People with ripped abs..

Care to share your workout schedule and routine? I dropped about 12lbs in the last 3 weeks and lost nearly all of my small beer belly and love handles. Now I want to make sure they don't come back. I have a good amount of core muscle now, but want to get the washboard abs going.

Tried this last year I think, but ended up working too much online and not eating right. After my little health scare from a few weeks ago I've reached a turning point and won't allow myself to become complacent again.

Looking for "non gym" around the house stuff. I have an ab roller, light weights, those push up handle deals and yoga ball, lots of floor space.

genetics and youth play a big part in it

it is hard for those without the genetics to drop enough bodyfat while maintaining muscle to have a ripped look

for those with the right genetics, they don't even need t work out

but anyways, diet is more important than the specific workout routine for those that can achieve it

and of course drugs can achieve when the genetics are not optimal, but that is not without dangers as a path to follow

its 99% what you eat to have those abs. the rest is genetics and exercise.

i will tell you that as a matter of fact, so will halcyon.

i used to be ripped in the gut and eating the way you have to eat to keep it takes tons of discipline.

pizza, forget it.
mac and cheese, no way

pretty much say goodbye to bad carbs. crunches and diet. pilates ball work for core strength if you really wanna go nuts.

Had bout of panic attacks and no appetite, so switched to fruit and gatorade, and ensure. Plus some sandwiches here and there. I am genetically predispositioned to being thinner.

Its more like 99% genetics. If you have the genetics it then becomes 99% food.

if you do have the genetics, which you might not, it still sounds like your diet is waaay off.... you need to be getting quality protein in a good ratio in every meal, fruit and other sugars without a complete protein and healthy fats is going to ensure a very soft look to your physique, even if you are thin

Oh I know that, that diet was just to keep enough food in my stomach for me to live lol. This is basically day 1 of time for new diet and exercise regiment. lol

i have the genetics. i'm american indian, we're as lean as they get. very lean, hardly no body fat. i hardly had to work out at all to keep my abs. i ate no bad carbs whatsoever and had a strict cardio routine, but as far as ab exercises, pilates ball and crunches are the two things you can't do without. but you are right, tons genetics, diet and exercise last.

all three things that you wont be able to have anymore.

cheese = terrible fat the kind of fat you cant have.
crackers = depending on what kind they are. could be ok, depends on whats in them.
jello = almost all refined sugar. no no no.

you're off to a good start. hehe. jk. fyi, not eating meals at the right times will do you no good. starving the body does more damage than help as far as weight loss, especially with your health complications lateluy

if you want hit me up later, i'll help you out, my old room mate was the nutritionist for the san diego chargers. i know more than i want to about the subject.

Basically I want to line up a starting out diet, and exercise regiment for the next 2 weeks to get things rolling. Want to dip my toe, or start out in the shallow end of the pool till my body starts to readjust. Im scared to push too hard to start off and end up burning myself out on it. I need to make it a life style change, and condition myself into it.

Currently today

5'9" tall
152lbs

I am fine with that weight, I was at 164 like I said a few weeks ago. When I tried this before, I did some pics as I went of my abs. I might do that again lol

a lot of bullshit misinformation in this thread, but that's expected asking a question like that here.

anyone who dismisses the ability of getting ripped abs to 99% genetics/99% diet (which is it then?) is simply misinformed about the hard work required to build muscle, lose fat and get thinner skin.

go read the articles at www.bodybuilding.com and other places online that have viable real info.

i used to have an 8 pack & 9% bodyfat...now i'm a 6pack and prolly 12% cause its wintertime

start off your mornings with a nice bowl of oatmeal sweetened with natural, unrefined, raw honey, and a couple of scrambled eggs & glass of water

eat 4-6 times a day, all small portions

sugar, soda, gatorade, cheese, pizza, etc has to go away

Thats the way I was with the "can't gain weight" till about 31 or so. 2 years ago I was pretty ripped for most of the year as I got heavily into doing uprigging for the sound and lighting company I sub contracted for. Its hard not to get fit as can be doing that job as you hang 120ft off the stage floor, drop your rope down and pull about 110ft of chain up to your anchor point. Needless to say that much chain being pulled up hand over hand tends to have some weight to it. For the longer chain runs we sometimes ran a tackle and pulley and a couple guys would pull from the sides to get the chains up. My arms were getting pretty big then.

