its utterly embarassing to see how the right wing is handling health care reform. They have overy demonized the bill, calling it a government takeover when there isn't even a public option. They seem concerned only with the welfare of the healthy & the wealthy, they have no ideas on how to turn around a system that is driving millions out of the insurance markets at the same time much of the industry is awash in wall street like profiteering. I'm not too excited about the reform bill, but the right wing has absolutely nothing to offer america but fear & class warfare. Worst, they run on small government but explode the deficit & oppose medicare cuts...hypocrites. They make me sick & embarassed i was ever right wing myself.

I would argue health care falls under the right of equal protection from illness and disability. Property is a "good" which is protected would you not agree. At worst, health care is a service, not a good.

im not too clear how more regulations + insurance exhanges + individual mandate is a government takeover. by that logic, i guess the government controls the entire economy, since they regulate everything that moves nowadays. your right...i havent read the bill, i get my info from a combo of rachel maddow & matt drudge. i think the bill was only released last night anyhow. & none of my comments came to the defense of the left wing, or of the reform bill. I'm just really unhappy the right wing is offering a huge helping of fear, instead of giving the public a positive alternative to more government. In my opinion the repubs are fucking up so bad, they are giving the public no alternative to dems. Oh, I didn't know you were a fan of drudgereport, awesome. And the government does control many of the economic aspects right now, more than ever I believe. Why else is the stock market at 10,700+ when the economy is in shit?

Honestly, I don't think there is any real alternative at this point, because we need to reduce our debts and deficits before we can have any real health care reform, and I think that's what the right wing has been trying to state.

Also, I don't understand where you see the REpublicans fucking up bad. If anyone is fucking up bad, it's the Dems. They're on pace to lose their majorities in November due to their fuckups, and THEIR leadership is a disaster. The Republicans are surging right now and while they're not doing everything right, I think they're doing just enough to make people grow weary of the Democratic leadership after only 1 year.
