Amazon is cutting your PRIME
Amazon wants to reduce its carbon footprint and give customers more control over when they receive their packages. The company found a way to achieve both in one new program.
Starting Tuesday, all Prime members in the United States will be able to select a particular day to receive a week's worth of Amazon deliveries. After a Prime member enrolls in the "Amazon Day" service, Amazon will hold everything they order throughout the week, and it will deliver the items together on the customer's selected day. So no more 2 day delivery if you opt for this service, so why pay the $100 a year for Prime ? ![]() |

They haven't replaced my 2 hour delivery, or same day delivery, or 2 day delivery. This is just another available option.
I wouldn't put it past Amazon to get rid of prime delivery in the future though, greedy corporations get to the top then service, convenience and quality slide to increase corporate profits to make shareholders happy and you end up with a Walmart experience. |

You will notice that when you place an order it almost always takes a few day before they ship, from what i hear from people i know at Amazon they do this to see if you place a second or third order then they can ship them out together and save on shipping. This has happened more often lately. |

I have a special kind of dog food I buy for my Great Dane on Amazon and it's $10 cheaper on Amazon for the 8-pound bag than it is at the store. I used to be able to get 2-day delivery with my prime membership buying 4, 8 pound bags of dog food at a time. What they've done recently is it still shows up as prime but I don't get it until 5-7 days later now. They tell me that prime means I don't have to pay the shipping lol The vender is the same, nothing's changed but my delivery time. Amazon delivery quality has gone way down since they've created their own delivery service, AMZL. I've had stuff delivered to the wrong house almost every fourth delivery and have to call Amazon to report it and hope a neighbor brings it to my door (they always have so far) |

We had a business account, I can't tell you how many things that we ordered that we did not receive or broke within a few days and we basically had no recourse. Several cases of an item not even showing up. Other cases of return shipping fees were much higher than replacing the product. I ended up canceling our business account and have gone back to box stores. Saving me $5 every other order is not worth it if we can't get support when it's needed. In regards to the shipping, I always had a feeling this would happen at some point. There's no way it made economical sense.

Occasionally my orders are a day late. I email and point out that two-day delivery is not supposed to take three days. They give me a five dollar credit each time. Few weeks ago I was expecting a package overnight but it took two days. I complained and they gave me a full refund of $12 plus $3.99/shipping. They surprised me as I didn’t ask for the item to be free.
This reminded me that my phone case should have been delivered today. Just tracked it and it was delivered at 5:34 pm. Gotta love delivery guys who leave packages on the front porches but don’t ring the bell. I choose to opt-out of the option for all deliveries on one day. I joined Prime when it was first offered and when I’d order almost every day I didn’t want to wait. Afew times my two day delivery is sent by the post office. I bitch and they credit me five dollars. If I wanted slow delivery, I’d not choose Prime

Speaking of Amazon, it appears they can operate legitimately in Australia and afford to pay union wages... same with all American fast food chains here.
https://www.smh.com.au/business/work...27-p510ir.html Amazon employees will receive a base rate of pay starting at $28 per hour for ordinary hours. Penalty rates and overtime loadings will also be paid, along with six weeks of paid parental leave. Other benefits include subsidies for training courses and healthcare including dental and eye cover. Weekends and over time will be at time and a half, same with the 12 public paid holidays a year and lets not forget the 4 weeks annual paid leave on top of that. + 12.5% towards 401k and medicare levey 1.7% Bezos can be made good, just takes a little arm twisting. |

Amazon are far and away the easiest/best customer support I've ever dealt with, they remind me of back when I used to work on a trade counter - job #1 is to solve the problem as quickly as possible, with minimum aggro. There is no job #2 (sorry CurrentlySober). I get that someone else's experience means fuck all when it comes to your own, if it's been bad, I guess I'm kinda wondering aloud why your experience is so different to mine. I'm struggling to remember any of my friends/online buddies having a poor customer support experience with amazon - are your orders fulfilled by amazon? Or maybe your troublesome purchases are bought from a 3rd party seller that use amazon's platform? The return shipping fees you mentioned set that alarm off for me, as amazon themselves don't have returns fees (unless specifically for business accounts). Fwiw the only bad experiences I've had with support have been when I've missed that items were from 3rd party sellers - I buy a LOT of stuff from amazon, so though the %age of problems is very very low, due to volume I probably deal with issues more than many. 100% of my issues that are from goods sold by, or fulfilled by, amazon have been solved with no problems at all. If you haven't already, and as long as I'm not trying to teach you how to suck eggs, I'd see if the problems were from 3rd party sellers, as at the risk of sounding like a paid shill lol, amazon piss all over nigh on everyone else for customer support/satisfaction. nb I concede I may get some kind of special treatment I'm unaware of as a higher than average spender there for over a decade |

Its not that life is good in Australia, Its that these American franchises come here wanting pay the wages they do back home and hit this brick wall called.. unions and employment laws.
So eventually they all turn and start paying local rates, you know a decent living wage And what you find is NONE of these franchises loose money here in fact their Australian operations are normally their most profitable. We certainly aren't getting a great deal.. its normal, but you need to realise in America your getting the splintered broomstick.. simply because they can. |

![]() I lived in Australia for 5 years without coming back to America even once during that time. America is fucked because multinational corporations are allowed to bleed us dry on drug prices, medical care costs, insurance costs, housing prices and non liveable wages. When my friends from Australia came to visit me here they were shocked at how expensive and overpriced everything is. The quality of life in Australia is much MUCH better than in America because of your affordable housing & great wages, amongst other things. Your federal minimum wage is $18 an hour, in America it's $7.25 an hour. |

Remember that the Australian $ is $1.41 to the US $ so When you work for Mc Donalds in most states you get $15.00 American per hour which is $21.12 Australian. But i agree mainly because of ridiculous healthcare prices the American people are kept poor!

600 square foot apartments in my area start at $2,175 a month. So if you work 40 hours a week @ $15 an hour, you can barely afford rent making $2,400 a month. You'll have $225 left to live on after rent. I just checked 1 bedroom rental rates in surfers Paradise Australia where I lived. 1 bedrooms walking distance to the beach start at $1,660 a month. So working 40 hours a week @ $18 an hour you make $2,880 a month. You'll have $1,220 left to live on after rent. Yeah healthcare & drugs are super cheap in Australia. Healthcare in Australia is 9% of their GDP. Healthcare in America is 18% of our GDP averaging $10,739 a year per person. |
