat them all.

^^ what he said, plus things made from wheat. Generally fits in with carbs but people don't think about it.

Awesome your making positive changes!

maybe work on making better what your currently doing, so if your eating more salads, its going to be useless unless your making your own dressings, commercial ones are full of sugar, salt and weird chemical shit.

some base pantry items to make your own good ones will be:

Balsamic vinegar
white vinegar
redwine vinegar

olive oil
extra virgin olive oil
Dijon Mustard
Fresh Garlic
Fresh Thyme
Fresh lemons
black/ white peppercorn grinder
Maldon Sea Salt

have the above ingredients in your pantry and you'll be making awesome dressings for years

Has the board name Gout been taken yet? you might want to reserve it for the future

Goats Cheese, Crackers, Edamame, stuffed olives, Phở soup

These things all contain obscene amounts of salt, if they are your go to snacks... your eating yourself into a heart attack. Salt is as addictive as sugar but kills FAR more..

https://www.forbes.com/sites/daviddi.../#4215d669432d

Low salt/ reduced salt these are marketing phrases to make you buy salt saturated products.

1 teaspoon of salt per day.. is the human diet limit, you have more then your doing arterial damage

1 teaspoon = 5 ml / 4.2 grams

the only way your going to know, is by deciphering the packet, my advise is .. do some research, set your own levels, get one of these magnifying glasses with lights, blow a big fat joint, spend the rest of the day going through the cupboard, anything that is off the charts, push it to the side. Next time you go shopping look for a replacement with half the amount of salt.

Also grab yourself a bottle of Thai Fish Sauce, its a salty as fuck! but its a natural unrefined salt of thai stuff ;) The Thai add it to everything, in place of salt

My wife has Conn's syndrome, its an adrenal gland issue

https://www.labtestsonline.org.au/le...onditions/conn

Once she was diagnosed, the first thing we had to do was look at every salt intake in our lives and make changes, but it made me realise we all eat cups of salt a week, they put it in everything and there is always a lower salt alternative.

This is a very strange question, because it's boring to eat the same food everyday. Personally I'm used to have a different menu.

For example, yesterday it was a sandwich with cheese, onions and salami + chicory drink and mint tea at the morning. After that it was a Russian chicken borsch with greens and sour cream. For the dinner I ate grilled chicken wings with vegetables (tomatoes, celery, onion) and pepper sauce + 3 cans of non-alcoholic beer. Before to go sleep I ate about 150 grams of chocolate ice-cream. Plus a couple of bananas, cashew, almond, hazelnut and about 50 grams of dark bitter chocolate.

Today my menu will be a way different. We rarely visit restaurants and cafes, so I and my wife are used to cook everything at home. Perhaps I'll won't be so lazy and make a Thai Tom Yum soup with chicken broth, coconut milk, seafood, roasted garlic, mushrooms, peppers, etc..

Maybe tomorrow I'll ask my wife to make Asian pilaf and cheese soup with mushrooms or French garlic soup for me.

Sir I would very much appreciate it if you could post your wife's "Russian chicken borsch with greens and sour cream" recipe. Just how you have it at home.

There is no some super-duper secret recipe for it. Course it may differ somehow according to your personal taste, but in general, it's a very simple dish. Just google for Russian chicken borscht recipe and you'll find a lot of step-by-step instructions. For a first time use the simplest one. After that you may start experimenting with the ingredients. Just make sure you have a sour cream to put a full spoon of it over your hot borscht and pour it with green parsley, coriander (if you like it) and dill. Also we are used to eat it with fresh garlic and rye bread (Eastern Russian way) or with pampushkas (Western Russian way, since 1991 known as the Ukrainian one). I know that garlic smells very "specific", but it makes borscht even more tasty. If you do it right, a portion should look like this (Eastern way):

or like this (Western way):

You can also serve it with salo and cold vodka:

So you eat the garlic in one hand while soup is in the other? or put it in the soup? or crush it into the toast? Thanks for the Pampushka link I'll try those.

and back to your wife's borsch what cut of Chicken does she use? and how does she do the beetroot? grated or diced?

The classic way is to bite and chew it by small pieces. But personally I like to chop it right into the soup, when it's served (not before!)

A chicken breast usually as a fool piece (not grated or diced) to not let it boil soft and make the broth cloudy. When borscht is ready, you may сhop that meat into the soup - depending on your personal preferences. Actually I'm the only meat eater because my wife is a vegan. Even those products that contain eggs or milk are no-no for her, because its exploitation of animals. So if she cooks a vegan version of borscht for herself with vegetable bouillon.

Indeed. Steak is a rather expensive food (especially if it's a good rib-eye part of Black Angus. Also I don't think it's very healthy to eat it every single day. Once a week or so should be ok IMHO.
