Just curious because I'm wondering how much of a problem international white slavery is? Is this a real problem and wouldn't someone as lethal and connected as the protagonist in this story get his daughter back pretty easily with one phone call?

I was a fan of hardcore (oops HARDCORE the film) from the seventies and still sort of am even though I found out Hollywood has no zoning laws LOL but still curious on this movie.

Also SNUFF FILMS. Supposedly they are urban legends and there is no record with FBI of one ever being legit (I know probably the FBI is involved, but just in case they aren't...)...

I actually don't believe snuff films exist. They don't make sense to me. But I don't believe in Big Foot or the JFK Conspiracy either, although I know there was a legit Lincoln Conspiracy.

Actually I'm writing a fucked up story, almost as useless and fucked up as the ones I always bag on LOL. I have some direct to video credits and something in porn inspired something else that I probably should have done a long time ago.

There have been several news stories by US TV networks about women from eastern Europe being brought over and forced to work off their debt as hookers.

Saw one not long ago on NBC or one of their cable networks I think.

Hrm. I don't follow how you don't believe that they exist (as a generalization). But I can see how the fabled story of someone being paid $25k ahead of time, going out and having a wild party with the last days of their life and then showing up to be killed on film sounds far fetched.

People have had 8mm film and various other sorts of home video equipment for a very long time. Add that to people's deviant behavior, and you're bound to come up with some snuff. IMHO the odds of it not existing are far slimmer than the odds that it does.

Human trafficking has been around since the dawn of 'civilized' man. While modern day international news seems to be limited to sex crimes some wacko who is way over the top committed, or about how a bunch of priests took a trip to Thailand for some boy lovin', the reality is a lot of eastern euro and Russian girls have been forced in to the sex trade. There are some documentaries about it, but I can't seem to recall a name.

People bring in Mexicans and Asians to work in sweatshops to pay off their debts. I don't see why bringing in an Eastern European, or any nationality, for slave prostitution is hard to believe.

I watched taken a few weeks ago when I got some spare time, of course taken into account it still is a movie so most of the stuff is made up or exaggerated it is a common fact that since the EU opened it's borders a lot of criminals from east europe moved to big cities like paris, amsterdam etc where the most income is derived from drugs and prostitutes. My whole thing with this movie is the whole auction thing, the prices, and the people involved and who would have to be silenced with all these people involved to pull of a conspiracy of this size. You can't keep secrets with just two unknown nobodies involved who can't afraid to purchase people for several hundred thousand dollars a pop, let alone all these big wigs that would have to be involved for something like this. The pope can't keep his little boy racket going without people finding out. The JFK thing is cause people got shot, which would be the only way to really do it if it was for that reason and then the final guy would have to shoot himself, just to make sure.

If the people who made movies got rid of that attitude we would probably be seeing better movies being made. Some movies you can tell were worked on by people who cared what they were associated with in the long term. Other's I think are made by people who products of inbreding and nepotism. This would be one of those.

That is why i mentioned it as a generalization. The fairy tale of snuff.

The 'Taken' storyline is definitely not a likely one either. There are just way too many bit players in any organized crime syndicate to be able to track down one specific guy in such a short period of time. I don't care how connected you are, that is like looking for a needle in a haystack. even if you know which city the girl was taken from and then taken to, we're talking about a city. Most people can't find their car in a mall parking lot, or their friends in a concert lineup.

I do actually like the snuff fairy tale as a story line though. I have a partially written story outline involving something along those lines, but I think it would be a very tough mainstream sell. I'm not sure how they managed to get 8mm on the big screens. heh

I disagree. I think it's very easy to find people especially people who matter like this family did. Now depending on who took them, you may have to cover things up, but these losers didn't look like anyone you'd cover up or could do it themselves by any stretch of the imagination. They looked more like the type of losers you'd set up for something like this even at the point of creating the crime.
