i don't even understand how this site makes money, they don't store files, they distribute files to the big file hosters. so where do they make money from?

I would guess they are an affiliate of the sites you upload to. File lockers can see where their links come from. That?s how boards and sites like these make their money. File lockers pay boards and sites like these for sending them customers. It?s not just the pirates making money, the boards also make a percentage of each sale.

It's a grubby ecosystem, upload sites, debrid download sites, file lockers, forums, blogs, image hosts, video hosts, link protectors, link encryptors, the list goes on. Every one of them make money from piracy and none have the right to exist.

I don't think most of us know just how bad it is.

The pirates are now sending poorly worded cease and desist notices about StopFileLockers.com to Cloudflare.

It's hilarious when thieves try to justify their actions. It's even funnier when they try to flip it around on the people they are stealing from like if we didn't want our content stolen then we shouldn't have made it.

By the way all those indians, russians, filipino who was uploading stuff then posting and spamming it around to get commissions, not likely will give up and get an offline job. I mean they do this for money and may want to continue doing money online in some way as used to. I also got to read in black hat forums someone asking for alternatives of pic/file uploads and someone sends them even to GFY to look for this or that program, but given the background of the guys I would expect they would be carders or spammers type of affiliate.

Unsure if related, but I am lately getting a lot of new guys with vpn registering the pay per free (CPA per lead) program, and doing lots of accounts themselves; I mean daily... plus some sending real traffic but from spam bots and getting mailed by networks they spam "please terminate this affiliate id", and one said they spammed warez sites before with same bot; finally lots of carders who could have carded those file lockers as fake users of own uploaded content, previously.

Again it could be not related, just no increase of new legit affiliates so it is not a general increase of popularity of the program, but so many self-create accounts and spammy type of proxy-ish affiliates growing after summer esp in past 30 days it seems whole villages in Bangladesh signing-up from proxy, it looks like they came from somewhere else who stopped to pay them, whatever it was.

Secondly, the Stop File Lockers website is only the means by which we report some updates, there would be zero impact on our campaign if it went down. Nothing to do with us, Paypal make minor changes to policy regularly, I get change of policy emails at least a couple of times a year.

Actually, it doesn't, it just means a small legal change has been made to Paypal's terms of service.

Avangate is a rogue payment processor it should be noted.

Filestay is not accepting Paypal, we had them terminated already.

They are using Avangate (a rogue processor) and FashionPay a front for all sorts of dodgy stuff.

These will both be dealt with when Visa and Mastercard act to have the acquirers terminate merchant agreements.

I've noticed on the WJunction forum there are a number of people making astounding claims about how we operate.

The claim that we upload files ourselves to file lockers and then screenshot them is ridiculous and really shows how lacking in intelligence some of these people on WJunction are.

We don't need to upload files to file lockers, there are already plenty of examples of illegal and infringing files on them. Just a simple search of filestube.com will bring tens of thousands of examples of infringements and thousands of examples of potentially illegal content.

Then there is the campaign of emails to our web hosting providers, Paypal and others. (None of which has been effective and none of which will stop us from operating). The claim is that because we are pointing out that there is illegal content on a particular site that we ourselves are committing a crime.

It is not illegal to point the finger at a criminal and say "hey that guy is robbing a bank, do something about it" , likewise it's not illegal to point out a site hosting illegal content. Especially when the authorities have been slow to act on the site.

It seems we are really getting under the skin of the pirates, which is good, irritating them is part of the program.

A simple message to the uploaders and file locker operators.

If the Stop File Lockers site went offline tomorrow, or we were banned from GFY, or our Twitter account was shut down, then none of that would stop what we are doing. In fact all that would happen is that the pirates would lose a little window through which they can look to understand what we are doing.

We are not going away. We are going to keep putting pressure on your illegitimate business and we shall eventually shut the business model of incentivised file sharing down.

They are pissing into the wind, hoping it will turn around.

Domain names either do not resolve, or go to a parked page, or redirect to another domain.

There are lots of billers still helping such sites. Just terminating paypal is not enough.
Perhaps a better strategy add on would be to start promoting debrid type sites, ie, sites that allow end users to pay $10 to download as much as they want from several cyber locker sites that are still trying to operate. No sales for upload monkeys = more starvation

The only thing to do is remove all monetization methods from sites.
