1 LB Ground Beef in the states is around $2 - $3, A pack of cheese is around $1 - $2.

1 LB of beef will produce about 4 burgers, cooking time anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes.

4 Burgers X 20 minutes cooking - 10 minute clean up = Costs $3 - $5.

4 McDonalds double cheeseburgers X a three minute wait = $3.97

I have to agree that McDonalds is cheaper then cooking your own burgers, also I have to agree that poverty and obesity go hand in hand. Alot of people who can afford $4 for burgers from McDonalds cant affort the money and time it would take to make it themselves.

No way, I just broke it down too from my last grocery receipt. Even if you forget ALL the leftover cheese, buns, tomato, onion and lettuce.. it's under $1 each burger.
Sure a pack of cheese might be another buck or so, but you're not using 30 slices over 4 burgers. You're using like 10 cents worth.

And dont forget the medical complications from eating too much shit food. Oh well, it's hard to convince people beyond the sticker price I guess.

Lunch time! (I have a serving of soup left from my 99 cent can. 49 cent lunch anyone? anyone?)

I can see both sides to this. Even if McDonalds isn't cheaper, here's something you can't deny: poorer people eat more fast food. Poorer people are much more likely to be overweight. There's a connection, even if it is all their fault... whether it is cheaper, or it's just marketed to seem cheaper, or it's just more accessible.

Interesting points in this thread all around.

The per burger cost of making your own may be lower, but what if you don't need to make 6 of them? You can make anything in bulk to save money, but most people won't want to eat the same thing for 3 days in a row.

you cannot make it cheaper if you buy it at the store.. because the store doesn't sell grade D meat. If they did, then you could make it cheaper.

I've never been lucky enough to see him live, but I've been a fan since I was 13 (1986/87). I hope one day I can see him live.

Got 4 dbl Q pounder w cheese by going to two McDonalds and using two 2 for 1 "on any large sandwich" coupons.

So I bring home 4 of these. Thinking great deal. I'm thinking, "hell you can't even buy "beef" that cheap." Ate one that day. Woke up feeling like shit. Ate another the next day. Felt really tired and shitty. Realized I did not get a good deal as I ended up throwing the last two out.

When you're a young man with a fast metabolism you can eat that stuff but there comes a time when it has to go. McD's is history. You can't rebuy something you threw out.

Also never go there right before closing. One time I did and got a dbl Q pnder w cheese. It tasted like nuclear oil. Bad shit man.

There is something not right in Denmark with McD's beef. Looks like beef. Tastes like beef. Gets inside you and wreaks havok.

Here's the band 'Steeler' he was with when I saw him. His first band in the U.S.

I've seen Blackmore every chance I've had over the last fifteen years - Beyond words what those two men can do to guitars.

I'm an average sized guy who enjoys the breakfast from time to time.

The food I had was just orgasmic for some reason... which is why people get addicted to it, unfortunately.

First of all, I say fuck you to all of the people who are suing McDonalds for making them fat asses. McDonalds puts its nutritional information on the wall and on the website, and on the fucking wrapper of the cheeseburger. So if you get fat because you eat there every day, then you have nobody to blame but yourself.

McDonald's is cheaper than cooking yourself. They use much lower quality ingredients. Plus, if you cook the food yourself, you have to account for the electricity/gasoline to operate the stove, and the water to wash your dishes, and the electricity to operate the lights in your kitchen and dining room (versus eating at McDonalds).

And most importantly, if you are a mother working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet and you have to feed your children, you probably don't have time to cook, so McDonalds is the only option.

I fucking hate mcdonalds, and most fast food for that matter. However, everyone keeps talking about Mcgangbangs, makes me want to try one. It's a double cheeseburger and mcchicken combined.

Those also require a skillet, electricity and/or gas, a stove or other heating device etc. I have a feeling some of you just have no idea what it is to be actually poor. When it's 102 degrees in the house and your refrigerator broke you eat fucking McDonalds.

lol, forgot to mention this yesterday.

I once hit the drive thru at McDonalds for lunch. This was almost 9 or 10 years ago. I bought 2 double cheese burgers, ate one of them, left the other in the bag and threw it in the back seat. The next morning, I was involved in a car accident and had the car towed to the shop for repairs. It took 2 weeks to fix, it was damn near totaled.

When I got the car back the burger was still in the back seat. Out of curiosity I looked at it and it looked like I just bought it.

So I got real curious. I took the burger and stuck it in my tool bench closet. Time went on and I forgot about it. I didnt find it until almost a full year later.

Unwraped it, and no shit, it still looked like I had just bought it.

Needless to say, I myself stay away from fast food these days, I've also started to eat more non processed and organic foods, Grow veggies, that kinda shit.

But McDonalds does taste fucking good.....

Aw come on now. I've had to cook in the backyard on a grill for days on end, and eaten stale bread with ketchup on it for a meal and "bath" with a washcloth in a store bathroom.

But the deal is that while yes you need to use power to cook food, you also need to use power to go to a food place and if we're really adding up tangental things like that, then we need to add the health care cost or lack thereof and all kinds of silly things.

I just know that, for me, I can and do make my food cheaper and better than they ever could. And if I only had $1 to spend, that means I'm already on food stamps and public assistance, and eating anywhere but home is either free, or stupid of me.

How much does a tin of baked beans and an egg cost? That is a better meal than Mc Donalds.

How are they cooking them now?

Pretty sure they got sued behind the molten lava, so they may wait a little longer before released on people that do not know the meaning of the word hot.

I've seen Blackmore every chance I've had over the last fifteen years - Beyond words what those two men can do to guitars.
I remember when he was with Steeler and also Alcatraz. Never seen them live either. Of course, in my town we never get concerts like that.. Shit like Nickleback and all that crap ya, but barely anything good. Not for me anyway. Back in the 80's we used to get cool bands here.. helix, ozzy etc.. but that changed.
