So it's gone from google index completely? Doesn't show anywhere when you do site:www.yoursite.com ?

Same thing has been happening to a few batches of people. Happened to a bunch of peeps at back end of March and back end of October last year.

The ones I saw were fairly decent sites, regular, updated blogs.

you need constant new backlinks or google sees you as someone who just racked up some backlinks and deems it junk.

updates are secondary, backlinks are primary.

in addition if its from a site that sends out more and more back links with little incoming they turn shit in turn you turn shit.

google is only hard to understand for those who dont want to do real work.

i 2nd that, but also besure to review your backlinks to make sure none of them have been banned for malicious reasons. I bad backlink can cause a pyramid effect.

Firstly if you haven't been updating that is why. Search Engines like active websites with updated content. Especially on blogs.

However sometimes sites go off the scale for a phrase when they are about to move position for example I had a site rank #14 drop out to around #200 and then come back a few days later at #6 I don't know why it does it but it only seems to be google and it normally only happens with newer sites.

However by guess would be it is due to not updating your site while your competitors for the same term have been doing.

Anyway hope your rankings improve again

I totally and 100% disagree with that statement. Content and Updates are primary and will do more for you then the links will. When I have clients ask me what is the best way to get good ranking on a budget I always say to update their site on a regular basis. I can also prove this theory with examples if people need me to do so, just hit me up

Also bear in mind good content will get you backlinks without the effort of asking for them.

a site that links to you CANNOT hurt you in any way.

but,

If you link to a malicious site... well, that could hurt you.

If backlinks could kill, then I could easily kill my competition with my signature.

If the OP needs more backlinks, let me know.

if you don't think backlinks are primary you have zero knowledge about google.

It has a huge impact on an affiliate's livelihood, why shouldn't they bitch here? Go to a sports forum and people will be bitching about refereeing mistakes though they know they are inevitable ... I'd much rather see countless threads bitching about google than another "pics of my dog" thread

They aren't primary. They help and are good to get. But they are not primary.

And I know enough about Google and other Search Engines to be getting paid for my knowledge with good results.

It should also be mentioned that just backlinks on any site in any part of the page are not really worth the effort with google either.

Links from relevant websites in the content or an article will do a hell of alot more for your promotion.

Referee "decisions" then

I don't disagree with you but think you are a little harsh on the guy, people need to vent, it isn't like an affiliate can go downstairs and have a cigarette with a colleague.

I?ve been taking the Google seminars and you are correct. Content and relevance is the key to better rankings with Google. As ?location, location, location? is to real estate, ?relevance, relevance, relevance? is the key to Google. Google has a mission when it comes to serving its customers. If your site aids Google?s mission, it will rank high. Fuck with Google and Google will fuck you.

why don't you explain this for further comedic affect. you think that "updates" are "primary" - don't make the open declaration that its fact.. explain it in clear detail as to why.

you're the expert. you've said that already. this should be an easy thing for you.

i'm sure you have some good explanations as to why when you search for css tutorials or adsense information or even information about Google/SEO, the top results are often several years old, on sites that haven't been updated in years.

also, you might think about explaining how pushing a "submit" button on a blog makes it a better result for a phrase. and you might go further to explain why everyone isn't just publishing content to be successful.

upates are what matters... so waking up every day and writing about "lesbian porn" should be all it takes to be in the top 10 for "lesbian porn"

show us all what you get paid for.

its your time to shine!

One simple word to describe that post - clueless. I could show both mainstream and porn sites with SE traffic that'd make you weep with envy and that haven't been updated for years.

Fresh content 'can' help but to say it's primary shows you as the clueless idiot you are.

You just based your whole post on suggesting I said that just updating was enough. I put content before updates as content is primary and I figured the people reading the post would be intelligent enough to presume that I was talking about content relevant to what the site is about and intends to rank for.

Read the above you made the same mistake as Pleasurepays.

Also I followed up with a post that mentions the importance of relevance. Which both of you seemed to overlook. Anyway we could argue about this all day but I know my methods work and I invited anyone to contact me to see the results.

Still it's not like I didn't expect them type of replies. Some people just like to be different.

Oddly enough I can read and comprehend both simple statements in posts and basic SEO. Sadly you fail at both it seems, not even being able to understand your own posts or if you do, then you certainly failed completely to get the point you actually meant across. Oh well - pointless argument to start with as being that clueless views were never going to change.
