Generally the most accurate are bolt actions. But to really answer your question I need to know what you want to use it for. Hunting,(what) target , etc etc

mostly target shooting. I'm not the hunting type but in the event I need to kill something for food I'd like to be able to shoot the shizzy out of a moving target far away

For what purpose are you looking? Hunting, target shooting, instilling fear in the neighborhood?

I'd say for a good all around rifle, grab a 270 caliber. Tika makes an affordable .270 that is a good all around rifle for target shooting, varmint hunting, or big game. If you're not looking for a big game rifle a 22-250 makes a nice rifle for casual shooting and varmint hunts.

If you're looking for a big game rifle with some serious killing power, get a rifle that shoots a 7mm STW. It's a necked down 8mm cartridge, and will pretty much drop whatever you put it on dead in it's tracks.

Or you could just get an Ak-47 if you're looking to mow down streets fulla nigras like it's GTA4...

If all you want to do is have some fun shooting targets, and you're not looking to spend a whole fuckload of cash. Skip right passed the rifles and get yourself a good shotgun. A model 870 Remington Wingmaster makes a great shottie for under $1k. Get yourself a couple boxes of clays, your shotgun, and a couple buddies, and you'll have a blast.

Wingshooting is way more fun than target shooting with a rifle or big game. Any day, hands down.

hmm, well if you're mostly interested in target and small game the 17HMR is a fast hot accurate (and cheap)

it won't break the bank for ammo either 10 bucks for 50 rounds

not for deer though

270 is a good round like jewcat said but a bit expensive for shooting target

for target and occasional hunting i would look at ruger or remington, they both make a nice bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39 (ak47)

so you have a nice bolt action accurate scope rifle thats cheap to shoot and plenty of knockdown power for up to deer size animals

here is what you want http://ruger.com/products/m77Hawkeye...ets/17125.html

Yes it is.. But once I had it dialed in You could not get away... A few times we had to make a run for it and it does get very heavy with all the ammo...But I would not trade it for anything for making a shot over 800 meters... most of my shots were around 800 and a few out to almost 1600 meters..in the right conditions..wind, temp, etc...

Depends on how you build it.

I'm currently building one chambered in .204 Ruger. I plan on dialing it in at 600 meters. Most people that shoot long range with AR's will never shoot that far with them. If you want to be accurate beyond 600 then I would consider building a .308 AR-10.

Ruger mini14. Cheaper, and it looks like a varmiter, less conspicuous.

Exactly. Loads of options to make it exactly what YOU want.

If you decide to go this route, hit me up and I will show you how to do it right. Yeah, you could buy a ready made rifle from DPMS, JP, or a number of others but to me it's kinda like a computer. IMHO, always better to select the parts you want and put it together yourself. If anything ever goes wrong, you also know how to fix it.

You will never shoot tight groups that far with an auto feeder though.

But in the end it all depends what purpose you want the gun to do.

This is why we (hunter/firearm enthusiasts) have so many.

One for every occasion because you'll never find one that does it all.

(but if he wants to shoot allot of targets and have fun .308 and .223 will get expensive)

If I got the AR to mainly target shoot I would get it chambered in 7.62 x 39 (because its 3 x cheaper to shoot)

If I got an AR to kill or hunt out to 250 yards I would get it in .308.

If I wanted to shoot shit out at 600 yards i wouldn't get an AR (i'd get a nice bolt action magnum)

I most likely will end up getting more than one rifle. One for short/medium range and another for long range stuff. Right now I'm thinking the AR is the best route for the short/medium and a bolt action for the longer stuff.

I'll be sure and post the targets for you.

When you're spending 2.5k+ on a custom build, you tend to get above average results.

MOST people will never shoot this distance but most people don't compete either.

Until a buck jumps 20 yards in front of you in the bush, and buddy next to you with an open sighted 30-30 has got the fucker flattened before you even find it in the site

Looks like a great Christmas for you!
I've got a .22LR that my grandfather left me when he died. It's a Marlin Arms Model 60. Shit's not been fired in 20-30 years though lol

Damn I remember when you could get one for way less than that.

AN AR-15 is very accurate, fast bullet, lots of different kinds of ammo. Loads of mods you can do to it. Get one with a heavy barrel. I have a scope for mine, but don't really need it, takes the fun out of it, but I can put in on the gun in a minute

Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about that
