Eat fruits and things that are high in water content! As well as drink 1 glass of water before you eat... Keep in mind water in high intake acts as a diuretic!

Apples.... It weights in at about 138g, and is 84% water.

Banana's..... Nearly every kid's favorite addition for cereal, weights about 114g, and is one of the lowest in water content, at 74%.

Blueberries come in at about 145g, and are 84% water.

Cantaloupe, one of the more popular summertime fruits weights in at 160g, and is 90% water.

Grapefruit is a popular breakfast food, but it weights in at 123g, and is high in water, at 91%
.
Strawberries, everybody favorite for pie's, topping on ice cream. The fruit weights in at 149g and is one of the highest in water content at a whopping 92%.

Watermelon weights as much as the cantaloupe at 160g but is higher in water at 92%.

Some Veggies high in Water.

There's no doubt there are more fruit eaters than there are veggies eaters. However, did you know....

Lettuce is the highest of the veggies in water. Weighting in at only 20g, it has a water content of 96%.

Those little green pea's ....they weight about at 72g and are only 76% water.

Carrots are good for the eyes, but they weight about 72g and are 84% water.

Potato's, the main staple in most meals weight in at about 112g and is only 79% in water.

Popeye's favorite veggie, spinach comes in at 28g and is 92% water.

Zucchini only weights 65g, but is 95% water.

I have posted some hints there about how to lose weight
I am a PE teacher and I lost 10kg in 3 months (it is not much and was not really fast all I did was to add more exercises to my daily routine and eat less - appetite suppressants can be really useful)

I lost 70lbs over a three month period once. 240 to 170.

Main rule of thumb I had was not to eat anything after 6pm. Except maybe a little protien snack like Deli Turkey or cheese before bed but absolutely no carbs.

Hit the gym every morning and burned at least 500 calories with cardio and ate sensible throughout the day with multiple small meals. Think oatmeal, turkey bacon, fruit, salads and chicken.

Didnt deprive myself of treats like cookies and ice cream but made sure none of that stuff after 6.

And a crap load of Diet Coke.

Its really really easy if you have good self control. I was working out and running 3 miles, 5 days a week and I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing any weight.

I had a hard long look at my diet and there was my answer.

The average person burns about 2,500 calories per day, more if you are over-weight because your body has to work harder. 3,500 calories equals 1 pound of fat on your body. So do the math...

Here is an example below of how I used to eat. Adds up to 4,810 calories and I didn't even really pig out. I was burning probably about 3,500 calories naturally and another 1,000 by working out and running. At the end of the day I still had a surplus of 300+ Calories so even with working out and running 5 days per week I was still putting on a pound of fat every 10 days or so.

Breakfast - Two bowls of cereal 2% milk = 500 Calories
Mid afternoon snack - bagel = 400 Calories
Lunch - Carls Jr Chicken sandwich w/ Fries and coke = 1,200 Calories
Before dinner snack - Peanut Butter and Jelly w/ glass of milk = 600 calories
Dinner - Pizza 4 slices w/ 2 servings of Juice = 1,310
4 Beers and pretzels = 800 Calories

= 4,810 calories

If I wasn't working out, I would have put on a pound every 2-3 days eating like this.

Hope this helps.

If you really wanna lose weigt start running (joggin).

Start slow .. walking and easy running the first week. Then max up to half a mile in the second week, 1 mile within one month and 2 miles till the end of the second month. Do your exercise 3 - 4 times per week with with one day brake between runs (so that the muscles can recover).

Then keep up 2 miles 3 to 4 times per week and your good.

But don't forget to eat healthier . Vegetables, fruits .. but also meat and food that contain carbohydrates (drinks with sugar in it, spaggeti and other) for the energy you'll need. (or else you'll lose your motivation quickly)

this one you could easily change to :

Breakfast - Two bowls of cereal 2% milk = 500 Calories
// cool maybe do soy milk

Mid afternoon snack - bagel = 400 Calories
// bagel = bad , eat a banana . 300 calories saved

Lunch - Carls Jr Chicken sandwich w/ Fries and coke = 1,200 Calories
// cut the fries , replace with brown rice . coke replace with water .. = 500 calories saved

Before dinner snack - Peanut Butter and Jelly w/ glass of milk = 600 calories
// if you want

Dinner - Pizza 4 slices w/ 2 servings of Juice = 1,310
// cut of pizza completly and replace with ´something light chicken , veggies and brown rice

4 Beers and pretzels = 800 Calories
// cut completly

eat every 3 hrs. small portions. your dinner should be a light meal

Iv seen so many of my friends try and loose weight fast as they need to look for an event coming up, but it never works. You need to go slow rather then push it all into 2 months.

