Madeline, who lives in Brisbane, Australia, has Down syndrome. She writes on her Facebook page that she believes ?modeling will help change [society?s] view of people with Down syndrome.?

?Exposure will help to create acceptance,? she says.

According to WPVI-TV, Madeline struggled with her weight as a youngster. Thanks to healthy eating and exercise, the teen lost 45 pounds Madeline now dances, swims and does gymnastics and cheerleading.

Madeline?s mom, Rosanne Stuart, said she hopes her daughter will inspire other individuals with Down syndrome to make similarly positive lifestyle choices. Studies have suggested that children with Down syndrome are more prone to be overweight

?People with Down syndrome can do anything,? Stuart told Buzzfeed. ?They just do it at their own pace. Give them a chance and you will be rewarded beyond your greatest expectations!

There are all sorts of models in TV commercials, all shapes and sizes...impairments etc..(although there needs to be more) modeling should be representative of society. But the term "beautiful" is pretty subjective and the vast majority of people have pretty fixed ideas of what is beautiful...locked in since childhood. Nothing is going to change there.

I am not a huge fan of mindless praise. In fact, it can devastate a child's growth and development. Telling a child all day long how intelligent they are will cause them to slow down, take less risks, stop trying as they try not to expose themselves for being human. It actually lowers child's IQs. Anyone that is a great coach knows you NEVER praise ability or outcomes. You praise hard work and effort. It's like American Idol when they tell the kid that he can't sing at all at the audition and he's come rely baffled and confused and then gets angry.

Personally I do not think that genetic deformities should be celebrated and eroticized. There is a reason that we have a sexual response/attraction to healthy individuals.

That reason is that they are more likely to be worthy of reproducing with as they display characteristics/traits of strong healthy genes and are more likely to result in strong healthy offspring to keep the species going.

Sure, it is politically correct these days to say that everyone is hot...overweight and clearly unhealthy people and people with genetic abnormalities/defects but deep down we all know the true - they are not.

Our brains don't do that at all. For the most part, our brains are working overtime telling us that we are funnier than we are, smarter than we are, wittier than we are and more attractive than we are and better mates than we are. A person with bad genes has more opportunities with a similar person. A person with great genes has more opportunities with everyone. An ugly person can possess some traits that women find attractive and which tie in directly into the safety and survival of offspring (strong, fighter, leader, smart, outstanding social skills etc) and pull a hot woman. But that would be the exception, not the rule.

My point was simply that beauty is not some objective notion being shaped by greedy womens magazines and Hollywood as the hoards of fat, cunty feminist twats have been saying for decades. Beauty and even a shared understanding of aesthetic beauty are build into our genes and are generally universal. So just proclaiming a mentally retarded person "beautiful" won't change that simple genetic fact. All that WILL change is that people will pause a little longer and dig a little deeper for a socially acceptable response... which is most typically what happens in testing unconscious bias.

To clarify, my point was more in the sense of American Idol auditions where they have a kid that can't sing... but has been told by his goofy twat of a mother that he's the best singer ever since infancy.

That gets extremely complex and speculative and things can also have multiple causes at once. It's actually something that interests me a great deal. Fetishes interest me but theres not a lot of reliable, published studies examining the brain and weird fetishes.

The first problem of our conscious thinking is that our brain is wired to identify a single cause and has an area of the brain fully dedicated to this. (i.e. "why did i get burned"... "the fire burned me" "therefore, done touch fire... and you won't get burned") but life today is infinitely more complicated than hunting/gathering and fucking and fighting and we tend to always overlook the feat that we live in an incredibly complex environment and for any action or behavior or event, there are multiple causes.

If you look at something like a foot fetish, where a male is turned on sexually by female feet, that's likely caused by something difficult to sum up. The short story is that your brain actually has a map of the body laid over one side of it in a strip which it references for a variety of reason (determining locations of sensations etc). It's just a jumble of physical features (right hand, left hand, lips, nose, left foot, right foot etc), not a picture of a body. The feet and genitals are located next to each other and a sexual attraction / or sexual stimulation relating to feet is most likely the result of and overlap/cross chatter in this area of that map. Conversely, disruptions in the signaling in those areas can cause conditions where you might not recognize your own arm as your own.... leading you to amputate it and not just amputate it, but know the exact line on your arm where you want it amputated (yes, thats a thing) because thats the only way your brain can escape the 24/7 chatter saying "thats not your arm... whos arm is that... why is that arm there... do something about that strange arm" and so on. Asking why a person likes a skinny girl or overweight girl, i would guess is like asking "why does he enjoy being shit on during sex" or "why does pain turn him on during sex" or any other sexual preference. It could be for a multitude of reasons or multiple reasons combined. There aren't usually clear answers to questions like that as they aren't typically the result of brain function/miswiring as much as influenced by environment/experiences/abuse etc. I used to love skinny girls because I grew up around very fat girls. All i ever fantasized about was skinny girls. Then you spend 2 weeks banging a bag of bones, and suddenly something else seems more appealing and tastes and desires move in another direction.

Exceptions to the rule however, do not negate the evolutionary rules which guide our behavior and which are innate to all of us.
