you don't want diets to last. dieting is inherently unhealthy. ideally, you want to be on an eating plan (diet) that provides you with all the macro and micro nutrients you require and withing the caloric window for your body.

i disagree with a lifestyle change somehow being easier than not. in fact, i advocate not looking at this sort of thing as a lifestyle change. lifestyle changes are bigtime difficult and the typical person stops trying to change their lifestyle after only 1 or 2 missteps.

i actually like the way the op is attacking the problem. while he does have some vague issues, cal counting, etc, starting this sort of thing by stopping bread and refined sugar is a good solid beginning.

what exactly is going to cause kidney failure? my protein, my aminos, or my creatine? please go on. and back up with what you say with published medical journals please, just as i proved you wrong with the aminos thread. 2 shakes a day, and 7 grams of creatine will have zero effect on anything, and its proved so in my bi annual blood tests for the past 4 years

If you hit a plateau, and want to see a good boost in fat loss, try HIIT interval training -- specifically Tabata protocol.

The whole idea is to compress a high intensity workout into a short period of time...and I'm proof it works. My 40 inch waist has lost 6 inches, and I'm down about 15 pounds.

Don't try to do Tabata every day...if you can, then you're not doing it at full intensity. Just work it into your regular routine. You can use almost any exercise.

Oh, and there's a basketball court at my LA Fitness. Playing an hour of ball every day with the brothers ain't hurting either. I've become so into B-ball that I now own 3 basketballs and 2 pairs of shoes.

In a study(1) that was performed this year designed to study the effects of a high protein diet in young men, the blood markers for kidney function of 77 men who participated in an average of 6 hours of weight training per week (average age of 26), and ate a diet consisting of 19% protein were analyzed. Their protein intake came out to be about 0.76 grams of protein per pound bodyweight, which is very close to the 1 gram per pound minimum that is typically recommended for bodybuilders. Primary blood tests for kidney function were ran in which blood urea nitrogen, uric acid and creatinine levels were monitored. The measurements showed that all of these items were within normal parameters in all participating men.
Therefore, one can conclude that a high protein diet does not apply stress on healthy kidneys.

It must be mentioned that kidney function naturally declines with age due to the gradual loss of nephrons which are the kidney's filtering units. This loss can be caused by ailments like heart disease since in this case the blood flow to the kidneys is reduced. Also untreated high blood pressure can lead to kidney damage as well as long term use of prescription and non prescription pain relievers such as aspirin.

there's a lot of misinformation out there re: protein. not only in the bb world but i think worldwide in general and it started with WHO and the usrda under-prioritizing protein as a valuable macro. only 2 of the 3 macros are absolutely required- protein and fat. there are over 100,000 proteins in the human body with a handful of those being essential. when i design my eating plans, the very 1st macro that gets sorted out is protein. i then fill in the remaining required calories with fat, then carbs.

everything i say, do, eat, even the way i train has been taught to myself, by myself. I dont put anything in my body without doing extensive research. its assumptions and broscience by people like glen who spread misinformation and just add more to the hype that protein is bad and this isnt good and thats not either and blah blah blah. I have blood work to prove youre wrong, medical studies, you name it. lets see what his rebuttal will be. I can guarantee you it will have no scientific backing, or he just wont post in this thread anymore as he did last time.

it's fine. it won't win any taste awards but in a smoothie made of

almond milk
casein protein
egg protein
banana
take charge

it tastes just fine and goes down the hatch no probs. i drink a couple a day. sometimes i make em ~100g protein after a heavy workout or something and i find the take charge helps with that much protein.

right on, you can also take a break from your vitamin sup while eating take charge too. you can use any fruit you want, hell i put an entire apple in sometimes, seeds, core, everything. in fact, i think the official recipe should use an apple, not a banana. but hell, bananas are almost as good as apples, just a bit low on the fiber, that's why monkeys eat the peel i guess...........

Losing weight that quickly isn't really healthy. You can mess up your hormone levels and whatnot, especially at 43. It's different if you're competing - I've had guys drop 25 pounds in three weeks, but it's not weight that's easy to keep off.

I saw that movie, and while I think most diets are shit, this one makes total sense -- those green smoothies are all kinds of good for you. There's not much better things you can put in your body.

I couldn't follow his diet that strictly, but I work green smoothies into my weekly meals.

BTW, I highly recommend the Ninja 1100 blender. It chews through anything and is so well made. One of the best products I've ever bought.

I have 205lbs on a 6'1" frame from eating right and hitting the gym 5 times a week. I have an 8 pack and 18" inch arms. Not to mention my waist is barely 32 inches. Haven't measured body fat in awhile but figuring that I can see the striations in my thighs and chest I'm guessing I'm sitting somewhere in the single digits.

I couldn't imagine force feeding myself 4,000 calories a day. And swallowing horse pill sized tabLet's 10x a day. Life must suck for you. To have to go through all of that shit just to maintain? You've been drinking the bodybuilding.com koolaid for far too long.

Eat right. Make sure you get enough protein. Work out. Take a multi. Period

If it takes adjusting and planning your entire day around calorie intake then you're doing something wrong.

ive done this over the course of 3 1/2 years, i was 117lbs, i now sit at 180 @ 7-8%. im not doing a single thing wrong. I go out and still have a social life, i just choose not to drink. I dont take any tablets except my multi and fish oil. 4200 to bulk 3600 to maintain. I wont start to maintain till i hit around 185-190 then i will work on really sculpting the muscles to get that density I want, and that really comes with time. Gotta love muscle maturity. I think i got this under control tho. anything worth having is worth sacrificing for!

7 pounds in 9 days is a little too fast. you should be aiming for a couple of pounds a week at best. crash weight loss usually means the pounds will pile right back on quickly. so you can enjoy losing 7 pounds that fast, but they will probably come back unless you spend the rest of your life eating like a rabbit.

seems like its the first spot where water and fat deposits itself. gyno is an actual inflamation of the gland or glandular growth. just tell your dr. its causing you discomfort and pain, if you have good health insurance get those lil guys cut out

Yeah mine is definitely little fat deposits. When I try to really lean out, that is always the last area to go.

Yeah... water drops right off your body when you deplete yourself, lower sodium intake and burn off a lot of stored glucose and start pissing/sweating a lot of water out with a diminished ability to store water when you drink more.

Burning fat on the other hand... you won't lose 1 pound a day unless you are starving yourself while climbing Mt Everest for speed... or unless you are morbidly obese at your starting point.

Update: down 13 lbs in 26 days. Workouts every day, 30 minute afternoon walks to store. No sugar, lots of fruits and veggies. Chicken, fish, and eggs on my salads, lots of nuts too. No breads, no white bread, no buns or butters, no pasta, no chilli or burgers (or I should say very little). A bit of cake when I went to a party. One cookie my roommate lured me to eat.

All my pants fit.

I probably only have another 8 lbs to reach my goal. I know it will be slower to shed the pounds now.

when quickly switching to a low mass/high roughage/high water diet like his that quick it will empty his bowels after a couple of days. Most of that weight is just poop.

I think i got this under control tho. anything worth having is worth sacrificing for!
too bad none of that makes you any taller.

btw, i'm just teasing. (in case anyone decides to flip out)
