you don't need to get rich in this business over night. by slowly building your ability and knowledge, you're sure to not skip over important lessons.
I understand that plenty of others have automated submit scripts but it just isn't critical to have them from day one. Buy them when you can. In the mean time do EVERYTHING else you can to live without them.

Also, yesterday I said don't spend your internet money! put it asside to invest in your internet business. doing this will get you the scripts you need much faster.

When I started in this business, EVERYTHING was done by hand.

Never really owned autogallery or anything like that, so I don't know how much easier it makes the reviewing proccess. But, when I ran a tgp a while back, I know recieving 200-300 emails and reviewin' them by hand sure sucked balls. But oh well....gotta do what I gotta do.

How to learn salesmanship?

Or should I just do what I do and eventually get someone else to make more sales for me?
It depends who you are tying to sell. If you mean sell surfers into buying paysite memberships, I think a european, not quite proper english sales pitch would go over well with US customers because of the *possible* taboo nature of european sites/webmasters.

If you mean selling your stuff to fellow webmasters, thats more of a mystery. No matter what you do, someone will always *not* like your style. the idea is to be everywhere and hit as many people as you can.
Look at me. Every day someone somewhere is posting about how I'm no body in this business, how I cheat webmasters, how I'm an asshole, etc. Yet every morning I look through my mail and see webmasters lining up to get into our programs.
The public opinion of a few cheaters/scammers really doesn't carry the day. The honest people will see through the bullshit and want to work with you.

Its great that you're learning programing. Learn that and learn salesmanship (by watching others) After that, you won't need to hire others and you'll get to keep a bigger piece of your pie and also have more control over everything.

I hope that answers your question. If you meant something else, let me know.

I have been selling slides to Finnish and Swedish pornmagazines now.

What is the situation in rest of EU and USA with slides? How should I sell them? I would be interested in selling in bulk to a dealer/agent, not set by set to magazines.

So what to do? Any ideas?
I'd package them onto CDs. Since you produced them, I assume you could do that.
The market for them is much greater on the internet. The videos, if you still own them also would sell well to paysites.
if that answers your question.

12clicks, I have a pretty simple question as well. I plan on launching an AVS site - targetted on a specific niche, that I believe will (up)sell. I will pack the site with content, and lotsa good stuff so that I (hopefully) get some bookmarkers, too.

Would you recommend stuffing the site with top notch content ? I never dealt with AVS before and I'm afraid that the upsell will not be as good when I already provide the surfer with everything he wishes to see. Thanks

Yes it does , thank you. I mean selling to the surfer.

A simplification: I wanna sell surfer a membership to a paysite and I have 2 linking options
"NEXT PAGE" or
"GET YOUR CREDIT CARD OUT OF YOUR WALLET AND PREPARE TO PAY $39.95 FOR THIS GREAT SITE, AND BY THE WAY, IT'S RECURRING"
Obviously neither works very well

So finding the optimal selling technique seems to be quite difficult for me. I know I could double or even triple my income with better salesmanship skills.

Well, I'm a firm believer that you do better upselling when you give the surfer just a tast of something good and then say"see the rest here for $$$"

If I were doing it, I'd use the absolute best video I could lay my hands on but never show a cumshot. Give them a taste of great stuff but never enough to be satisfied. Same with pics. Find *BEAUTIFUL* girls but don't show the snapper. make them pay for the payoff. If they don't buy, the wouldn't have bought with more free content either.

This is just something you have to play with until you get it right. make identical pages (content wise) but use different sales pitches. see what works. sometimes its the wildest, stupidest stuff that works. (although the same thing doesn't work forever.

Here's a site: http://www.fatwives.com
its the ugliest site on the net. ther is even a banner for "pork, the other white meat" on it that goes to fatgirls.com this site has done 1:30 for fatgirls.com some months. How does it do it? fuck if I know.

I think you should play with the whole,"here in zee finland aur vomen do zings a bit differently" thing. "amerikans a zuch prudes. click en zee here and see zee finish girlz for $2.95"

(um, that might be my german accept there but you get the idea)

Shit like that works but it has to be different than what other people are doing so when the surfer sees it, its fresh.

yeah but you don't have to compete by showing pink. if you do a good job teasing them, you'll sell them. They guy showing pink IS NOT making more sales because of it.
If some guy is at his desk looking at porn for and you show him pink, what's left for him to want to buy?

