Conservative vs Liberal

I found this list and yes, it's a joke, but as I read into it, do you agree with some of it?

Conservative vs Liberal

* If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
* If a liberal doesn't like guns, he feels that no one should have one.

I agree with this, if you don't like guns, don't try to take mine away

* If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
* If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants to ban all meat products for everyone.

Daughter is a veggie head, but that's not what this is really about, liberal thinking usually means more laws and regulation

* If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
* A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

I think this is pretty accurate, I hate going to war, but if we have to do it, level the country

* If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
* If a liberal is homosexual, he loudly demands legislated respect.

Sounds like prop 8 to me, I was taught respect is earned, not given

* If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
* Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

I do see a lot of this, but no going to say anything

* If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
* A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

how many times has the unemployment been extended?, But I do agree that given the situation, it's needed

* If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
* Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

Yep, totally agree, "fox news"

now lets see if people can debate this without name calling, LMAO

If a conservative is a narrow-minded douche bag, he gets upset when someone with half a brain challenges his ignorance.

When a liberal watches fox noise, he immediately identifies it as the brainwashing propaganda it is.

So it's the liberals who tried to get Howard Stern off the air? And it's the conservatives who are constantly protecting our free speech rights? And the PTC is really a liberal organization, who was acting on behalf of all liberals when encouraging their liberal followers to write the FCC about Janet Jackson nipple?

Ok, thanks for clearing that up.

So my eyes must be playing tricks on me with this info right?

The Parents Television Council (PTC) is an American advocacy group founded by conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III in 1995

And from the PTC website:

Don't like what you see on TV? Do something about it. -- And they don't mean change the channel.

Fox's Family Guy Spreads Filth on YOUR Airwaves!

Sunday night's episode of the cartoon show, Family Guy aired explicit sexual content and was rated TV-14 DLSV by Fox, meaning that in the network's opinion, this content was appropriate for 14-year olds.

► TAKE ACTION NOW! File a complaint with the FCC about this episode.

Goddamn liberals.

That's funny you of all people say that. You never have a valid educated opinion; all you do in political threads is generalize about anyone who has a negative opinion about the current administration.

All your posts involve, "Oh yeah, look at Bush", "Fear mongering Republican", "Conservative Jesus Freak", "Tea bagger", etc, etc.

It's never anything logical like; hey, I think you're wrong, look at these statistics or look where these policies have worked in the past. It's all childish nonsense because you support Obama but you don't know exactly why.

I'm not going to name you a liberal or a conservative, just an uneducated idiot with nothing insightful to say.

I try to stay out of political threads on this forum now, there are only a couple people who have the slightest clue around here, (and no, not just people I agree with, for example I disagree with a lot of what the 'thedoc' has to say, but at least he he can back-up his political opinions).

Conservative vs Liberal

* If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
* A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
Not always the truth. I read recently that Bill Clinton carried out more military actions during his 8 years than any president since the Vietnam war.

Quote:

Well, not exactly accurate. A liberal only wants legislated respect when equal rights are being take away from them. Gay people want the right to be married, but conservatives want to deny them that right. There is no way to "earn" the respect of the conservatives without taking them to court and demanding equal rights under the law.

Quote:
* If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
* A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
I grew up in a small redneck town that was a lumber mill town. there were some good times and bad times. When the mills shut down and there was a lot of unemployment there were letter drives and trips to the state capital demanding that the government do something to help the families of this town. These were almost all gun carrying redneck conservatives who were pissed as they saw their way of life coming to an end and they wanted the government to help them.

Unless that talk show host is Howard Stern then the conservatives to everything they can to get him thrown off the air.

If a conservative sees a pregnant woman in direction of an abortion clinic, he stops her .
If a liberal sees some trailer park hoe getting knocked up , he sends food stamps.

Let's just take the 1st one and highlight the hypocrisy:

Guns
* If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
* If a liberal doesn't like guns, he feels that no one should have one

Marijuana
* If a conservative doesn't like marijuana, he feels that no one should, and sends you to jail at enormous taxpayer expense.
* If a liberal doesn't like marijuana, he doesn't smoke it.

Now for some Vendzilla comments that apply to this:

"I agree with this, if you don't like guns, don't try to take mine away"

"Daughter is a veggie head, but that's not what this is really about, liberal thinking usually means more laws and regulation"

Therefore, we can draw this conclusion:
Conservatives and Liberals are two sides of the same coin.

It does say, "Then, Reid did a rather unusual thing. He wrote a letter of complaint on Senate stationery, signed by 40 other Democratic senators including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, to Mark Mays, the chairman of Clear Channel, one of Limbaugh's syndication partners, urging him to talk with Limbaugh about the remark and condemn it."

There is a big difference between asking someone to condemn a remark someone else has made and asking someone to take them off the air.

