the second buy increases it to 50 years or something the 'good guess reason' is a federal trick to dry up ammo supply.. however this ammo shortage is impacting police forces, who are now forced to borrow from the citizenry |

Fine, let's do the math. 750 million rounds divided by five years is 150 million rounds per year. DHS has 240k employees. That's 625 rounds person per year. Fuck, I use more ammo than that per year.

Are you really saying that having a reporter behind the front lines and accompanied by a military censor at all times was better than having reporters physically on the front line with troops with no supervision what so ever?

You can google it...or you can just watch it for yourself. Tune in tonight. Watch Rachel Maddow and see for yourself. There will be NO conservatives on there. DVR Hannity or OReilly tonight. I GUARANTEE you there will be a liberal on there. And there are liberals on Hannity and OReilly every night. Not just every once in a while. That's one of the reasons that Hannity trounces Maddow in the ratings. Neither one is a real news show. They are both sucking up to their respective conservative and liberal audiences. But Hannity's show is simply a better SHOW (talking entertainment). As I said...just watch both of them tonight (DVR one of them). Then, without worrying about politics or what you personally believe, just check them both out and see who has opposing views on their show. And yes, Buchanan WAS on MSNBC. And he has talked at length about being forced out of MSNBC over his political viewpoint and how they didn't want any real conservative views being pushed on the network. It was a move by them for ratings...they THOUGHT that since the country had voted Democrat in 2008 that it meant that more people wanted to see liberal hosts. Turns out they were wrong in that regard (viewership numbers). They have the same problem that "Air America" had (the failed liberal radio talk show debacle from a couple of years ago). They just aren't hiring any good entertaining men or women that can reach out and grab an audience. There is no liberal version of Rush Limbaugh. And that is what MSNBC needs (I'm talking ability to entertain people and put "asses in the seats") |

In Vietnam, the reporters showing what was REALLY happening over there from both sides was what got the country to protest that war. In Iraq you had the press buddying up with the military. How the hell can a reporter be expected to give the full story if they never see the other side of the coin and are becoming great friends with the people they are supposed to be covering? Come on...the military, the govt., and the press all together as one big happy family? That is the exact opposite of what a free press is supposed to do. Ernest Hemingway was on the front lines of the Spanish War and wrote some of the most compelling war time reports in history from what he saw. More recently the reporters that covered the Vietnam War did the same thing. The ones "embedded" with the troops? Nothing but nationalistic, glowing reports of how we "liberated" the Iraqi's. It was shameful of the press to do that. |

Think of it this way, they have military weapons, they are using M4's and M16's . They can fire .223, but they are made for .556 which is a NATO round. There is a shortage of civilian ammo, not military ammo.

They are just denying citizens their 2nd amendment rights by hoarding ammo, civilian ammo. Nothing to worry about there

Look, I could give a shit how many rounds of ammo they have (though for actual guys with guns in homeland security it's a LOT more than 650 rounds). I have had my current shotgun for 10 years. Bought a box of shells. I think I've shot it 5 or 6 times (that's 5 or 6 shots total). I still have the box of shells sitting in the closet. By your math, I should be shooting a box of shells every hour or so 24/7 lol Have Homeland Security ever had a "shootout" with "bad guys" or actually fired their weapons in any type of situation other than practice? |

Of the nearly 9,000 delivered MaxxPro units to the military, the Department of Homeland Security is apparently taking delivery of an undetermined number of the recently retrofitted 2,717 ?Mine Resistant Protected? MaxxPro MRAP vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.
![]() The International® MaxxPro® is Navistar Defense?s Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle and incorporates the latest design in armoring technology. MaxxPro® MRAP specifications: Length: 254″ (21.2 feet) Width: 102″ (8.5 feet) Height: 120″ (10 feet) Wheel base: 153″ (12.8 feet) Curb weight: 37,850 lbs. (18.9 tons) Engine: MaxxForce® 9.3 The MaxxPro MRAP is built to withstand ballistic arms fire, mine blasts, IEDs, and other emerging threats. Gebus chist!
WTF? [T]he Department of Homeland Security is apparently taking delivery (apparently through the Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico VA, via the manufacturer ? Navistar Defense LLC) of an undetermined number of the recently retrofitted 2,717 ?Mine Resistant Protected? MaxxPro MRAP vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.? These MRAP?s ARE BEING SEEN ON U.S. STREETS all across America by verified observers with photos, videos, and descriptions.? Regardless of the exact number of MRAP?s being delivered to DHS (and evidently some to POLICE via DHS, as has been observed), why would they need such over-the-top vehicles on U.S. streets to withstand IEDs, mine blasts, and 50 caliber hits to bullet-proof glass? In a war zone? yes, definitely. Let?s protect our men and women. On the streets of America? ?? ? ?They all have gun ports? Gun Ports? In the theater of war, yes. On the streets of America?? Seriously, why would DHS need such a vehicle on our streets? ![]() 2,717 of them? Is this going to be Obama's new motorcade? Are you fucking kidding me? Guess they want to ready for any Tea Party uprisings!

Everything I see is they ordered all 2717 of them This is scary, there are things in place that keep the military from being used for certain things inside the US, now Obama seems to be building a civilian force that's completely under his command that using the Patriot act can do just about anything they want. Buy up ammo to keep civilians from getting it Spy on the AP news service Spy on the US population Target conservative groups finances increasing drone usage, can't wait till one of those is used on US soil Homeland Security released 1,000's of prisoners because they said they couldn't afford to keep them?

The evening news showed scenes of reporters AT battle scenes while bullets were flying in Vietnam. And yes, they then went into burnt out villages and showed kids and women (civilians) dead everywhere. They weren't "allowed" into "approved areas" in Vietnam, they went everywhere. There were LOTS of gonzo journalists everywhere in Vietnam. But as usual...you seem to want to try and be contrarian in every annoying way you can when it comes to discussions about the govt. ![]() I get it man, you feel totally free and trust that will never change. I understand. Some of us do not feel that way. I see "baby steps" towards less freedom in our country. And I believe in a free press, free speech, right to privacy...and the bigger the govt. gets, the less I trust them. That's just the way I feel about it. And the history of what our govt. does...right up until today...doesn't make me feel any better about them in any way. |

Fake Story? Are you that ignorant? You're really reaching on getting a deal on bullets, when has the US government ever looked for a deal? http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...gun-ammunitio/ 1.6 billion rounds, 750 million more over 5 years. There is no reason for HOME land security to have that much ammo. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1797069.html Please tell me why the Social Security Agency needs 174,000 bullets for 295 agents? 589 rounds per special agent?

Yes, there is Brett. That's 600 rounds per employee per year. I'm pretty sure they are all required to shoot at the range multiple times a year...

Jesus Christ...the office of "Homeland Security" didn't even exist until recently (9-11?) and now it's suddenly vital to our very existence and has 135,000 gun carrying officers?
Nice little army they have there. ![]() |

Can't change the past, but saying it's Bushes fault, well that was a FEW YEARS AGO. Obama promised hope and civility in Politics, does that include the mess he inherited from himself?

I wonder how many sites the DHS is required to secure. Thousands of airports, ports, government buildings, borders, oil storage facilities.... Not too far from me in Martinez California there is a huge oil refinery with dozens of massive storage containers. The only think preventing someone from leaving the freeway and driving right up to these huge tanks is a chain link fence. Every refinery should have two or three of these armored trucks. Ironically, on my drive up from LA yesterday I saw a DHS "tactical command center" truck on the freeway...