Walking is your best friend. Walk 3 km per day, everyday - even weekends. Lay off snacks like chips, biscuts, bread. Stick with 3 means a day, nothing in between.
Don't eat within 3 hours of sleeping, your body has to work twice as hard to cut it down.
Drink lots of water when you need something, it will fill you up.

I lost 26kg in 12 months. I was 140kg, im now 114kg.

I lost 20 kilos in past 2 years. I was 95 kg (on my 177cm height) and now I'm 75kg.

First I was on Atkins Diet. In about 4 months I lost 13 kilos eating mostly meat and vegetables lowering carbons/sugar usage.

After that I just stopped eating some things or lowered their use. Today I eat smaller amounts of food, I eat lees bread (also baked stuff and pizzas), I eat more regularly and use less sweets (I was addicted to chocolate before), 2 months ago I stopped drinking soda drinks (coca-cola and other crap) and I feel like never before.

And now the main part!
Belive it or not it's all in your head. If for example you stop drinking coke. Your body will ask for it couple of days, maybe a week, and after that when you are detoxicated from that shit, your body will no longer ask for it. BUT what's with your mind? Will you want to drink it again? Do you feel bad/unhappy that you can't drink it? So where is the problem in fact? I know that quitting such thing is not an easy task (trust me I done it couple of times). BUT all you need to do is to convince yourself that YOU WILL BE BETTER if you do not drink that shit: you will loose weight, live healthier, eat less sugar, have better teeth.......... Today 2 months later I am totally resistant to coke since I convinced myself that I don't need that shit. Coke advertisements do no longer affect me. My friends that drink coke when we go out don't affect me. Really I don't care and I feel really good. So by building your self your body will build up too. It's all in your head!

It helps to know what your habits are - namely your bad habits, both regarding your eating habits and exercise. If you drink soda for instance, it might help you to know the first 25-30 lbs I lost were entirely from quitting soda - in that it was the one and only change I made and that happened over the course of about half a year. I lost about 75 lbs before having gained some back, but some eating habits are really hard to kick...soda was however easy to kick once I found other not-so-sugary drinks to enjoy. Now I drink things like Propel, diet teas, occasionally even Gatorade or Vitamin Water which has some sugar but nothing close to soda.

Other than that, the most beneficial thing for me has been finding a regular strenuous activity that you enjoy doing. For me it's tennis. I have been to the gym maybe twice since I started playing tennis regularly again, whereas before, the gym WAS my main form of exercise. I can do a lot more playing tennis and I enjoy it, so ultimately I now have a good habit I can stick to.

Basically the best general advice is to figure out your bad habits that you have the best chance of eliminating successfully and good habits/improvements you can make that you have the best chance of keeping up, do those first, and see where you're at in a few months. People keep doing diets and exercise routines that they know full well they will only do temporarily and likewise it only grants them temporary weight loss.

By the way, if you're more than 20-30 lbs overweight, don't just take up jogging/running. You have a large chance of fucking up your knees. Both cartilage and ligaments can get permanently damaged that way, effects which could last a lifetime.

Instead, take up something like walking or cycling if you're seriously overweight. It will help you gain the muscle needed to reduce risk when stressing your joints, while also helping reduce your weight.

When I was married I was 230 and now I am 198 lean and ripped. I bottomed out at 175 then I hit the gym and packed on some muscle.

Here's what I did...Golden Rule Numero Uno: STOP OVEREATING AND START MOVING. That alone knocked most the weight off in less than 2 months.

It sounds tedious and not-so-glamorous but count your calories while you're trying to lose weight. If you weight lift and are trying to pack on mass, you should also count your calories. If you want to maintain your weight you should count your calories. OK...get it? You should be counting your calories no matter who you are. I have an awesome app for my iPhone. It's called "Tap and Track" and I use it religiously. I was shocked to see how I was going over my allotted from just a few small snacks here and there. Now I make better choices when I can visually see how many calories I have left to consume for the day. It's awesome and it works very well at keeping you on track.

I also eat low-carb. I carb up right after a workout but otherwise avoid carbs the rest of the day. The carbs I avoid are the bread and starchy variety. High-fiber carbs in veges I consider "safe."

Yeah, yeah, yeah...not eating after 6pm is a very good idea. Mostly because it's that snacking that will blow your calories for the day but it's also a good idea to get good rest and going to bed with a full stomach keeps you from resting. I once read that, when you go to bed with a full stomach, a full 70% of your body's energy is spent on digestion. How much rest do you think you're getting in that kind of metabolic environment? None! Rest is key when bodybuilding and for life. So no snacking in the evening is a definite Golden Rule.