Agreed... I for one prefer a chick posing in lingerie and stockings, rather than a chick with a dick jammed in her ass. Softcore does sell, just look to LightspeedCash as a good example.

Eq, hit me on ICQ.

P.S. I must do this in the htaccess or httpd.conf , I can' use java, php, or asp to help me. They won't work for my application.

Thx!
The HTTP headers are not in ENV, they are in the HTTP variable.

Nice.

Here's my newbie question. Can anybody become a hundredaire off of satire mixed with porn? The infant shell of my site for example:

sure you can! as long as you have the payoff pics in the end, it doesn't matter how you get there.

Make a certain comedic line or phase your trademark and people will go,"oh, yeah. I like this guys stuff" when they see the phrase.
know what I mean?

TGP questions today

1. Is it really possible continuously get a good number of signups from the gallery submissions? With good number I mean something between 1:10,000-1:20,000 ratio (sales per hits to gallery)

(Yesterday we talked about salesmanship, I said that I suck at it, but number of signups amaze even if people could sell. Say if you convert 1:500 you should be able to send 4% out of 20k gallery visitors to a sponsor in order to make 1 sale. To keep the conversation rate at 1:500 you cannot really use blind links, so CTR of 4% seems quite a challenge to me. What am I missing here or do most people talk shit and actually only make 1 sale per 80k visits?)

2. What's up with those really ugly galleries in top of many popular TGP's? Do people have other interests in submissions than just making sales? For example, making a certain site more well known etc? Or is it the same thing that you said yesterday about that Fatwives site which was ugly and yet it sold well...

is it a good idea to submit thumbnail pages to SE's, say i have a paysite thats getting good SE traffic and i have made 200 galleries for it, should i submit all 200 thumbnail pages or do the SE's consider that spamming? not all 200 pages in one day just like one a day..

I think TGP guys talk ratios of clicks to sponsors and kinda be vague about how many hits to their site they have. No one is doing 1:500 hits to the gallery. A popular, well bookmarked page may get 1:300 in clicks to the sponsor but thats because the TGP savvy surfer isn't clicking banners so 1:30000 hits to a TGP page would not be unusual.
(unless a TGP dude wants to show stats refuting this)

ugly TGPs use less bandwidth. (will you click ALL the pics of an ugly girl or just the best 2 or so) see what I mean? click 2 pics, move on or click my sponsor.

submit them all.

you still see some of these jokers clog up an SE with tons of pages. (mostly not relevant)
at least if you're relevant, you won't piss people off and make some money.
sending tons of pages a day might get you banned. otherwise, go for it.

If I were to let people host on my server for free, no scripting, just plain galleries and such, how do you think I should profit off it ? 404 traffic ? Signup under my affiliate sponsor account ?

Yikes, thats a tough one. most attempts at freehosting have failed. You should take EVERYTHING you can get away with. 404, top placement, etc.
I just don't know if its a viable way of doing business.

Me? of course I do this full time.
I tell people I own one of the largest, privately held, internet advertising agencies in the world.

Damn, 12Clicks - this was and still is a great thread.
Kudos to KK also for tossing in some good answers.

Here's something I haven't seen anyone ask about.
What's your opinion on token systems, such as using them as an alternative to AVS? Have you ever tried it (and if so, how did it go)?
Are there any that you'd recommend?

I still owe you a beer in Vegas. You should've come to Florida.

Never dealt with tokens. I never liked the idea. If someone is using them succesfully, I'd love to hear about it. I think its a bit complicated for the surfer and not enough money in it for the webmaster. (but thats just opinion from someone looking from the outside)

- FPA - Full Page Ad
- SE - Search Engine
- AVE - Avenue
- IMO - I my opinion
- Blur - dunno how to explain
- Doorway - sends your surfer exactly where you want him
- niche - different 'types' of porn, amateur, lesbian, fetish etc.
- ALT tags - ALT tags are alternate descriptions within IMG tags. Helps with SE placement.

12Clicks,
Thank you for taking the time to help everyone out. I was hoping you could take a look at our site and give some feedback. How would you approach marketing our unique product and what you think about the sales pitch, price points, etc. I appreciate your input!
