How much do you pay for milk?

Per Gallon or equivalent, the last time you purchased it. I'm curious as to how much it varies across the US and the rest of the world.

$1.79-1.89 per gallon at the grocery store, is what I paid yesterday...which seems pretty low, but is consistant here.

We buy about 15 gallons each week. It's the worst thing for me to drink and I'd probably be so much better off without it, but for me nothing beats an iced cold glass of milk and a bag of Raspberry Milanos.

$3.79 this morning for a gallon of 2%
This after the store changed brands they carry last week becuase the previous brand (Hood) was $3.99 a gallon and they wanted to jack the price to $4.19.

3.85 2 liters

Fuck is it good milk though.

Not organic or anything I think the dairy board in Canada fixes milk/cheese prices.

I paid $1.68 the other night for 1/2 gallon of 1% milk. Gallon was $2.19. Woulda got it, but when you're on foot, you must consider the weight of what you buy. A half gallon lasts me 2 weeks anyway.

Yep. It's nuts. I grabbed 2 gallons yesterday afternoon and they are both pretty much empty. So I'll probably buy 2 more today. 2 tomorrow and then 4 more when I shop for the week on Sunday.

I have 2 babies, so that accounts for a big part of it. I can bust through a gallon myself in 24 hours if there are enough cookies or cupcakes in house.

I was expecting to see a high price or two in Hawaii.

I pay around $4.50 for half a gallon. Kind of drives me crazy that lactose free milk is so much more expensive, but whatever, at least I can finally have cereal for breakfast!

Yuck. I'm very picky with my milk. I drink only 2% and only out of my fridge once it reaches a certain temp. On top of it, I have issues with dairy and my already fucked up digestive system. But I love my milk.

I don't think I could stomach the fresh stuff, right from the cow.

I'd love to have a cow though. We're trying to buy 12 acres right now and that would be something I could see for sure.

You want to be awake and home every morning at 5 a.m. and every afternoon at 5 p.m. to milk one cow?

If you get a cow for milk, it has to be pregnant a lot to be producing milk. So you're talking a much larger thing than just having a cow in a big field. Need to get it laid, then have a plan for calves, then repeat forever to get milk forever.

There's got to be a reason for having all these kids. Maybe milking the cow is it.

I'm the same exact way. I was allergic to dairy until I was about 15 and I think I drink so much milk now to make up for lost time.

I only buy milk when it's on sale and pay around $2 per gallon.

I drink unpasteurized milk, straight from Jersey cows. It's the best. Haven't had a cold or been sick for 2 years and counting since I started. Fuck does it taste good too. Cost is $7.50 for 2 liters. Expensive, but you get what you pay for, and in this case its preservative free, and growth hormone free real milk.
Added to that I make cheese from the milk I get...

If you buy a whole cow and milk it every day, it could be cheaper in the long term.
The cow is a lot of hassle for maintenance.

We pay $4-$5 a gallon here. And we used to go through a gallon for breakfast everyday, and another during the course of the day when all 5 kids lived at home still.

Now there's 3 left and its about a bag a day (gallon roughly)

All our kids are/were milk junkies.
