We believe that all these sites have been terminated by Paypal in the last week. We do not believe any of them may process through Paypal again, however Paypal always deals with these matters on a case by case basis.

NOTES Copy Control does not claim responsibility for these or any other Paypal terminations. Many organisations work to deal with infringing sites. Some of these sites may have been reported earlier then re-reported as they continued to process with Paypal. This information is current at the time of publication and is subject to change.

Great job to AK and also to the Met Art Piracy team this week.

Congrats. How many sites have closed since you started? A kill tally would be excellent.

Many happy returns!

Month of July 2012

102 File Lockers lost Paypal
17 Image Hosts lost Paypal
12 Video Streaming Sites lost Paypal
14 Piracy Enabling Sites lost Paypal
149 Resellers lost either 2CO, Payza, Moneybookers or Paypal or a combination thereof.
29 File lockers lost 2CO, Payza or Moneybookers or a combination thereof.

The standard notes apply, many groups are responsible for reporting these sites, Copy Control does not claim responsibility for these terminations.

It's the very tip of a very big iceberg unfortunately.

The commercial piracy industry is larger than most people could possibly imagine.

This illustrates my point well. Nothing has changed for the big dogs. Each one of them alone is bigger and has larger negative impact than 102 hosts that lost PayPal combined.

When people can't pay they still click on the links, if anything they click more because they can't find what they are looking for, it will take a few months before you see Alexa rankings go down.

If you want to illustrate a point look at what happens when filelockers close their affiliate programs :

http://i.imgur.com/SlGUH.png

Filelockers losing their Paypal are lowering payouts, losing affiliates, in the long run it will affect their traffic drastically.

Would you venture to say the industry is in the $2-5 billion range.
I know there are claims of piracy costing all companies world wide in the tens of billions each year.

Similar when craigslist entered classifieds, for every million they made the newspaper industry lost a billion. Except what they did is completely legal, big difference.

There is no doubt this is having effect!

Yes it is.

and out of the 5 filelockers he mentions as "not losing their Paypal" two actually just lost it (FileFactory and Letitbit). one is a dying host living on old links (Hotfile.com), the other big one Depositfiles is scrambling with alternative Paypal accounts and banning affiliates by the dozen.

1200 posts and still you seem to not know how to use Alexa.
Pick the correct option and let's see what's going on:

http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=400...=letitbit.net&

Notice the huge spike right after 2012 marker?

These hosts except for rapidshare.com all have affiliate programs, all have PayPal and AK is not going to be able to do anything. That is why I offer some healthy criticism, that's all.

AK - what am I doing? Nothing. I've tried though, I know the very same people in PayPal you work with and I know word to word what they are telling you regarding the big ones, so I've said fuck that and went back to making money, not wasting my time.

What you do is good at it's core, there is no doubt about it, but will it have an effect or will it just make big ones stronger, more greedy?

DepositFiles by getting back their PayPal sent a powerful signal to pirates: We are immune!

The "huge spike" is Megaupload shutting down. and combined traffic is still down. 1300 posts and you still don't know how to read a chart?

You obviously didn't try very hard then. I don't remember you doing anything actually.

You have absolutely no idea of who we deal with at Paypal or any other processor for that matter and I think you will be extremely surprised at what does transpire over the next little while. You certainly have no clue about what discussions we have at any level. We do not discuss operational matters so you will never know.

FileFactory, Letitbit, DepositFiles all lost Paypal.

I know where you're coming from and understand your intention is to throw confusion into this thread. You won't succeed.

This is going to be a long drawn out war and it will need a lot of soldiers to dedicate time and effort to it.

So here's a deal.

Anyone who buys content mentioning "Paypal" gets 50% donated to the fight. Just contact me first, so I can know and tell you how to pay. So I can easily pass the money on. Crap make it 75%.

Three.Thousand 07-29-2012 08:17 AM

like i said before, if his actions doesn't have a positive effect then whats with all the panic over at wjunction, death threats etc? shouldn't it be business as usual?

I think i base my judgement on what AK and Nautilus reports, what i see on filehosts and what i see going on at wjunction, rather than some alexa graph.
