If they had more than a few dollars wouldn't they be doing bigger and better things than scamming $50 to a couple hundred dollars here and there?

The reality is that nobody would get sued. If there were more lawsuits, there would be less scammers. Everyone says they are going to file suit but most never do. Few even seem interested in protecting their copyrights.

That said, without iron clad proof, and in this sue happy online/real world. I would make sure I had my ducks in a row before naming companies and branding them one thing or another. I have done it before. Past three years went to court 9 times, came out on top all but one, cost me 500, but if you dont have a brother who is a lawyer will cost you a lot to defend your self.
It can be done, but has to be real proof and right wording

It was until a few days ago that I really understood the true effect of libel. It's a word often tossed around here. I was reading some thread about some supposed scammer, and thought to myself "this thread will probably make me automatically not trust this person if they hit me up to do business" despite that there is obviously two sides to the story. I didn't know either party in this case, thus had no bias but based on even a random unknown persons statements, it can effect my decision to do business with someone just because its at the back of my head. So that being said, talking smack about someone IS libel if you don't have any proof.

I'd publish that list BUT do it with proof. If you back it up and can slam dunk them, there is not much someone can do about it. Otherwise, every pill pushing company or corporation that has a product that doesn't work, and word leaks that it doesn't work, those companies would be suing everyone. Why don't they? Because they know it's true and someone usually comes to bat with proof of this.

Ok lets say I start a website and state "These are companies and/or persons we would not personally do business with or associate ourselves with. The decision to do business or associate yourself with the companies and/or persons listed is completely up to you. We are only providing our personal opinion and the information on to why we will not do business with said companies and/or persons." Then we list the companies and/or persons with information on why we would not do business with said companies and/or persons. This would be considered libel?
