Yikes! multi part questions make my head spin.

if I were a newbie today, I'd do the tgp thing to get my feet wet. try to syphon off some traffic for my newly build freesites, and keep ALL internet earnings seperate from my dayjob earnings. Once I had a pot pf internet cash, I'd move on and try a paysite or create content. If you always spend your internet earnings, what will you invest with?

2. c) other. I'd work as many hours as physically possible. when I reached my limit, I'll know 2 things. One, I'll know whether what I'm doing will pay off and be profitable and two, I'll know where I need help and hire accordingly.

That's a tough question as only a small% of my business deals in adult. We do in mainstream whatever presents itself as a moneymaker.

In most industries, competition and barriers to entry increae over time. It seems as if the big companies are aggresively looking to enter adult online (flynt digital).

Do you think a time will come in the near future when a newbie cannot get into the adult web and make cash? When will it be too late? 2005?

No, there will be a time when *MOST* newbies won't be able to get into the adult web but the smart, hardworking ones should always be able to.

hard to say. in the early days you could make a fortune with pagemill and 50 pics. The learning curve now is already much steeper. at some point it will become too steep for the casual newbie to jump in.

Which method of expansion would you recommend?

a) concentrate on one niche. do TGP, free sites, AVS, CJ, top lists etc within that niche. When you're satisfied with the progress.. expand to the next niche

or

b) concentrate on one source of traffic (for example TGP). do all kind of niches... When you're satisfied with the progress, move on to next source of traffic (for example AVS)

pro's and con's if both methods are viable options?

If you have good nich and you like it yourself, use one niche and do "a"
this way, you can capture a surfer who likes a certain niche and offer them many ways to make you money.

I don't like plan "b" because it forces you to understand several niches to become successful.

There is plenty of money to be made in EACH niche. concentrate on one and own it.

I don't think it is too small but it is a small niche.

You need to be the *best* when dealing in a small niche. The pie is smaller so you have to stand out from your competition when an interested surfer shows up.

Mike, its my opinion that it doesn't happen. As someone who's seen all sides of the story, I know that a sponsor who shaves is a sponsor who will *quickly* be out of business.

There are PLENTY of times when looking at it from the webmasters point of view that you *know* you're being shaved. If you were able to see the whole story, you'd realize that what you *KNEW* wasn't true.

I consider myself having good understanding of traffic, getting traffic and so on.. I'm also practicing more programming.. (While I'm writing this)

However, I have sometimes came to a conclusion that I suck at salesmanship (compared to fellow webmasters). It may be partly due to my nature, and partly due to cultural differences in USA and my country.

How to learn salesmanship?

Or should I just do what I do and eventually get someone else to make more sales for me?

you don't need to get rich in this business over night. by slowly building your ability and knowledge, you're sure to not skip over important lessons.
I understand that plenty of others have automated submit scripts but it just isn't critical to have them from day one. Buy them when you can. In the mean time do EVERYTHING else you can to live without them.

Also, yesterday I said don't spend your internet money! put it asside to invest in your internet business. doing this will get you the scripts you need much faster.

When I started in this business, EVERYTHING was done by hand.

I have ca 15 000 slides/chromes/diapositives. All categories, from soft nude to hardcore. Last year I produced ca 80 hours of pornvideos for 2 of the largest EU distributors, I kept the slides to myself and only gave them scans for videoboxes.

I have been selling slides to Finnish and Swedish pornmagazines now.

What is the situation in rest of EU and USA with slides? How should I sell them? I would be interested in selling in bulk to a dealer/agent, not set by set to magazines.

So what to do? Any ideas?