I'd love to get my 6pack back. It's been about 5 or 6 years since i had one.

I doubt I can change my diet, even with my high cholesterol. Tonight I made a brined duck, spinach and sauteed(in the duck fat) garlic/rosemary potatoes.

I'm too good a cook to have a good diet.

no honestly what it is..

see our team capt/gen is 42 and will run circles around us still so the longer I hang the less my balls get busted.. plus we do 24 hour events and sometimes 48 hour or even week long events.. it's pretty realistic and the less in shape you are the lower you finish on the totem pole

Man that plan looks really good to start out, especially the nice lax 8:30 lap time.. I have a track across the street.. A normal track is a quarter mile, right?

I think I'm going to do this.. Are you really gonna do it sticky? We could take pics and have a friendly competition, perhaps? I'm going to Mexico for a month in 4 days, and I'm serious about using my time there to get in shape and feel better. I will eat carnitas like a pig though.. But I'll do the excercise, maybe diet later.

Don't worry about crunches and all that bullshit.

Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.

I think I'm going to do this.. Are you really gonna do it sticky? We could take pics and have a friendly competition, perhaps? I'm going to Mexico for a month in 4 days, and I'm serious about using my time there to get in shape and feel better. I will eat carnitas like a pig though.. But I'll do the excercise, maybe diet later.
yup starting tomorrow lol. I just got REALLY lazy and hit mickey dees lol. Fish sandwich, 3 nuggets out of a 6 piece, and a large orange juice. Not super bad, but now I feel crappy lol. I know I can do everything for sure tomorrow, but maybe not the running its friggin 22F right now in friggin Nashville wtf lol. High of 40 tomorrow. But Ill do extra laps in the pool instead. If I wasn't genetically thin I would be a porker

I'm not sure if anyone here actually has a six pack. I do. And I can tell you a raw diet for a few weeks with core training will show your abs sooner than you thought was possible. The question is... Do you have the discipline for a raw vegan diet?

Maybe it's eating brain cells though. You are here. You admittedly have a six pack. Therefore you *should* know that someone here has a six pack... Let that marinate.

And hold on a second here.. You're saying... NO MEAT?

lol what the fuck.. Like carrot sticks only you're talking?

And honestly, come to think of it, most of the more serious vegetarians I've known (even vegans) are kinda chubby.. What's the shit with that?

This worked good for me:

Eating well and keeping your body fat low with lots of cardio.

I was doing the abs three times a week, swimming and muay thai the other days. So I did something daily but that got me too skinny. I was eating like mad and barely gaining any weight. I used to be a little overweight before.

I am fine with that weight, I was at 164 like I said a few weeks ago. When I tried this before, I did some pics as I went of my abs. I might do that again lol
goddam, I'm 5'9 and 190+ and I'm not that fat... you must be rail thin already.

Hrmmmmmmm, I guess you're right.. Vegan doesn't mean HEALTHY food.. I never thought of it like that!

We used to laugh too, that they ate only vegetables and were all strict with that, but then would go do a bunch of chemical drugs on the weekends heh

i wasn't trying to be a dick man. yes, vegan doesn't always mean healthy. I was just saying that a properly prepared raw diet for a few weeks could more easily cut the layer of fat that he wants to rid himself of. I wasn't preaching about not eating meat or dairy.

anyone who dismisses the ability of getting ripped abs to 99% genetics/99% diet (which is it then?) is simply misinformed about the hard work required to build muscle, lose fat and get thinner skin.

go read the articles at www.bodybuilding.com and other places online that have viable real info.
amen!

also check out this book, it will give you a good healthy diet.

Oh I didn't take it like that, I was just fuckin around, like I can't even imagine not eating meat.. Sorry bad joke. I guess not eating meat and crap for a few weeks would have a profound effect.. But seriously it's like all raw vegetables, fruits, nuts and tofu basically?

I stopped drinking coke and didn't really mind.. I was drinkin like 5+ cans a day.. And if I drink ONE, I need more.. But honestly I've been trying to drink pretty much water only last few weeks, and I don't really miss the sugar.. Kinda shocking. But if I have a little bit of sugar, it's like back to the fridge every 2 hours looking for something sugary.
