3.5 Weeks Fasting... I'm about to crack

Don't think I can take much more.... everything looks good to me right now.
I'm ready to eat the fucking sofa cushions.
Downing coffee to see if I can make it through the night.

mmmm..... flapjacks....

(watching Hell's Kitchen isn't helping either)

Wow awesome man. Congrats... coffee bad when fasting though! It makes you more hungry in the long run.

Mostly just an informal personal experiment conceived out of boredom. I lost my appetite one day (for everything) and decided to see how long I could go. Plus I thought it might help clean out some of the garbage I've eaten for the last 43 years. (not sure it works that way though). So, nothing but liquids....

but now I'm starving.

I did shed about 25 lbs. though in the process.

My question is...did you need to shed 25 lbs?

I salute you for your discipline, man. I've been off coffee, nicotine, alcohol, and meat for some time now. Working on low salt, low sugar. I'm doing it less for weight loss/health but more for personal discipline and personal focus. The latter is its own reward.

Yeah, it didn't hurt. I was around 220 and on the verge of yet another pants size, now I'm back to 195-ish and comfortably back in a 34 waist.

5'11" so 195 is about right for me. Better than 220.

Congrats dude, keep at it!

Nicotine & coffee are the last two on my list. Used those as my crutch while I kicked everything else. Nicotine goes next, then coffee.

No soda
No salt
No candy or sweets of any kind
Virtually no meat (is fish meat?)
No drugs
No alcohol

The goal is clean livin'.

lolz, that's my lifestyle goal as well, i started similar to you in nov, went on a 1000-1200 cal meal plan, lost a ton of flab, well for me. then segued into a healthy eating plan and daily exercise. am feeling and looking a lot better but messed up recently- i've up'ed my carbs significantly to get energy for the exercise but i am diabetic and have been struggling to get my insulin injections properly dialed in to the increased carbs.

consequently, i've lost some of the muscle gained and am feeling bad as well, and have been too exhausted to exercise. i'll get it sorted out.

I got of tobacco / cigarettes a little over 3 years ago. Dropped all meat except for seafood approx 6, maybe 7 years ago. I need to work on the rest though, big time. Congrats on your willpower.

I did a fast for a month once to win a bet. I won but it was so stupid and so unhealthy. You get to this point where you just get into the zone and you kinda dig on the lighter feeling of not having food in your body, but the last 3 days killed. I was super dizzy.

That's a tough road with the diabetes.
I'm not diabetic yet, but I'm expecting it. Nearly my whole family has been afflicted with late onset diabetes and eye problems. Never give up though right.

My main struggle has been overcoming the hell I've put my body through and the chronic bad habits I created. After soldiering and long haul driving in my 20s & 30s, my daughter died and I began the slow agonizing process of killing myself for nearly a decade with enough booze and pills to last me 4 lifetimes.

It's always the good stuff that's hardest to kick. No one ever has trouble weaning off brussel sprouts.

Have you tried tea? They came out with some bad ass iced tea that steeps in cold water. Made by Twinnings. Very good stuff. Might help you break the soda habbit.

I would have said seventeen too but didn't wanna start another miley cyrus thread.

I quit smoking for over a year, got bummed out one day and picked up a pack.
only good thing about cigs is they usually get rid of hunger, but fat is probably better than skinny with cancer.

Yeah, I'm sure it's got to be unhealthy. But you're right... that's exactly what happened. After a few days I just got in the zone and kept going.... but now I've got some coffee down and I'm remotivated. Just a few more days, then I can call it one month and be done.

I'm already beyond dizzy. Can't think straight any more. No matter what I think about, it turns into food.... lol... it's like trying to think of something neutral while having sex....

Sports... hmm, tailgating BBQs.
Dead puppies... hmmm, probably good roasted & sliced thin with a nice balsamic marinade.
Traffic.... hmm, all those roadside restaurants...
GFY... hmm, wonder what everyone else is eating... lol

I did 39 days with water (and after day 20, a carton of milk per day to help with basic nutrients so I wouldn't pass out) and lost 80 lbs. From 260 to 180 - Back up to about 200-205 steady and almost a year later, which I am happy with.

That I think is the most extreme I've ever heard of, holy shit. Was your body kind of squishy dropping that much that fast? Did your skin snap back / firm up?

Not really too squishy, but my gut has a bit of "excess" skin and fat that I'll probably get taken care of with surgery.

I had never heard of anyone going on such a long fast. One week max maybe, but 3+ weeks? Damn.

I have never even done a 1 day fast.. I keep meaning to do it, but I never get around to it.

After soldiering and long haul driving in my 20s & 30s, my daughter died and I began the slow agonizing process of killing myself for nearly a decade with enough booze and pills to last me 4 lifetimes.
Amp few years ago they "diagnosed" with with type 2 Diabetes...cause of the late nights shit diet and soda.. So basically it was about 2 years or so ago there the A1C came way below diabetic ranges... i lost a good amount of body fat and cut out soda and techinically aint even diabetic anymore..

That's fantastic dude! It's amazing how cutting out the junk can make such a significant change.

Liquids. So, water, juice, milk, coffee, more water.... and probably around 3 sodas total (because I was at a function and there were no other options except beer, and I ain't drinking any beer).

yea but there is entirely no need to shock your body from eating all that bad stuff to practically nothing. You could have just eaten a high protein diet and spared probably 7 lbs of muscle loss

5'11" so 195 is about right for me. Better than 220.
I am right there where you were. I'm 225 and 6ft 1 and a 38 pant size. Really need to get back to 34 soon. I'm not going to do it by fasting though, because the weight will jump back on the moment you start eating again. Instead I've started a gradual workout program, and some good old fashioned running.

Well, like I was saying yesterday, it wasn't really a thought out plan. Just something I sort of fell backwards into. Lost my appetite one day and decided, "let's see where this goes".

I don't understand people with their crazy dieting habits, dropping out all kinds of foods from their diets... all things in moderation people... good exercise and you're good to go!

Unless you have some medical allergy to a particular food I don't see any reason to cut it out of your diet...
