How can Acacia Media have a patent on all audio/video compression and then require companies to buy a license from them?

Why is Mircosoft or ESPN or any other mainstream company not in the news regarding this problem? Why does it seem that they are going after adult webmasters only?

Because Microsoft or ESPN would slap them down in court. Acacia is just bullying people without the wearwithall to fight them. It's actually very smart on there part even if we don't like it.

So what is the best way to handle this? I mean, I realize not too many people have the resources to fight them the way a Microsoft would, but what is a webmaster to do, just bend over and take it up the ass?

There has to be a way to stop them from doing this. I wish there was a way to file a lawsuit against them for wrongfull practice of patent laws.

I dream up new ways for us to make money. Thats what 90% of mojo and my day is spent doing. The rest of the day I spend posting on boards, talking in icq and breezing thru our programs and making sure all the cheaters are being caught.

If you're a small guy, do nothing. If the big guys aren't interested in fighting you're only option (as I see it) is to negotiate a license fee with them when they come a callin'
As far as I understand, they are out for $$$ not looking to shut people down.

What effect do you think the new visa 1% rule will have on the pay per sign up model. To this point we've only seen small changes by a few programs, do you see more changes coming?

Do you think VISA and/or Mastercard will ever kill automatic rebilling for adult sites? And if so how would that affect the current affiliate/sponsor model?
Would it hurt our business overall or would new joins and rejoins offset the lost income from rebilling?

I've got two options. I handle everything from here, in Australia. If i send cheques to webmastes in the US, they're gonna have to wait up to 5 weeks (unlikely, but possible) for them to clear. Wire transfer is the only fast option available.

Or, i can incorporate in the US. I don't know much about that kind of thing though. Is it difficult to handle affairs such as paying affiliates and accounting from overseas? Do you have any advice? Also, should i go with the second option, what's a porn friendly bank to go with?
