We're so screwed. :(

I know that pretty much all of you folks here don't really know me, so I will completely understand if no one can help but it's worth a try. My wife and I have been struggling for the past few months to keep our house. We used to have a decent job that paid well, but it ended in March 2009 due to the company's boneheaded decisions (they lost contracts with companies down here in PR due to their refusal to adapt to the hispanic market). Since then, we have had problems finding work, but somehow always managed to pull it off. Well, we're now about 2 1/2 months behind on our rent, and the owner of our house called earlier tonight and told me that if we don't come up with the rent by tomorrow then he is going to take us to court. My wife recently found employment with the federal government, but payroll takes awhile to start for new employees so she won't see a paycheck until well into February. I'm disabled so my ability to work is limited and that's why I've been working on my new blog and planning for a video sales site. Of course, lack of money has hindered that plan as well. When I manage to get it running, it WILL be very successful, as I already have a pretty big line of people waiting for it to open. But in the meantime...if we don't come up with almost $3000 by tomorrow evening, we're gonna be homeless. So I'm wondering if there is anyone at all here that would be able to loan us some money to prevent us from losing our home. We literally have nowhere to go if we lose it, and though sure, eviction takes awhile, but once you start down the eviction path, it creates that unrecoverable rift between tenant and landlord. Can anyone help us? I really hate to beg but we're literally out of options here.

I think the only way we'd be able to get it in time is via western union or moneygram and I know that people don't tend to like that system since it's too easy for the receiver to simply run away with it and never repay. I would have only my word to go on in terms of repaying the money. There's always Paypal, but that takes time to transfer to real money and I'm not sure that that would sedate the owner. I'm looking up the nearest western union and moneygram locations right now.

Do you own any domains of value? Get them appraised and use it as collateral for a loan. You said you were working on a project, you might be able to use that as collateral.

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, I would try to explain your situation to your landlord as you have to us. The best solution is to work something out, unless you've been dishonest towards him I see no reason why he wouldn't want to work towards a solution that doesn't require a legal battle.

A few things...

One, no one really knows you - you said so yourself. No one is going to give you a dime with the history of scams in this business.

Two, adult is NOT the place to look for quick cash anymore. You're off by about 9-12 years there.

Three, asking for financial help when you 'have no place else to turn' on GFY is like asking a nun for a blowjob.

Four, the only option you have for your situation is to do what adults do - figure it out for yourself. No mommy or daddy to bail you out - and certainly no strangers on the internet care - you have problems you need to solve, solve them.

Five, in America, if you don't come from money it is literally sink or swim. Accept it, work with what you can and figure out if you can at least float for a while.

The thing is that we have explained this all to him. We've always been straight-up with everyone, including him. Deceiving people always bites you in the ass in the long run so there's no point. If we can't find any help, we are going to do whatever we can to work out a deal but of course, there's never any guarantee that it'll work out.

I don't believe I own any domains of value, really. Most of my domains I've owned for quite awhile (many years for a few), but I don't know if any of them are worth a squat since only one of them is even adult-related. I wouldn't mind putting them up as collateral if need be.

I didn't expect anyone to help out but I figured I would at least ask. I really hate to ask things like this, since we've always been able to make it on our own, but I had no other choice. And I can't sell my computer...it really isn't worth anything.

We didn't wait...we've been trying everything in our power to get the money together. I hate asking for favors and that's why I've never even said anything about it before...I would only do this when all other options are exhausted.

I completely understand though...no one knows me, and everyone's got their own things to deal with. And I understand the trust issue as well, since I myself once got screwed sending someone money via western union (it was only $180, but still). I won't hold this against anyone, and I'll still hang around here if I can.

Show your landlord the employment contract your wife got. If they have any common sense they'll either wait out of good faith or simply garnish her wages once payroll starts. Eviction has no money for the landlord, offering to wait or garnish her wages will get results.

Unfortunately, the office she works at (it's with the census) has the contract, but I'll ask her if she can get some kind of documentation from her work that will help.

