I started a gay tgp that's getting about 10k/day in traffic
http://www.freshloads.com/links.html

Theres no skimming on the site because I want to try and get the traffic to be as quality as possible and I want word of mouth and bookmarkers.

What can I do to make this site as profitable and as large (traffic) as possible? Should I add shemales to it too? Should I redesign? Should I add more features such as a messageboard or stories to get people to keep coming back?

I'd do freesites and avs and feed them with a portion, a large portion, of my TGP traffic. I'd try to get bookmarks to my freesites and also have links to my tpg pages on my freesites. This way, over time, your freesites become TGPs and you'll build traffic. Then you expand from there.

someone who's honest, well known, and well liked.
A broker cant broke if he doesn't know everyone.
I wouldn't even care if he had no content brokering experience as long as we was well known, well liked, and WANTED to broker for you.

Hi 12clicks some questions

what are the top 5 things you have learnt in the adult industry regarding increasing the return on each visitor? eg money made per a visitor?

What are the top 5 things u have learnt in this industry regarding gaining traffic?

If you was to start again in this industry today, what site(s) would you do?

go to your closest casino, find a roulette wheel and but it all on your favorite number. if it hits, you'll have about 1100.00
then shove everything to red. if that hits, toss the dealer a greeny, take your 2175.00 and be happy.

dude, I'm not really gay. its an act.

Keep shemales off the page. just as there is a very small % of strait guys who like she males, there is a small % of gay guys that like it.
The stories and message board ideas I'd definately run with. You'll have to man the message board with several usernames to keep it active at first but its a great idea for return surfers.
create a cybersex and hook up atmostphere.

If a train leaves Detroit travelling East at 60 MPH and two hours later a train leaves Chicago heading West at 95 MPH how long until the trains are 1850 miles apart?

Serious question.

Did you make money from the second you started doing commerical ventures on the internet or did it take time for you to become profitable?

I know many people who pour tons of money into unproved sites and loose huge cash and keep wondering why, but most people who make a dollar or two on the net that I know of made money from day one with their online ventures and almost no startup capital (including me), they spend more and more from profits on their business costs (ads, content, servers, bandwidth, staff, etc)and make more and more as time went on as their skills got better. Did your begining go like this or were you different?

give them options. banners, buttons, searchboxes, textlinks.
movies, stories, pics, live cams, amateurs, pornstarts, celebs.
Thats it. There aren't 5 things, there's one. give the surfer a variety of ways to make you money and get him off.

4. CJ, TGP, and exit traffic sucks
5. SE traffic is not what it used to be

None of SI's programs could support a freehost on their own. I'm not sure using all of them in concert would keep a freehost afloat (otherwise, SI would have a freehost)
SI programs have always been to squeeze out extra income from surfers in ADDITION to your main sponsors. The problem with the industry (all internet advertising) is that there are no "main" sponsors in mainstream that can be relied on to supply more income that the SI programs.

I made money from day one only because it was so easy to do when I started.
I came to this business with no understanding of how to build a webpage or even make a link and withing 3 months I was making more than I ever did in the real world.
Because we are an idea oriented company, our startup costs are always next to nothing. ideas are cheap but worth millions.

I started at the height of the dot com crash when everyone said I was an idiot to go into online business and made money from day one. I don't think it matters when you start if you have the RIGHT idea.

I still can't believe I'm agreeing with most of what you say.

well, you know. I always talk shit about always being right and knowing everything.

If you're going to *talk* about it, I guess you better occasionally show you can *be* about it.

gota disagree with parts of this one.

SE traffic is GREAT - no doubt, but try and get large quantities of it. Almost impossible

Link trades with non-similar sites - only on non-blind trades that describe what your site is about, blind trades like this don't do well in my experience (as limited as it is)

Toplists - this is a real crapshoot. most are soo full of popup hell that traffic on them overall (with the odd exception) is steadily decreasing as a market segment and TGP is taking over. A good clean site in the middle of popup hell may do well though.

