I cut it up. Guess what! They want it recut with text removed on the front end so it can be done with Hypertext instead.

Sure thats fine. I am very explicit about the nav bar area these area's are always tricky and before I cut it up I ask vehemently the Navbars are correct right? Yes they are fine! I remove text re orient the design and start cutting it up again.

But wait there is more.
The Navbar that was approved now has to be all redone, new button add's. Thats after I cut the site a 2nd time.

The Front end page is finally done after almost a week of adjustments. I get to work on the flash. I make a minor flash presentation that fits the design, its functional and I was explicit about the information that was to go in that part of the order.

So I am pretty much done right? Nope they redefine what the completion is. So they tell me hey you goto take the curtrent information from our website and integrate the text content to!

Huh? Orly? Awright...
Now mind you folks I did not charge extra for it. To keep things amicable I went and did it at no cost.

At any rate the site is completed, the guy wants to point out tables that I was told to copy from his site and put it in the new one.

I do not know if he does not have the money to pay me, won't pay me, thinks he can kick a designer around or what not. I put alot of time into this guy and his project. Yes the project was late largely due to requested fixes and changes that were incredibly minor to extensively major.

I was enormously respectful during the whole process and patient till today. Where I called em a fucken crook.

Now even on this I reduced the price to $1600.00 total!
I recieved $800.00 and no matter how hard I tried for this project to get completed there was always a funny hang up some sort of fix, or correction. This guy took me to the full length of my patience. If you done business with me you would know I am very respectful and work to make everything come together smoothly.

At this point I do not expect this guy to come forward and do whats right and pay me the final amount due. Which is only a lousy 800 bucks.

I do not reccomend doing business with this company. If he is gonna rip a guy off like me...

For a quick summery:
1: You are late again (first time shame on you, second time shame on me, third time WTF am I doing)
2: You copied a design and tried to deliver it as your own
3: Not even all pages was finished
4: We even agreed to pay you extra for work you already accepted at one price
5: I still didn't find the icongraphics to deliver a visual presentation on the specified points

This was just a really quick summery, I don't have time to deal with someone that can't finish a simple design within 2 months.

The fact that you used an execuse that you are late because you have other clients doesn't really help me

Alien burns bridges faster than they can build them. I had replied on the original board that the thread was posted on. I will repeat it here. Due is one of the mellowest guys you would ever want to do business with !

His start has not been smooth on these shores. Right off the start , being fucked over by Banana Claire and her boss. All I can say is , I have been dealing with Due since May of this year, we had a contract for 5 figure sum. He has totally fulfilled his obligations to my complete satisfaction.

My question to who ever reads this thread is, would you still want to work with someone who has missed 3 important deadlines ?
Alien has been given chances to rectify the problems, he has not done so. What is one to do ? What would you do, if you were in Due's shoes ?

I think it's clear who we should BEWARE OF here.

Serious lack of judgement to take this into the public forum AND question the business ethics and practices of Global Acces just because there is a dispute in an unrelated matter.

Threads like this don't do the designer (or designers generally) any favors. There is risk in every business transaction. Somebody is always the wrong side of the money.

This reminds us that we should always be careful to ensure that who is the right side of the money can be trusted to deliver.

Problem is when 3 deadlines is passed already and the site is still not done we need to look at other options to get a site done, last time we extended the deadline we increased the pay for the job but that did not help.

However waiting three months and needing it completed in time for as show and then not getting it is not acceptable.
It would look to me if all the facts are correct that some financial burden should fall on the designer.
It is rare that a man of JFK's integrity starts any drama on the boards, so I think we can take his word on the integrity of Due.

guide to both designers and customers (of any kind)

When you pay someone to do a job, make sure you have a written agreement of what needs to be done.

As soon as the designer or customer step outside of that agreement, money will need to change hands.

So:
1 - designer makes first layout
2 - customer want X things fixed
3 - designer fix X things
4 - if "X things" is now fixed as planned, the design is done

5 - Customer want Y things fixed.
6 - "Y things" was never mentioned in the first places, so that is something new, and should therefore never be included in the price
7 - Customer and provider agree on a price for "Y" or the customer takes it as it is
It is after all what the customer ordered

If the deadline was pushed more then 1,5 month, the agreement should have mentioned the customer getting a full refund.

I learned it the hard way - I have probably wasted more than 2 years of time and income, on GOOD projects that was never completed, because there was never a solid agreement of what needed to be done.
