You're welcome! And they did at the start because there wasn't enough supply for healthcare workers and I say they're doing it again to build supply, while pushing more vaccines.

India is smashing their outbreak with vaccines and double masking, Indonesia is about to follow the same route plus many other South Asian countries where these new variants are exploding in numbers.

Slight problem is that represents about 2.5 billion people. Many of these countries have just started vaccine roll outs so for the vast majority, masking and social distancing is all they have and of course these are the very countries 50%+ of our masks in the West come from.

..We're back or soon to be, not having enough masks again.

How do you figure man? The new variants are the same size. They are going to be exactly as effective against any variant. It's N95 or nothing with ANY covid variant. That's the minimum to filter it, and anything above that (N99) you will be starved of oxygen. Maybe saturation won't drop per-say but breathing is definitely labored and difficult.

The situation in India is what it is because it's crowded as fuck and filthy as fuck. Many people don't even have a place to wash their hands. They wash in the Ganges, dispose of their dead in the Ganges, etc. It's not exactly a model of sanitation even before any kind of pandemic. It's not because they aren't masking. The Indian variant anywhere in the west would look dramatically different.

Dude, I am a journalist and I learned long, long ago (before I joined this board) who to have serious discussions with and who were ass hats stuck in their ideology.

Debating "facts" is useless in 2021 and has been for a long time now. You know as well as I do that "facts" are no longer "facts" but "my truth" and "fake news". So going back-and-forth, citing this study vs. that report, is a completely useless exercise I will not engage in.

Having said that, someone saying they don't wear masks because they don't give a fuck about anyone else doesn't need "facts" to be debated. That person is a selfish cunt, end of discussion. Will my engaging them in a meaningful discussion change their attitude about others? No it will not.

I am not really in the Politics section much nor do I give long answers like this in threads like this. I am too busy working and I do not argue with people set in their ways.

Masks don't do enough to affect viral load. The old variants went through even the N95 masks to infect whole nursing homes, residences and hospitals - places where people take the most precautions and the employees there are highly trained in wearing them.

If people who are trained to wear them properly with the best available masks can't do so then what is average Joe going to do with a piece of cloth?

The bottom line is they don't know how to deal with, interpret, or respond to facts. They get their information from the TV and, regardless of how much proof to the contrary, they take what they see as gospel and nothing will ever change their mind unless the message they get from the TV changes.

The simple fact is, these bullshit "masks" people are wearing aren't protecting anyone. The ONLY masks that would affect slowing the spread of a virus are N95 respirators or better, but even then, you still have other open orifices and a virus isn't transmitted in only one fashion.

The "vaccine" doesn't stop one from getting or transmitting the virus and is untested to boot. It was rushed to market and sold to millions of people through fear. The fact that no one in the world has any information on short or long-term side effects should terrify the common person, but these days, people are so ignorant, gullible, and indoctrinated, they'd literally eat a pile of shit if Fauci told them it would protect them from covid.

The numbers do not lie, regardless of what they tell you on TV. FL and NY are so close in comparison they are statistically equal. One state had the most strict mandates, guidelines, and lockdowns, the other didn't. Yet, the end result between the 2 is statistically identical.

I've noticed this as well. They tend to get very uncomfortable and defensive when you put facts in front of their faces that defy their beliefs and so they twist things around and call you names to defect from the main points.

The reason is because they are not arguing from an intellectual level but rather an emotional/religious one. It's why your point about them changing their minds only when the TV (religion) changes it's mind is true. Kind of like trying to tell ultra religious people that the world wasn't created in 6 days. Surgical masks have never been used to mitigate virus transmission. They're used to mitigate bacteria transmission.

Virus particles are far too small for anything less than N95, which is what N95 was specifically designed for.

Bacteria particles are much larger than virus particles, and can, for the most part, be mitigated through the use of surgical masks, which is their intended purpose.

And even if surgical masks provided the slightest amount of viral transmission mitigation, the simple fact of the matter is most people wear what equates to a t-shirt or worse in "protection".

This entire notion that wearing masks has helped mitigate the spread of covid is an absolute farce.

The fact they had to change the definition of the term "herd immunity" in order to push the "vaccine" is another huge farce.

And the only reason any of this is political is that y'all make it so. You love to think anyone who is against mask mandates or this untested, rushed-to-market so-called vaccine is an "evil, racist, sexist, homophobic, granny killing republican", but that's just simply not factual.

Anyway, I know nothing I say here will sway you in any way, shape, or form because you only trust the TV, so I'll end with this...

At the end of the day, you do what you think is best for you and I'll do the same... but we both know that won't happen.