I would find it hard to believe shap would rip ANYONE off. If there is any truth to this me thinks it just was a case of 'someone' saying they will pay 'x' dollars for 'x' clicks, not being smart enough to able to convert it so 'someone' decided not to pay..............

Please note I said "If"

The dude came onto the boards and called me every name in the book including "thief" over a topic that didn't consern him.
I thought that because of this it was time to see if his site was sending us traffic in compliance with our TOS. it wasn't.
If he had been someone who who hadn't called me thief and every other name he could think of, I'd have used my discression and told him to fix his links. As it was, I saw no need to cut him a break.
Life is tough, especially for those people who want to call their boss a thief in public.

that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get it. some people are good at getting LARGE amounts of SE traffic.

I never mentioned "blind" anything. Also, a link trade for me is a trade where both parties agree on the links text & placement.

again, its not like you throw you site up on a russian toplist. you have complete control over who you choose to do business with. choose wisely. There are plenty of clean toplists out there.

12Clicks, thanks for the opportunity. Here's my questions

1) Do Turnkey sites [like Sizco.com etc] retain users?

2) Since I'm building my own program, I'd like to get your tips on detecting and punishing cheaters.

3) Any tips on keeping content costs down?

Thanks in Advance,

G

you know, it's doing things that make you a hero in your own mind but screw people over that have made the vast majority of TGPs and similar sites move from actually trusting people like you and doing affiliate advertising to going to pre-paid ads only.

I suppose that's why you're kissing up to newbies on this thread and handing out a LITTLE bit of reasonable advise- hoping for a few new clients. Fewer and fewer established sites want to deal with crap like that form you and the more you do crap like that to honest people like Shap the more your REAL reputation gets around.

1) I'm not familiar with sizco.com but a turnkey site is a start, not a finish. If you continually add to it, it will retain.

2) I never give specifics about detecting cheaters but the key is collecting every piece of data available and then understanding what you're looking at.
you punish them by not paying them
3) I think you should shoot your own. amateur girls work cheap.

I'm not surprized you'd side with someone breaking my TOS.
you have no understanding of what "vast" is.
a few new clients? for which program again?
My real reputation has been around for over 4 years. Cheat me, get screwed, break my TOS in a small way, get an email asking you to fix it, break my TOS and call me a thief, get screwed.

You and shap have the same problem. you think alot of TGP traffic means anything in this biz, it doesn't.
the on;ly thing you and I have in common is that we both post on this board.
I run a multi million dollar in profits a yr business and employ over 40 people. You run a tgp and walk your dog when he scratches at the door.

hmm wow 12clicks

1) it seems that trial & error are the best ways to learn anything in this biz, but that can be expensive. how does a newbie ever break thru and start getting ahead? i know from speaking with friends in the biz that there almost seems to be some type of glass wall... and once u "figure it out" things mushroom & u make assloads of cash... any tips?

2) what kind of record keeping do u suggest? i know some people keep like dozens of spreadsheets on a daily basis. personally i just keep up with daily in & out $$, but i know i could do more to learn more about my biz & grow...

3) can i come over & watch a movie when u win the dvd player?

SE, link trades with non-similar sites, and toplists are 3 good ones.
This has been my strategy for a long time -- sign up for a trade w/ secretcurves.com and receive traffic within 10 mins ;) -- I trade w/ many non-similar sites :p

Seriously this is good advice -- non-similar categories have fresh surfers that haven't seen all the same ads and links -- the productivity goes way up and you make more money. People that won't trade with you because you are not in their "niche" are stupid... On the other hand it is difficult because sometimes a certain niche can dominate a trading site -- for example if you hit the top of a nipples toplist -- soon you will have a dozen nipples sites all wanting to trade with you -- forcing your other niches out of the way and productivity goes nuts -- so the best thing to do is get more sites and more variety.
