Most of these profit pirates will give up after you DMCA their links a few times. The worst infringer gave up after about 12 re-ups.

It's by far a loosing battle for content producers that truly care about their product.

I run 18 adult sites and produce content for 3 of them and sales are good, not 2007 good but in the current climate, adult still has plenty of opportunity for good earnings.

Yep some forums are picking up unfortunately, probably because of the influx of pornbb refugees. Intporn is yet another example - they're relatively new game in town, but picking up quickly. But it still looks like forum traffic is down across the board, and even those that are seeing some increase like planetsuzy are still past their prime.

Probably they weren't real reuploads but mere link replacements, that's why he could afford to be so resilient. You of course know that it's not like in the good old rapidshare days anymore, when they not only removed files for real but also blocked them by their signatures so reuploaders would have to repack their archives to add some random txt or jpg files to change hash, and then physically reupload again.

Nowadays those outright criminal hosts like oron do not even remove files but mere links, and uploaders could always generate a new set of links for replacement. Yup, if they deleted the masterfile things would be moving a lot slower for the sharers.

I'm seeing some weird things in this area too. Some posters have commented on forums that "links got deleted and I'm not re-uploading that again, sorry if you didn't get it first time"

So to me, I'm suspecting a two tier system, paid account holders and your freebie uploader....one gets deleted, one doesn't.

Yes I noticed that too, and I think your assumption about 2-tier system is about right.

It is also possible that things vary from host to host, some offer fake links and some don't. I know for certain that Oron offers that, and probably Filesonic too, about others I'm not so sure. You wouldn't know unless you signup and start uploading, which I'm sure not going to do.

Two tiers in the fight; a company or group doing what these pitbull guys do ie identify refusals forwarding that information to a group like my personal side project. We have lawyers in multiple countries setup to file. Sued users for leaking content and hosts for refusals and won everytime; never lost.

Thing is nobody ever does the research or even calls a lawyer with ip experience; it's a hands down you will win. Nobody has sued pornbb.com because it's still up.

9/10 they won't even show up ending in a default judgement you take that to icann and you have the domain name. Fake information in whois? instant win..

The real problem is there is no standard and never will be because 10% think they can be on top with the sinking model, on top at 1:300, on top at 1:3000 on top at 1:30000 and so on.

If even the 100 largest of you would allow a standard, it would be adopted. Probably half of you are on this board.

Force a real-time blind data collect algorithm as an extension.

Microsoft did a similar thing with hardware hashtable codes and their sales went up just from registrations. It is a pain, but it works in the long run.

Did you guys ever consider giving away your own older content for free on your own website, in nice flash video windows with proper thumbnails and descriptions? Basically making your own tubes, but higher quality videos, no pop-up ads and you're the only one allowed to upload content? I'm going to do that, to generate more traffic and sales. All my old content can be downloaded from hundreds if not thousands of tubes, boards and torrent sites now anyway so I might as well give it away for free. And then hope that 1% is willing in buying a subscription to see the newest videos. Now if all producers would do that, and on each page you also show one video of another producer, we keep the traffic in our own hands again.
