If you're doing it right, you can get away with 2 or 3 days a week. Just focus on getting stronger in the big lifts (Squat, Deadlift, Bench Press). As you get stronger, you will look better. Don't over complicate it.

Throw in some 15 minute high intensity cardio sessions (Jump rope, burpees, sprinting etc).

It's really as simple as that.

Of course, you can't out-train a bad diet -- so your eating has to be on point.

That is all I really need.
Going to the pull up bar daily at least once a day, once in a while take day or two off.
Also practising balance on some pipes that aren't in the picture.
In addition, doing stretching and other exercises either at home or on the beach.

2 summer seasons in a row, achieved some great results and continue to improve.
And yeah, working out on the beach is fun =)
Once it becomes daily routine, it's pretty easy, your body craves to go out there on its own.

Somewhat, depends if I get lazy or not. I don't work out with a schedule or with a set programs like one day one part of body and other days other parts. my work out is my own "lazy yoga routine/method". I do stretching, relaxing and some strength exercises regularly but make it like a play, doing it for fun so to say, whenever I take breaks or feel like it.

Pull ups replaced with push ups, and push ups actually are great starting point before hopping on a bar for beginners. You can do variety of push ups with different hand distances and body angles to focus on different areas of shoulders, chest, upper back and hands; sit ups, crunches, duck walking. I try many different exercises from pilates and yoga asanas to find most effective ones for body areas that I want to improve and then spend good amount of time practicing them but I'm no expert, more like beginner-intermediate level.

2 years ago I was in pretty bad shape, feeling bad, soar and cranky, and all my life I've been very skinny, no meat. I'm in my early 40s now. Today, although far from great shape, I'm much better toned and stronger than I've ever been and it's just the beginning for me.

Getting back to your question, here's an example of pull ups results for the past two years:
- May 2015, started going to a pull up bar, could do barely 5 pull ups hanging like a soft dildo, lol. After about two weeks I was doing 10-12 on a first set.
- End of September 2015 my record was 24 pull ups. I was doing comfortably 20-25 on a first set in October.
- Skipped 5 months or so, doing push ups here and there, 50-70 each time few times a day. By the end of winter got lazy.
- April 2016, first time on a pull up bar did 12 or 15, after a week was doing 20, after another week or so got my record up to 28 pull ups.
- This summer got my abs to show up modest 6 pack with flat, lean stomach been doing pull ups with straight legs in front holding horizontally in 90 degree angle of upper body, I call them "pull ups with angle" and also doing some other things on a bar.


Now my goal for this winter is to learn and get comfy doing hand-stands without wall support. It's tough to get it into daily routine, but I know if I hit the wall several times a day, it's doable.

Going to the pull up bar daily at least once a day, once in a while take day or two off.
Also practising balance on some pipes that aren't in the picture.
In addition, doing stretching and other exercises either at home or on the beach.

Once it becomes daily routine, it's pretty easy, your body craves to go out there on its own.
I added pull ups to my workout in March. I could only do 3-4 with strict form but last month I got them up to 15. I started adding weight a few weeks ago and last week I fucked up my inner elbow on my left arm. I feel like I hyper extended it or torn a tendon. Have you ever had any elbow pain from pull ups?

hoping your ritual does good for you, sounds like it's going well!

Can I recommend beginning with head stands, once, sorted, pull full hand stands & then go for flips once confident

My partner has done serious training in the past & recommends you push up, this will increase your pecs, not your bi ceps, but once your arms are back in action, then you can continue your pull ups.
A man with nice pecs is great... you look good and don't need to fight in our adult life, so bi ceps can come in a few months

similar to this, but even less strain on the joints is swimming with many lengths, swimming as the length as fast as you can...

in "doggy paddle" Straight up

The breast stroke is great for pecs & over arm forward stroke for speed, but doggy paddle is the similar movement to cross training on the elliptical, using more of your body & much more effort. Try it next time you're swimming
