My driver's licence expired recently. Paxum gave me 5 days notice that I needed to re-verify. I did the verification process (which is now via an external AI "take a selfie" site) twice and after some confusing replies they've come back and said that my driver's licence is not an acceptable form of ID. This is despite them accepting it on two prior occasions. It's a valid government issued ID that is possessed by hundreds of thousands of people in my state.

Anyone else having problems with Paxum rejecting an ID that was previously accepted?

Does RuthB still work for them? She's been idle on this board for 3+ months

It was hell, I had to make a new passport only for paxum, because with other documents that they said could be valid, they always threw them back...

Well , driver ID is not really real ID, so strange how they accepted it before. Only personal ID and passport are considered real ID's.

Not in the US or Australia. In both countries, a DL is very much a valid form of ID and in many cases, the only form people have.

Damn, that looks like the situation I'm in right now. I have asked for more suggestions on acceptable documents, but so far the only one is a passport - which I do not have, and will have to apply for.

It was a pain in the ass to upload photos of my ID (usually took 2 or 3 tries) but surely they should have warned us well in advance that their KYC requirements were now so much more strict.

It will take me at least 6 weeks to get a passport. Paxum gave me 5 days notice of the expiring ID, then took a week to tell me that they would not accept my new licence.

It's a primary ID here in Australia. You can usually open a bank account with a driver's licence plus a utility bill to prove your address.

Well, paxum is not based in AU or US unfortunately. In my country it's even mandatory to have personal ID, you cant just have driver ID.

Right, but Paxum considered my ID & utility bill acceptable for the past 6 years, including right up to the day it expired. If there was suddenly some major issue with using an Australian driver's licence as ID then I would have been going through this much earlier.

A driver's license in your country is a valid form of identification (unless somebody asks for an ID number) since it contains a photo and is issued by the same authority as a personal ID. Yet it cannot be used in nearby countries even though a personal ID could.

Regional state-issued driver's license in the USA and Australia (and some other countries) is typically the only means of identifying a person. In the USA, an SSN card could be an alternative (this could be an issue elsewhere since it doesn't contain all the elements needed). You cannot use your social insurance number (SIN) card as an ID in Canada.

Usually, a document has to meet the following requirements to be considered an ID in most countries:
- to be valid,
- to include your name,
- to include date of birth,
- to include a photo,
- to include a signature,
- to be issued by a federal, provincial, territorial or state government authority or the equivalent abroad.

That usually means a passport, a personal ID and/or a driver's license.

If any of those elements is not met, that ID is usually not considered a valid way to identify a person.

In Dominica, Canada and Romania, all 3 documents could be used interchangeably for identifying within the country. For international identification, it's a standard norm that a passport is required (excluding within the EU, where a personal ID is acceptable).

Whatever their KYC policy is, that only means that Paxum should update their pages if they don't allow a specific document to be used (like anything other than a passport) or if they need more documents. Usually, the best thing is to provide them with a bill under your name, which is used as proof of address.

But Klen, you are right on point - those are usually two different documents that are not interchangeable in some countries. And yes, Paxum should update its KYC policy if there are any changes. Unless Paxum does not want any clients, they should take a different approach and be proactive by educating their support and their users.

literally every company I work with has other payout options, and they're all way less of a pain in the ass.

Enforcing of Paxum app means I have to go through the verification process again, and once more, it has been rejected.

Now I have to wait a few weeks for Ruth to reply and kick someone into gear.

Support has been in contact but it's a very slow process. It took them 6 weeks to come back with "how about you try this" and now they've closed the ticket.
