Not near as much as in Thailand. HIV rate among working women is 80-90%, depending on the area. And that quote came from one of the major travel guide publishers. Have you ever been to Thailand? Things don't work that way there.

If it's about sex tourism - the girls get into trouble and not the tourist if they're caught and have to pay off the cops.

If it's about asian street meat and other sites by the same producer (Nigel) - most girls the producer fucks are from clubs and want to keep their income instead of getting everybody arrested.

Beside that thai cops are corrupt, as long as they aren't forced to show some arrests.

Seriously, the HIV numbers in Thailand are not really being told correctly. I did extensive research on this before I started shooting there a few years ago, as well as had conversations with several HIV specialists IN Thailand.

While the HIV rate among prostitutes is that high... 80-90%, they do not tell you that the majority of the prostitution in Thailand is NOT for the tourist. For those of you who go there, try to fathom this... ALL the whores you see in ALL of Thailand is about 2% of the total prostitution in Thailand!!! There are a few reports out there about this if you want to look for them.

So 98% of the whores are for Thai men who mostly refuse to wear condoms with prostitutes. Even worse, a large majority of all this takes place in the "Golden Triangle" areas where IV drug use runs rampant. So these guys AND girls are shooting up, sharing needles and fucking with no rubbers. It is an HIV breeding factory. In fact, the hill tribes are so infected now with HIV that they predict that within 8 to 10 years, most of the hill tribes in northern Thailand will no longer exist.

The other problem are the girls (who service tourist) who visit Karaoke bars and PAY THAI MEN TO FUCK THEM. OF course these men do not wear rubbers and the majority of these men are Bi-Sexual... spreading the bug once again to the girls. More girls do this than you know.

So the deal is, YES, HIV is high in Thailand among sex workers but the majority of it is with the sex workers who service Thai men, not foreigners. But it does exist in those areas quite a bit, but not 80%. Based on the number of positive girls we have tested, I would say around 10%.

WITH THAT SAID....

Just 2 - 3 weeks ago they release a report that HIV is on the rise again EVERYWHERE and they are expecting another epidemic equal or worse than what they had in the early 90's. That was a HUGE problem in all areas. So if it's coming back to that, and I know that with the increase of HIV girls we have tested that it is... Thailand is heading for dark days very soon.

In conclusion, just make sure your girl is pretty & young. It is impossible to catch something from a pretty 18 year old.

My gut feeling is that it is Brad, since they are looking for a Yank and he has not been seen for a while. The cops have been after him for years and he has had severtal close calls. Looks like it could be the end of the line for this poor guy... Like they say, if you play with fire and take the risk, sooner or latyer you will get burned.