Drink TONS and TONS of water every day. You need it to survive and it helps in keeping your system flushed of toxins. If you're trying to lose weight your body is a very toxic environment. Drink water. And speaking of drinks...if you're a soda drinker, you're going to be fat. If not now, sooner or later. I only drink ZERO CALORIE beverages (water, iced tea, coffee on occasion). Fall in love with Splenda if you have a sweet tooth. I always get UNSWEETENED tea and add a couple packs of Splenda. There's less than one gram of carbs in a packet of Splenda.

Buy a book or two on low-carb recipes. The shit in those books tastes great and the lower your carbs the lower your fat. Simple as that.

If you're really motivated, get a copy of The TNT Diet by Men's Health. The info therein not only melted the last little roll of genetic belly fat off my but it also was the catalyst for me to actually start growing muscle in the gym.

Enjoy!

Eat tons of vegetables and NOT tons of fruit-fruit has loads of sugar-while it's natural sugar and of course better than refined sugar (candy, cookies, etc.) if you eat too much-it will NOT help you loose weight

small meals spaced out every few hours-and nothing after 7 pm-ONLY whole grains (read ingredients-no "unenriched white/wheat flour-you need whole wheat flour), plenty of vegetables, protein such as salmon, low fat chicken, a small portion of nuts for healthy fats, as well as 1-2 pieces of fruit a day. More than that and it's just too much sugar...I give myself one treat a day (one candy bar, etc.) so as not to "feel deprived" because I have the sweet tooth from hell. Use sparing amounts of olive oil.

-Walk at least 1 hour a day

A couple times in my life I have had to drop 50lbs in a hurry.
One time it was all no-low carb. The first 25 pounds went in a hurry, but then I hit a plateau. and it took a couple more weeks to get losing again.
The other time, a lady worked with me and put me on a diet where I could eat as much low fat meat, beans, or rice as I wanted prior to 7pm. That coupled with walking and other activity.
I was full all of the time, and the weight pretty much fell off.

Lol that's just stupid. Potatoes are PACKED with carbs. And the last thing you want is carbs.

Lots of veggies = good
Carbs = not so good.

So bread, potatoes, pasta = bad
Try to cut back on those, make sure you get supplements(vitamins etc) and take them.

Fruit: also good but not too many fruits. They are packed with sugars and acids. Sugar = bad for body, acids = BAD for teeth

Go for an hour long walk every day. Or twice a day(morning and evening). Get an MP3 player and put some good music on. Take it along.

The main problem(especially) webmasters have is that they sit on their asses all day long.

YUP-people think fruit is the best for a diet-1-2 pieces a day. More than that and it's just too much sugar....

1) stop eating so much
2) stop eating fatty/greasy foods
3) exercise
4) did I mention stop eating so much?
5) exercise some more

yeah yeah, i know im not in perfect shape and I fully admit that I have been eating badly and have gotten very little exercise which is why I gained weight.

ive gained and lost weight my whole life and the secret is... watch what you eat and fucking exercise! its a fact, in order to loose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in per day. your body naturally burns calories at a rate of 1500-1800 per day, sometimes more if your taller and somewhat active, less if you are a 90 pound cutie.

if your 30lbs over weight than you need to calculate how many calories you should be taking in per day (use the internet to find this), then add up all the foods you eat and subtract your exercise for that day.

If your body burns 1500 calories a day and you are eating 2000 calories, but exercising to burn off 600 calories, then your body will burn off 100 calories worth of stored "energy" otherwise known as fat.

also, lay off the carbs. you dont need bread with every meal and cut back on it after 4pm or 6 hours before you go to bed. your body will take some time to get used to your new eating, but if you get hungry, drink some water

I have lost 90lbs..have a bunch more to go though.

Five things for me:

1. Count calories - I aim for 1500 a day at this stage
2. Exercise daily - hate it but have to or I don't move down the scales.
3. Eat less meat - less meat and more fruit and veg means my calories stretch much further
4. Aim for slow burning carbs through whole grains, beans, etc - they fill me up for longer and control insulin so I don't get hungry between meals
5. Know this is a slow process and not try to get upset if the weight doesn't drop super fast. This is my new life, not a diet.

Physically write down with pen on paper every single food that you eat, as well as how many rep's and which exercise you do daily. Be aware of the data and record results until you're done.

Quoted for absolute truthfulness. LIFE STYLE people, not a fad / diet / etc. Make the changes as if you were going to eat/live this way for the next 5 years, not the next 3 months.

Awesome Job Sarah.

Lots of bad advice in here. I saw a professional nutritionist.

A basic easy to follow rule, and a good diet to go on. 1,000 calories per day.