That's a little different, when liberals used the spotted owl to close down forests.
Or when a paper company plants a forest of hardwood trees and liberals keep them from harvesting them because squirrels live there now

"FCC thru him off the air, FCC was started by FDR, a democrat"

haha, what the hell does that have to do with anything? Even you have to see what kind of stretch that is.

Let's get rid of anything "a democrat" has ever done. Want to explore what that would mean?

It does say, "Then, Reid did a rather unusual thing. He wrote a letter of complaint on Senate stationery, signed by 40 other Democratic senators including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, to Mark Mays, the chairman of Clear Channel, one of Limbaugh's syndication partners, urging him to talk with Limbaugh about the remark and condemn it."

There is a big difference between asking someone to condemn a remark someone else has made and asking someone to take them off the air.

whether conservative or liberal, an intelligent person listens to the others persons point of view and then offers his/her points of view and an intelligent conversation takes place..

both sides usually end up leaving the debate with a better understanding of the others points of views..

ignorant people, whether liberal or conservative, formulate their opinions of the other persons views before the conversation ever begins..

both sides leave the debate as ignorant as they were before the conversation ever took place...

stop letting the media brainwash you into believing that there is only room for one point of view...

That is not what the letter said or implied. They wanted him to be rebuked for making a stupid remark...which he frequently does...but I do not have any doubt that they would have been pleased to see him fired...for his remark.

I have liberal views on some things, but wait I forgot, you think everyone that doesn't like Obama is a racist

It's exactly what the letter implied, that's why is sold for so much and Rush matched it and donated the whole lot to a good cause.

He didn't leave that open for any interpretation, he would show a stranger courtesy, not respect

Desperate about what?

This sentence was inconsequential...

"Why people would be so gullible to accept half the truth is beyond me."

It was not something coined by Sarah Palin.

My point is that there are often situations where there is no way to earn respect. There is no possible way that gay people who want to get married are going to "earn" the respect of the conservatives who don't want them to get married. There is nothing they can do to change the conservatives mind. Sometimes you have to scream and yell to get what you want.

Quote:
That's a little different, when liberals used the spotted owl to close down forests.
Or when a paper company plants a forest of hardwood trees and liberals keep them from harvesting them because squirrels live there now
The spotted owl was just part of it. There were also a lot of times when there was just a downturn in the economy and less lumber was being ordered and shipped so there were large layoffs.

But even if you want to use the spotted owl as an example, isn't that the same as the gay marriage and the gaining respect thing from above? The conservatives have passed laws stating that gays cannot get married. The gays are fighting back legally and you call that whining to get their way. But if the liberals pass a law that causes a conservative to lose his job or change the way he does his job, when they fight back they are doing the right thing. Suddenly whining to the government that things aren't fair is okay. Shouldn't these down and out conservatives just accept that their way of life has changed and quietly go about picking themselves up and dusting themselves off? As GFY says, shouldn't they just adapt or die?

I'm not blaming them for being upset. I grew up in the middle of this fight. I'm just playing devil's advocate and like Glenn Beck. . . I'm just asking questions.

Quote:
FCC thru him off the air, FCC was started by FDR, a democrat
Actually the FCC never took him off the air. They fined him heavily and he couldn't convince Clear Channel or anyone else to fight the FCC and force a court case over the fines. After the big fines came down Clear Channel took him off the air and never paid him. He sued them, but from what I understand it was settled out of court (or maybe it is still pending I can't remember).

the FCC doesn't just decide one morning to shut people down, they respond to complaints and it was a conservative group (I think morality in media, but I'm not sure) who were the only people to file complaints against him. So yes, the FCC did fine him, but they did so while George Bush was in office and had conservatives running the FCC and they only investigated him because of a conservative group complaining.

That a democrat created the FCC means nothing in this argument. If the conservatives really don't wanted the FCC around and really want smaller government they had 6 years under Bush where they controlled all three branches. They could have easily gotten rid of it.

While I don't disagree with you (as I am very sure they would have loved to see him thrown off the air) there is still a big difference between asking a guys boss to condemn what he has said and requesting that he be removed from his job.

Post proof. Not your twisted illusion of proof but actual proof that I believe that. I'm pretty sure most people that barely even know me, will know better. All you're doing is showing that you're willing to stretch the truth, take things out of context, or even outright lie, so no one should take your "facts" to be the way you perceive them or portray them.

I found this list and yes, it's a joke, but as I read into it, do you agree with some of it?

* If a conservative doesn't like guns, he only has two.

* If a conservative is a vegetarian, he considers chicken a vegtable.

* If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about the best way to make a total mess of the foreign country even though the vast majority of civilians there just want to live their lives.

* If a conservative is homosexual, he runs against any pro-gay legistation and does anything possible to look anti-gay in hopes he is never found out.

* If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they constantly need to look over their shoulder.

* If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about what minority to blame for it.

* If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels to fox news and gets a sore neck from agreeing so much.

now lets see if people can debate this without name calling, LMAO