I would show the contract indeed to the landlord.

As the landlord knows you are out of cash at the moment he will also understand that any legal fees will probably be for his account. That might make the difference for him to wait another month.

We've been doing that since March. We've managed to pick up some temporary work along the way which has helped keep us afloat in the meantime. My ability to work a "regular" job is very limited, so I do what I can. Work down here is extremely hard to find unless you create it yourself, which we tried from August to October...didn't work out (our business was sabotaged).

I don't want to pile on here, but just have a question. You say that you were both working for a company, but lost the job in March of 2009 and have been struggling to find work since. Ok, that happens. I'm going to assume that when you lost your job you lost your health insurance (but maybe I'm wrong about that). So you are struggling to get by and you saw how tough things were, but still at some point while you were out of work and having these hardships you decided it was a good idea for her to get pregnant? That makes no sense whats so ever to me.

I know it sucks. But sometimes letting your house go and starting over isnt a bad thing. When home ownership is more of a liabilty than investment which it seems to be for many this day in age its time to let go..

Getting or borrowing some money is only a short term fix. You need a restructure from the inside out with your finances and sometimes letting go of the home is the biggest step towards that.

There is nothing wrong with renting. Relieve some stress and financial burden and consider letting go of your home. The whole concept of people owning and the American Dream has really put families and this society into a world of hurt.

Im sorry for your struggles. But Many familes will find that if they give up their homes and move into something more realistic they can afford it helps. There is nothing worse than that fear of instability of living in a home you cant afford and fearing it can be taken from under you at literally anytime.

Try posting a list of your domains so people can actually see who you are, you might not get 3k from one person but you might get a few people willing to send a few hundred. I'm sure if you went to your landlord and said here's 1/2 I'll have the other 1/2 and current in 3 weeks he'd accept.
Not sure how your rental laws are where you live, but in most of the US and Canada it's very hard to evict someone who's making arrangements to pay.

Sorry but right now your whole story screams out scam. Even the method you've selected to receive fund. You selected two methods which are both untraceable.

Good luck in your search you actually had my sympathy until I saw money gram and western union.

She didn't get a copy of what she signed? Have her call to get a copy or fax a copy, you should retain a copy for record keeping anyways.

We did not have health insurance at all, since we were subcontracted and not employees.

She got pregnant in November after she had found work for a company that promised her "great things". It was a promotions company that dealt in water purification systems. They said to her "enjoy your time at home, enjoy your children, enjoy your husband". So she took that last part to heart perhaps a little too much. It looked like all of our problems had been solved. Unfortunately, the job tanked because the company started refusing to pay her and customers started cancelling orders due to terrible support and rude financial agents. After that, she found a job as a salesperson for another promotional company, but it was costing her more to do the travelling than she was making so she had to resign. We both applied for the Census quite awhile ago, and I've been at the top of the list for the Arecibo office, but they cannot find a position for me...they found one for her though, which is the job she has now. I am going to try to get in with the Bayamon office though. They have a policy which states that two people in the same household cannot work in the same office. If I had been able to work there, this would not even be an issue since between her income from the job and mine from the job, it would be more than enough, and I could simply convince the landlord to hang on a little longer. If I can get in at Bayamon though, that might still be an option.

dyna mo: the $3000 covers 3 months of rent, which is what we owe. And actually, it's not $3000, it's actually $2550...the extra would be like a buffer just in case things don't pan out as well as we're hoping for. Our rent is $850/month.

Isn't $1,200 a month a lot for a place in PR (based on the $3k and 2 1/2 months behind).

Also, if he's taking you to court, you have time before that court date to figure something out. If you pay between the filing and the actual court date, the judge cannot put a judgment in your name ... so there is absolutely no reason to need it by tomorrow.

Thirdly, if your wife is already working, she should get a letter from the government, her employer, stating that she is working and what her salary will be. Present that to the landlord and tell him that unemployment is why you got behind and that she is now employed and you will be able to dig yourself out of the hole. Remind your landlord that evicting someone and finding a replacement tenant takes time and money and with your wife now working it would be more beneficial for him to collect going forward and work out a payment plan for what is in arrears.