Every day eat.

2 proteins
2 fruit
2 starches
2 low fat high fiber snacks
4 vegetables
Very little fat intake
Light dairy each day (glass of skim milk)
80oz of water each day

NO enriched flours (no white bread, crackers, etc). All your starch intake should be whole grain whole wheat stuff. Also, no fats! Everything should be low-fat no-fat type stuff (diet margarine, no-fat salad dressing.

And you have to drink lots and lots of water. Not only will it make you fuller on less food. But to loose weight what your body does is your liver digests your fat. To do so, it needs water. It cannot digest the fat stores in your body without water. You don't drink enough water? You won't loose as much, and you'll wake up with a hangover.

Also, no alcohol. Your liver sees alcohol as a poison, and immediately begins working on the alcohol. You drink liquor, your body is instantly no longer digesting the fat stores in you body, it is simply working on the liquor which means no weight loss for you.

For proteins you want good proteins. Eggs, Chicken, Ground Turkey, Fish, and Shellfish. Stay away from Beef as much as possible. Enjoy some steak or ground beef, but do so only once to twice a week. If you want chili, or tacos, or meatloaf. Cook it with ground turkey instead. It's a good habit to get into anyway, it's VERY healthy for you.

Starch servings are like a piece of toast, or a small potato. Fruit servings are one apple (not a giant apple), or about a handful of berries/grapes. Vegetables servings are usually about one cup. the greener the better. Like try to use green onions in everything instead of yellow or red onions. All your snacks should be low fat, and should be between 100-150 calories.

And eat more often. Try to eat every hour and a half to every two hours. What happens when you get on a diet of such low calories, your metabolism wants to slow down. So if you eat allllllll the time in small portions like every two hours. Your metabolism sky rockets, so your body begins to process your fat stores much faster. So small portions - more often!

Also, you should really stick to fresh produce. If you're serious about this, you'll be at the grocery store about 2-3 times a week buying stuff. No frozen vegetables, no canned vegetables. That goes for all your other stuff too. Everything should be fresh. What I found easy, was to like cook up some taco seasoned chicken, and a big batch of turkey meat loaf on Sunday. Then have that stuff ready for the rest of the week.

With this, you should loose anywhere from 2.5-5 pounds per week. Men usually fair much better than women. If you stick to this you should be doing around 4 each week.

And remember, there's no cheating the diet. You're only cheating yourself.

Mister Peabody (me) used to be a fat fuck. Just look at the videos. Now I'm a lean, mean, fit as a fiddle fuck machine! I lost 155 pounds yo! And here's how I did it:

1. I gave myself an entire YEAR to lose it. It took me 1 1/2 years
2. I 'factored in' sweets so I wouldn't feel denied, so a brownie here, some cookies there, just not as much as before
3. I ate a GIANT salad every single day with dinner, without dressing. Raw salad. And 'dinner' was chicken or pork with a steamed vegetable.
4. Walking at first, bike riding as I got healthier and lost more weight
5. sex

Voila!

Get a calendar (Important!)
Get a scale (Important!)

1. Every day at the same time, weigh yourself and write it on your calendar.
2. Eat very slow. Before getting seconds of any meal, wait 20 minutes, if you are still hungry, get more, if not forget it.
3. Drink a glass of water before you eat.
4. Cut out sweet beverages completely.
5. Go for a walk 2 or 3 times per week.
6. If you eat carbs, eat them in the AM, and don't over do it.
7. Don't eat anything else 3 hours prior to going to sleep.
8. Do 6" leg lifts during TV commercial breaks.

Keep in mind, it is a slow process. If it took you 10 years to put it on, don't think it will be gone in 1 month. Try to lose 1 to 3 pounds per week, and encourage yourself by watching your calendar.

I was never really overweight as I have been lifting weights for many years. However I did start to look a bit "chunky" last year so I dropped from 199 to 152.5 in a 4 month span (currently clean bulking and back up to 168 and steady).

What I did to drop the weight was a simple calories in vs. calories out approach. I ate very clean and burned more calories then I took in. (3500 calories is approx one pound). In my case I was able to do this by reducing portions.

The biggest factor for my weight loss was adding 30 minutes of cardio AFTER every weight training session. This is key if you are able to handle this do it. I work out 3-4 days a week and added cardio to every session immediately after. The weight came off fast to the point where I had to stop the cardio.

Some other things that I follow that may or may not work.

- 3-6 cups a day of green tea
- no food after 6pm
- tons of water
- removed cheese from my diet (currently back in)

Its important to note that I haven't ate anything with refined sugar in over 10 years so that was something I did not have to fight with.

Good luck.
