chargeback services any good?

Im a jus wonderin do any of these chargeback companies really work to reduce or recover chargeback?

Only way to stop chargeback to do proper post transaction analysis as soon as you got notification of new signup. better refund to avoid any fee. I don't believe on chargeback companies to reduce chargebacks.

What if the product was more than the customer expected? Would that reduce chargebacks?

I am thinking they must have struck a deal with third party billers to fork over the bank information that is doing the chargeback. Because that information is normally provided direct to the merchant from the gateway in the real world.

Yup. I monitor every sign up. Between my processors scrub and my own eyes we haven't had a chargeback in three months and we do about 15 new sales a day on average.

Here is what I do.

If I see a strange sign up for what ever reason I will change their password by a digit. Then wait for them to contact me because the pass dont work. If they don't there is a good chance it's fraud. I send an email then refund if no response.

In more obvious situations I outright send them an email letting them know we take their security seriously and would like them to contact our processor for validation. If no response, we refund.

Now that we are with CCBill as a primary and Zombaio as a secondary and my eyes as tertiary, pretty sure charge backs will be at a minimum. So far so good.

I would be dubious of companies who handle your chargebacks for you, its best to try and do this in-house if you have the resources. I worked in-house preventing/ disputing chargebacks and fraud and its a difficult area.

Reducing chargebacks depends on your business model, obviously cross sales etc drive high chargebacks, but looking at your site from a customers point of view is a good place to start.

The best way to handle disputing chargebacks are to pull as much information as possible on sign up (Ip address, IP location, Device ID, Device fingerprint, full address information etc) This way if the customer ever disputes the chargeback as "card not present" claiming their card was stolen then you can show the bank it was placed at their address etc.

Do work. I have looked people up on facebook to see if their sign up makes sense. Typically women dont sign up for Max Hardcore. We do have a few and after looking at their public profiles I knew they were freaks, and they are still on board months later.

That would be ideal but if your signups are in any form of volume that isn't even realistic..

Our chargeback prevention system is a direct integration with the card holders issuing bank. When a customer calls their bank to chargeback, rather then issue a chargeback the bank sends an "alert" to us which we push to the merchant. The merchant refunds the transaction, let's us know this was done, we tell the card holders issuing bank and the chargeback goes away.

It also reduces the risk of being site ripped, I do the same method, I got caught out in January missing one dodgy transaction and some cunt with a stolen card had access to my site for 2 weeks until I recognized the dodgy Ip address he was using (an Ip in Holland only this bastard has used time and time again to try and download my content). Now i am issuing DMCAs all over the place and having to watch various forums for this pirate bastard. I know it was this crappy sign up... and it got charged back too as I knew it would

My only chargebacks come from the odd stolen card, not actual disgruntled customers

We give your descriptor and customer service number to the banks via a feed. When someone calls to chargeback the bank customer service rep will see that descriptor enrolled in CDRN and send an alert to us rather than issue a chargeback. As long as we tell the bank the charge has been refunded the chargeback goes away.

Also we don't with every bank, we currently have coverage for 60% of US cardholders, and we're in talks with a number of additional US banks to increase our coverage. We are also in talks with a number of Canadian and EU banks. Through CDRN we can decrease your US based chargebacks up to 30%!