I've been responsible for many rental properties and worked with anyone that had legitimate financial problems that were no fault of their own. Most landlords will. We know that vacancies are expensive and that working out a payment plan with a tenant that isn't a deadbeat but just in an unfortunate situation is much cheaper.

Sorry for your misfortune but it looks like things are looking up for you and your wife and that is what is important. The road will be bumpy for awhile but it will get better.

On that note, I doubt anyone on this board will be sending money. You should spend your time focusing on solutions that may actually benefit you.

Good luck!

I will assume that what you say is true.

Actually as you saw, most of people will tell you the name of the forum.

But, if you really have a good idea that will be successful, build right away a prospectus then knock to doors as much as you can, sponsors for example.

If and only if you are really motivated, with a really good idea, and especially, if you are not bullshitting, maybe you can be lucky.

But if it doesn't work, I think what boneprone said is also true.

It's really sad, but you can only fight and believe.

Oops, looks like a lot of what I said was already addressed. I started writing my response, became distracted and then found it again and decided to finish.

I know that there isn't a whole lot of trust in this industry and I detest both western union and moneygram but the truth is that they're the only ways to get money transferred in a hurry. But of course, paypal is always an option, it's just not as fast...but if I were to convince the owner that I did indeed have money coming in, he would more than likely wait those few days it takes to transfer.

Yes, it is a real process to evict someone, and I've explained that to a few people in the past. But keep in mind that once the process has started or even considered, you create a rift between the two parties that is usually unrecoverable. We love this house and we don't want to lose it.

I figured someone was probably going to think this was a scam, but I was willing to take the risk anyways. We have the freedom as human beings to think whatever we want to think.

Anyways, my domains are numerous but not worth dick. I'll list most of them though:
pontecyber.com pontecyber.net pontecyber.biz pontecyber.info darkwizard.org boricuabeauties.com digitalblackie.com digitalsatin.com eponasoft.com ndsuncensored.com gamepushers.com nodtveidt.com nodtveidt.net alittledetodo.com deskqueen.com gringogoodies.com mrscamuyqueensize.com

There are a few others but they're not worth mentioning as they are project domains I own.

OK I think I'm going to ride it out then. Thanks for the advice everyone. We will work this issue out come hell or high water. And yes, I know I'm sitting on a great idea right now that will turn a nice sized profit eventually. I'm not afraid of hard work...never have been, never will be. :D But yeah, we will do what we can to work this out with the landlord. Thanks again everyone. :D

I forgot to add ;

You seem really motivated by your idea. Maybe it's hard but forget your house, rent something and start working hard for few months and as you said, you'll make money and buy again an house, and probably a better house.

If you believe it, you can do it.

Sincerely good luck and let us know

You have absolutely no family or friends to turn to such that you'd come to a place like this asking for handouts from people who don't know you? There's probably a reason for that - resounding no from me, sorry. There's zero reason to trust you.

Already went that route. But it's fine...like I said, I didn't expect anyone here to be able to help out someone they don't really even know. No, you really don't have any reason to trust me.

The only chance we have in terms of family is my wife's grandfather. The guy is wealthy as hell but is also a miser. We've asked for his help before when we were looking for startup capital for our business but he always makes up completely lame and bullshit excuses as to why he won't help, saying "go get a loan" (which we have also done, and we owe for that now too since our business didn't work thanks to the sabotage). Granted he doesn't have to help either, but this is the kind of person who would rather see his own family on the street than give them a penny. Yeah, he's THAT cheap.

ask her grandpa again, he might agree.. i can loan you like $1-2k but i need to know who you are and stuff.. will you be willing to fax/email over a license + utility bill just so i know you are real and i know who to come for if i dont see the money?

dont need SSN or anything, just a name and address that matches, a scammer wouldnt be willing to provide that..
