Guide: How to cheat affiliate program's PPS offers

Really: we run a cam webmaster program which also offers PPS (i.e. $80 per pay user, even if deposited just $10) and lately we're getting lots of PPS frauds of the type described below, this is because in some blackhat and hackish forums this is explained as a method to fraud and many are applying it. So I wanted to share.

Normally you get the PPS fraudster because he starts to make a dozen signups quickly which is noticed quickly as suspicious.

The evil part of the method it is to make many different affiliate accounts, one every 2-3 days, with different emails and IP addresses, let these run 3-15 days sending some cheap trafficholder / trafficshop etc. hits before to make themselves a PPS signup (total cost: $10, with stolen card or friend's card is worth anyway). They also require different payment methods (or we could detect it is the same guy), usually they ask anonymous ones like webmoney, egopay, perfectmoney etc. (which we do support for payouts), since that's easier than to make many payoneer's, paxum's etc., but they also can offer a % to friends who use own paxum's or else address as payout options.

Rest of the fraud is as usual: they send cheap blind redirect hits from sitex.com , so to have ratio 1:something believable, then create an account with same http referrer sitex.com so it looks like comes from within such traffic, make a $10 or cheapest sale, get $80 pps, switch to next account the day after do $80 pps and so on, if the guy got 5-10 accounts he can do nice $$ per period, but each account does like 1 sale only per period which goes stealth under the radar's.

Since the above method is in blackhat/hack forums anyway I believe I didn't teached anything really new, but I wanted to share with fellow PPS program managers as you may have some of those guys infiltrated.

Well thats strange from a PPS program owner to teach people how to cheat PPS's offers ! I know that it takes a lot's of time to check every affiliate and every sale, but scammers will always find a new method to cheat and I don't think you can filter 100% all fake sales ! That's the reason I always go with revshare because it's more honest for me and for the program owner !

if you are offering pps for 80 then allow first payout if more than 3 sales.

make sure payment methods are not same for 2 affiliate accounts. like same payoneer or paxum emails .

smaller affiliates don't like it, but if they are HONEST, they should understand.....

Make the first payout on all new accounts a minimum of 5 sales or something, with an option to make it 10 if the sales fit a fraud profile.

If you see 5 sales all with the same profile ($10 deposit etc) that doesn't fit you global averages, you can address it. Hit them up, say you want to see 5 more before the payout is made. If all 10 look suspicious, you've got m'

To raise minimum payout at 3-5 signups that's not popular these days, most affiliates are too "small" for this, it is the era of the micro-affiliates. Asking ID's that's even less popular, there was threads complaining about this recently.

It's not a big deal to pay a few PPS to cheaters, at least they give good reviews in forums. If you do not pay a cheater, in several cases they start to write in all the forums that our program does not pay, just as a revenge. It is like in supermarkets, they calculate a 3% of merchandise being stolen, we calculate paying a few cheaters, is ok - even just to reduce them writing revenge posts around.

By the way something to add: the replies of the cheaters are also something. The most common reply it is: "Sorry I asked friends to help making signups" or "I hired a freelance in Pakistan to bring traffic". Some deny or question the signups being fake, but those who admit being fake... it is never them, but someone else, who for some reason, rather than doing an own account, will work in this account of the guy who ignores all and is so innocent. This tactic is to asks if can continue to send signups without the "bad guy" they fire or kick out.

Following is a today's chat, is for CPA not PPS, but so typical "it was not me, I kick the bad guy, can we continue anyway":

Why not offer your 80$ pps to people who are etablish and keep revs to new comers and see how it goes. Sound like your just in a hurry to make bucks and not taking time to just work with people who worth time and effort and let the new comer to mature with your program and proove that they are legit. you can offer rev-share to new affiliates and after few signups they can join pps club, or even better once they joins pps club pay them by pps rates for previous sales too.

i dont understand your logic by paying scammers to get the good reviews.

you pay one scammer and he goes and posts good review on board and even he posts the tactits to cheat in your affiliate program .
then it attract more scammers , then you gotta make choice ...

simple answer, they cant, scammers dont have any legit traffic /site they are mostly in this for quick money./ they signup and hope for it to get unnoticed ,

for 2 legit sales ,it will take them months and they dont have that much traffic ., imho.

Actually this happens too (on cpa/ppl free signup method), and it is hard to find, because after the first payouts given to new affiliate which is checked for valid signups, I tend to flag the affiliate as "good" and focus on checking new affiliates signups. Then the guy after weeks starts to mix proxy/vpn fake signups with the real signups, I don't figure because is a validated affiliate and if I ckeck a few signups the chance is these are real.. then after more weeks the guy switches to full proxy/vpn scam - it happend I paid a few $100's more to these before I figured out.

About paying the scammers the first time if amount is small for good reviews in forums: that's why you don't see that many bad reviews about our program in forums. Most bad reviews drama threads are opened by scammers, but readers don't know this, and think it was a program's fault, people like to believe programs are all shaving and evil and part of a conspiracy.

I also noted that if you tell to a scammer that he is caught scamming, some get so upset, so I tend to write different working to reduce their stress, for example: "sorry but we don't need more traffic of your type, please don't send more" and so on.
