EPassporte: pathetic

  • Jul 07: I paid for an Electron card to replace the one which expired at the end of the month.
  • Jul 31: No response from EP when I ask where my card is, so I contact Keyser.
  • Aug 01: Keyser says he will order a new card.
  • Aug 10: Still no card. Useless template response from EP. Keyser says "we should hopefully have it today or tomorrow".
  • Aug 15: Keyser says "There have been some problems making the card and we should have received it yesterday and it will then be sent today or tomorrow."
  • Aug 16: Keyser say "Your card weren't produced as it should have been. We have ordered a new card for you and we will have it on Monday (edit: Aug 21) we will then overnight the card to you."
  • Aug 22: Card doesn't arrive. Mid-afternoon (CST) Keyser says "I have just been told it was sent today."
  • Aug 23: Card doesn't arrive. 10 hours after emailing Keyser to ask for tracking number, still no response from him.

And just to be clear, EPassporte have my correct address on file. It hasn't changed in four years and I don't believe they ever had another.

noted - post like this do affect my use of Epassporte.

So if you need some support for your liable suit, there you go. Or if you need reason to get the act together.......

That's BS...

An Eltron card printer ( with magnetic strip ) and an embossopr does the trick ...

I sold quite a few of those ( got them used from the Canadian Gov for next to nothing ) , including to Choice Hotels ( for door keys ), to companies doing Fidelity cards, and so on ...

I don't even understand how come they don't produce the cards themselves.

so i hit up keyser
he got me a new card (i had to pay for it )
i asked if i would have to pay for a new card agian in a few months sence it was expering
he said No he would get the money refunded to me as i just had to pay for another one due to the lack of quality of the card ....

few months later TWO cards show up ... i got billed for BOTH card ... they refunded me for one card and would not let me activate the other one ...

its because its not supposed tyo be used as a credit card so if it says VISA on it and has raised letters its a visa , if not its a bank card, i think its just so if the retailer has the old style manual swipe things , they dont accept it as a credit card..

I had that problem in some small town in utah and the dude got out of a pencil and put the card under the CC paper and did this shading thing and the letters came out

As far as time constraints go on new cards, I guarantee you... I can go to either of my banks tomorrow, tell them my existing card is worn out, and the girl will:

1. destroy my old card for me
2. create a new one in about 5 mins on their machine
3. help me activate it with my PIN #
4. Charge me nothing.

And yes, I've had to do this a few times in the past 15 years.

AND...if my card doesn't wear out my banks still send out new replacements every few years, again free of charge. They make enough money on my banking and transactions, they don't fucking need to charge me for a new card every time.

I'm sorry, I've never applied for an epass account, no sleight to Keyzer - he's good people... but there are just too many threads of people complaining. Far too many for my liking.

Epassporte's adult market will be DEAD the minute a better alternative comes out. Several are in the works, having learned how not to be incompetent when dealing with people's money.

Paypal offers a MasterCard debit card with (you guessed it) raised numbers. Hard to imagine there's guidelines on whether or not the numbers are raised.

Personally I really like that it doesn't have raised numbers.

It doesn't wear out as fast as my other cards.

hmmmm... Haven't we heard that a few times to much already? Epass might not be perfect but for 90% of non US webmasters it's a good way to recieve their money. Could be better but I'd still trust epassporte more than any newcommer that pops out of nothing.
Personally I just try to get all my funds out of the ATM as soon as possible, and the fact that that is possible as soon as I get the money in my account makes me feel secured.

Unless of course, you haven't had a card for 3 weeks with which you could take money from the ATM

i'd imagine they're giving those cards out through an issuing bank that is in the US and thus FDIC insured. the possibility that someone might get an imprint of your card and use it isn't even a concern to an FDIC insured bank - and they'll charge off any of your disputed claims quickly because they can afford to.

i *think* the reason the numbers aren't raised on the ePassporte electron cards is because the magnetic strip *must be* swiped in order for the holding bank that is not in the US to receive the information about your purchase. when the old shopkeeper with the imprint machine tries to call ePassporte's 800# with the number and expiration date of your card it won't make any difference because the bank holding the money offshore doesn't get any information about the transaction because the magnetic strip can't be swiped.

that's my best guess, not necessarily fact, but with a little training from ePassporte too.

That's because it's a Visa Electron. All the Bank that issue Visa Electron or Mastercard Electronic the numbers aren't raised. My Bank in asia issue Visa Electron, and the numbers aren't raised either. That's why the name is "Electronic"... it can only be processed that way.

It has nothing to do with the bank being offshore. Lots of banks offer VISA Electron cards, as well as Maestro cards (MasterCard's version), which both are only to be used for ONLINE transactions. Meaning you swipe it, it checks your account for available funds then says go or no go. With credit cards you can swipe them and even if the connection with the bank fails or you don't have funds in your account, you can technically still complete the purchase and receive the charges afterwards.

First of all, I agree about the card quality being shitty, within a year, the magnetic strip on my card shit out while I have a couple of credit cards that I used more than that for a couple of years and they still work just fine.

For me, I did contact them for a replacement card and they did get it to me in about 8 days which was faster than the 2 weeks that they told me it'd take.

I did have the problem where they froze my account because it was over $5,000 during the time my card was shitting out and the time it took to get the new one in.

I did fax in my info and got ahold of Keysor, within 2 hours he had my info verified and my account was working again.

So, for me, I had 2 problems and they took care of me beautifully, I couldn't ask for better support. I guess that for every person that has a good experience, there's a couple of others that haven't.

It should only take about 8 days to get a replacement card. According to Keyser, they produce cards twice a week.

Part of my delay, I am sure, was caused by people seeing that a card had been requested and then not bothering to check whether the order was actually being processed. And unfortunately, since most people seem to think Keyser is good at his job, in this instance he apparently didn't press anyone, but just repeated to me whatever he was told (and usually took most of a day each time to do that).

What has happened in the past 7 days, since I was told a 3rd card was ordered and twice that it would be sent (overnighted), I don't have a clue. It seems damn silly to tell me a card has been sent when it obviously hasn't been. But with no response today, I don't know what the latest story is going be.

They must have merged the account review and electron issuing departments.

The problem here, is that they send their cards via regular mail. Probably to not charge your account with extra mail system expenses.

I think they should add the option to receive the card via FedEx or USPS with tracking number, and charge you an extra fee of 15 to 30 bucks.

OF course there will still be some bitches complaning about it, and saying "you can't charge me for that"... There are some bitches that are never happy with whatever service you give and will complain no matter what.

Anyway, that change will definitely solve this kind of problems, or at least more of the problems when the card was not send or just lost.

With tracking number, there will be a better service.

That's not true either.. well, it's true except the 'online' thing. Regular Electrons can't be used online without a separate agreement with visa (in Finland atleast). Electron cards are just like debit cards, except you can use them abroad as well.. you just MUST have funds on your account.
